Please I would like to ask about names on passport. I know people have discussed something similar here but I tried to go back a couple pages but could not find the discussion (I can't figure out how to search on a particular thread, it keeps giving me options from the entire Forum).

The name on my Fiance's passport is Omo-something, this is same as the name on his birth certificate. However, all his other credentials and certificates show Ola-something. One of his teachers changed it during WAEC and he has used it since then. He has already done an affidavit stating that it's the same person.

Can he apply with the Passport and affidavit or will he need to apply for a new one? Has anybody successfully resolved this with the Passport Office? What is the process if we want to apply for a new one?

PS: I am the only applicant now, I intend to add him after our wedding later in the year.

Thank you.

Hello Canadianfly, I just figured out how to check my old posts and then saw your question. I hope you have not gone ahead with the fingerprints.
CIC conducts its own background checks, so there is no need to submit a police report. They will only ask for one if it is necessary. Again, apologies for the late response.

Canadianfly:

You don't say? Please I hope this is true because that saves me $55 for fingerprinting. Are you certain of this info? Or where can I get answers to this? Thanks.

I thought applicants who have lived in Canada did not have to submit a police report unless IRCC requests for it.

Canadianfly:

We have to get it from RCMP. We need to use a channeler though and pay for the international package is you live outside Canada. Where in Canada did you reside before?
Go to the RCMP Website there's a link for what approved agencies to use. RCMP processes the request in 72 hours though and you have the report so no need to get it now until ITA. Except yo want to get all your documents ready now so when you are ITA, no delays.

Congrats to all those that have gotten PPRs.

I got ITA this week and started filling the application form. I have a question as regards past history. I started university in Nigeria but went to complete my studies in Canada during one of their numerous strikes. As such, I did not have to do an ECA for my degree (I got an advanced standing for one of the courses). I was wondering if I would be asked to proof every activity I list in my application as I also had to do some short programs before I gained admission. The thing is I don't have any document from the Nigerian Uni and the other courses I took in Canada.

I would like to know how these will affect my application and how I can deal with the issues.

Good day,

I have read through this thread and I have gained a lot of knowledge. I however, have some specific questions.

I graduated from a University in Canada with a BComm (Accounting) about 4 years ago and returned home right after (don't ask me why wink)

I was to go back after NYSC but I got a job and decided to stay back. With all the issues this country is facing, I have decided to relocate. Canada would have been a better option as my education as well as having siblings who are PRs automatically give me about 30 additional points going the Canadian route. I also won't have to bother about skills assessment and police report.

I am now considering Australia as I want an entirely new environment. I understand I need to get my skills assessed but I'm a bit confused if it is just my degree or my work experience. I worked as an accountant during NYSC (1 year) and got a job as a Financial Analyst in a non-financial services sector (2 1/2 years). I will also be completing my final ACCA papers in June. I have sent emails to the three assessing bodies for the Accounting profession but they didn't clear my doubts, they all seemed to contradict themselves. Can someone please help? What documents do I need to send? Will they need my IELTS results ( I will be writing this after my exams)?

If there is any accountant in the house, how easy was it to convert your qualification when you landed?

I will be getting married towards the end of the year, how easy/fast will it be to get papers for my spouse when I get mine? We don't want to wait till then to start as the process may change.

We are also trying to decide on which state we should settle, any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thank You.
