EXCLUSIVE: Three Nigerian Soldiers Killed, 10 Injured, Armed Personnel Carrier Destroyed In ISWAP Ambush In Borno April 26, 2023 NEWS SaharaReporters gathered that the ambush took place along Damasak/ San San highway. Three Nigerian soldiers have been killed and others injured by an improvised explosive device planted by militants from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād in Borno State. SaharaReporters gathered that the ambush took place along Damasak/ San San highway. The incident, which occurred at about 8:00am on Monday, is one amongst the many traps the terrorists have used against the military. According to security sources, an Armed Personnel Carrier, several weapons and ammunition were destroyed by the terrorists during the attack. A military signal exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters also confirmed the incident. The signal revealed that flames from the burnt APC also affected houses in San San village. According to the military report, the injured and dead soldiers have reportedly been evacuated by the Nigerian Army helicopter, NAF 581, to Maiduguri for further expert management. The signal read, “On Operation Desert/Lake Sanity. Special situation report. Please be informed that the troops were conducting routine patrol along Damasak and San San and Laye villages to deter suspected terrorists from attacking commuters. At about 0830hrs on April 23, while on halt at San San village, the Armoured Personnel Carrier with Chasis no: 82/3039 stepped on IED resulting in the total destruction of the equipment. “Our own EOD team carefully cordoned and searched the general area. It was confirmed that the terrorists used the pressure type of IED. Casualty records indicate that three soldiers were killed in action and 10 soldiers were wounded. “The APC was damaged and the GPMG gun mounted on the APC with Reg. No. 121975 was damaged. Terrorists Abduct 29 Residents In Nigerian Capital City, Abuja In Mass Midnight Attack The people abducted were said to have comprises of male adults, housewives and children. No fewer than 29 residents of Yewuti village, in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be terrorists. It was learnt that the incident happened around 1am on Tuesday when the kidnappers, in their large numbers, invaded the community. Yewuti is the hometown of the immediate past vice chairman of Kwali Area Council, Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti. The people abducted were said to have comprises of male adults, housewives and children. Daily Trust reports that two housewives, Mrs Zainab Umar and Mrs Aisha Zubairu, escaped from their abductors while being led into the bush. The people kidnapped include; Idris Mohammed, Abdullahi Zubairu, Sani S. Magani, Peter Modu, Ibrahim Mamman, Yellow Abdulrasheed, Musa Suleiman, Simbiya Ishaku, Sumaiya Ibrahim, Muktari Yunusa and Mohammed Yeluwa and Rahmat Shagari. Other victims included, Sumaiya Abubakar Yelwa, Mohammed Yelwa, Maimuna Muhammad, Hussaini Ya Nda Agyana, Hamza Ibrahim, Lantana Yunusa, Nabila Agyana, Rufai Salihu, Nafisa Aminu, Kasimu Adamu, Abako Adamu, Abdulyakin Aliyu, Lukman Aliyu, Rahina Audu, Abdulrazak Usman, Sadiya Usman, Darius Samuel and Japheth Osu. According to the report, the gunmen divided themselves into groups, went to eight houses amid sporadic shooting and whisked away residents, including children and housewives into the bush. The immediate vice chairman of the council, Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, who confirmed the incident noted that his younger brother, Idris and two of his elder brothers’ wives and a child were kidnapped in his family’s residence. According to him, the kidnappers, who operated from 1am till 3am, invaded over eight houses and whisked away 29 residents, who comprised of women, men and children. He added that two housewives managed to escape from their abductors while being led along with other victims into the bush. The Etsu Abawa of Yewuti, Alhaji Isyaku Yakubu Yewuti, also confirmed that 29 of his subjects were abducted. Stressing that two people who sustained bullet wounds were taken to a private hospital in Kwali.
