BusinessRe: Sell Tomatoes And Make Millions by grabben: 12:19pm On May 04, 2018
OMOSOFEF:
You will make money selling tomatoes
Ask people across the Niger and they will tell you how tomatoes
rot away there.

The demand for tomatoes far outweighs the supply in the south, Lagos, Port, even Abuja, Ilorin

Let me tell you how much you can make from this business drawing from my experience.

A basket of Tomatoes sells for 1400 naira to 1600 naira from the farmers

A basket in Lagos sells for 4000,

Gain on one basket = 4000-1600=2400

Total gain on 500 baskets= 500 x 2400 = 12 0 00000

Expenses

1 finders fee 20000

2 baskets at 250 = 250 x 500 = 125000

3 loading = 10,000

3 sellers percentage 10% =225000

Transport and feeding 50000

Total expenses 410, 000

Net gain 1200000 – 410000

N790,000

This is a very conservative estimate. I have decided not to exaggerate but to be brutally factual.

Depending on the season you can make twice even thrice the amount.

During Christmas, Esther, New year Ramadan Festival the demands outstripped the supply. This is the period you make the kill.

If you have time you can run this twice weekly or weekly or monthly or during festive periods.

BusinessRe: Nigeria Exported Goods Worth $463 Million To Argentina In 2017 by grabben: 12:05pm On May 04, 2018
gabzymedia:
Minister Plenipotentiary Head of Mission Embassy of Argentina Elena Mikusinski has stated that Nigeria’s export to Argentina in 2017 stood at $463 million.

Elena Mikusinski disclosed this in Abuja during the launch of a new edition of Malbec World Day Wines Exposition organized and coordinated by the Embassy of Argentina in Nigeria.

Elena further stated that Argentina’s export to Nigeria stood at $86 million, while he added that the country plans to increase its presence in Nigeria, especially in the area of wine production.

According to him, through wine production the country would be playing a major role in creating jobs opportunities for young Nigerians.

Ms Mikusinski said Malbec grape variety is usually associated with Argentina wines since it is the most grown stock in the country, Argentina is the fifth world wine producer and one of the main wine exporting countries in the world.

She added that Malbec wine is the most important wine producing region in the country with over 80% of Malbec wines, it is going to create jobs opportunities in Nigeria, we are also working a lot with Nigerian Farmers to see how we can boost bilateral relations in both countries

While acknowledging the challenges of youth restiveness and unemployment, She stressed the need for stakeholders to confront the challenge with innovative thinking, using Argentina wines.

The celebration commemorates the day that the Argentina President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento asked agronomist Michel Aime Pouget, also known as Miguel Pouget to bring new varieties to Argentina. Among them the Malbec was found.

AgricultureRe: How To Test Your Raw Cashew Nuts For Kor,nut Count, moisture Level, defective Rate by grabben: 11:46am On May 04, 2018
keoplus:
The raw cashew nuts business is booming in all fonts, coupled with the falling price of oil in international market. If you are new in this business most agent with cheat you by claiming a KOR(Kernel Out-turn Ration or Output Ratio) that their nuts cannot offer.

The Testing of nuts to get the nut counts, defective ratio, KOR and more follows a technical process.

You will need some basic equipment to carry out this test, necessary equipment needed are as follows:

i. Scissors or cutter
ii.Needle
iii. Bowls (4 Bowls of different colours)
IV. Weighing scale (Electronic)
v. 1 Kg sample of the nuts you want to buy (Random collection of nuts from bags or from multiple of bags based on the purchase size)

Once you have these things then you are ready to carry out your test.

1. NUT COUNT

From the 1kg sample you picked randomly from bags, count how many nuts you have in that 1kg. This is your nut count.

2. MOISTURE

You can carry out the hand press (press the nut hard, if you see liquid from it then its not well dried) if not then you are good, you can buy the stock

or

Take a bunch of the nuts in your palms, make your palms like you want to pray with the nuts inside, then shake properly. If you get a weak sound then its not properly dried but if you get the sound of well dried nuts then u are good.

or

Get your moisture testing device grin

DEFECTIVE RATE AND KOR

These two are the father and mother of the test.

The KOR

Take the 1kg nuts, cut open with the scissors to show show the kernels, skin and shell.

once open separate the kernels based on good, spotted, stunted growth and bad (in the various bowls), make sure you scrub the kernel and the testa(skin) together into the bowls.

once done separating, weigh the good nuts and record whole, take the spotted and stunted nuts together (i.e after removing the kernel with testa), weigh and the result you get must be divided by 2. The bad nuts would not be weighed or even separated because its not useful for KOR calculation. Add the weigh from the good nuts to the weigh of the spotted and stunted nuts. The answer you get would be multiplied by 0.176 and that is your KOR. wink

Hope have been able to teach nairalanders one or two things today. With what i have shown you today sellers should not tell you specs that you cant verify. SGS, Veritas (testing/control outfit) e.t.c this is how they do their KOR no other way. No let them they scam you abeg.

If you need someone to carry out on the spot test before buying, you can contact me. You bear the transport cost to and fro and a little something for me to hold body. grin

AgricultureRe: Why There Is Little Hope For Nigeria Youths In Agriculture To Succeed by grabben: 11:39am On May 04, 2018
Ademolawaleagro:
Mr President recently said that Nigeria youth are lazy which received a lot of bashing from Nigeria.
According to some people, Nigerian youths are trully lazy while another set of thinkers said that he's wrong.
Whether he is right or wrong, the fact remains that millions of youths are pushed out of the higher school of learning each year and the unemployment statistics keep soaring every year.
What the government keep telling us is that we should venture into farming but we the conditions and the state of the sector is not attractive to the youths.

Although I am also a youth who plays in the sector but government and all players in the sectors need to do more to encourage us and raise our hope that we can succeed and edge a living for ourselves in the sector.

Some stakeholders recently stated that they need to attract youth by adding entertainment with agriculture but my question to them is that can they incorporate the processes, the love, the assistance, the advice most of their older colleagues gave to the youths in that space.
Comedian Alibaba created the right environment for the likes of AY, okey bakassi etc

The entertainment industry is still less than a decade and can boast of numerous youths doing great things for themselves and their family

Most of the efforts, advice, love, assistance rendered in the entertainment industry is not what I see in the Agric sector, what I see is selfishness, hatred, greediness, youths trying to pull themselves down even on this platform.

Overall, government is not even helping the matter, lack of financial, assistance and support etc
How do you expect us to succeed in this kind of tough environment?

The youths are the future of any country, meaning how a country will be tomorrow economically, educationally, institutionally, will be determine by the efforts and energy invested on today's youths.

I hope the government is listening.
Thanks to my oga @lesgupnigeria for supporting and believing in me.

I am a youth in agribusiness and I want to make some sense.
Let us speak the truth and shame the devil. The main reason why there is no hope for the youths in agriculture is because the youths have refused to learn the main source of income in agriculture which is exportation of agricultural products to foreign countries. This is a truism. Exportation is the major dividend of agricultural practice. The earlier the youths start to learn the contemporary dynamics of agricultural export trade, the better for them. College of Agric Iguoriakhi: Students Commence 3-Month Training At Rubber Research Institute

A batch of 48 students of the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi have been posted to the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, Iyanomo, Edo State, for a three months internship programme, in continuation of efforts to reposition the college by the Godwin Obaseki-led administration.

Checks at the Institute confirmed that majority of the students have resumed for the training and are expected to get hands-on experience of the different areas of the science and technology of rubber production.

Director and Programme Leader, Rubber Improvement and Biotechnology Programme at the Institute, Dr. Kenneth Omokhafe, said that the students have been posted to various units at the research facility for training.

According to him, “We have received the students. They are done with documentation and have been posted to several units here. In fact, some of them have been posted to the field. They are going to get hands-on experience here on the nitty-gritty of rubber research and allied areas.”

He said the state government was instrumental to the students being posted to the college as agreements had been reached to ensure the institute opens its doors to the students and ensure that they receive comprehensive training on the facility’s area of expertise.

The students join 90 others who were deployed to Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc and Presco Plc, in a holistic programme being implemented by the state government to revamp the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, into a world-class institute.

Renowned Professor of Agriculture, Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun, is leading the task of the college’s restructuring, which is expected to transform the college into a center of excellence in agricultural training.

The students would be paid N20,000 monthly stipend during the period of their training by the state government.

vibrant40:
Cashew exportation is growing in Nigeria as we got a news not quite long that Nigeria is now fourth on the ladder of countries exporting the cashew nut.
This farming I tag stress free farming considering the other agro allied business.
Making a research on this I got to know that you can make a whopping 8 million naira per year on just an acre of land of cashew trees. Only what you need is to be patient with time. Because your patience will surely be rewarded.
As a young Nigerian my advice is let's not allow those vast land in our villages waste in vain. Let's make the sacrifice of planting some cashew tree on them now as it will not be bad to go home for a month and come back with some millions!
