Beorn: Movies like La La Land & Manchester By Sea that weren't shown in Nigerian cinemas, were they also horror genres? I gave you the reason for horror movies. Not all movies (from different genres) make it to Nigerian cinemas. There are many reasons why a movie will not make Nigerian cinema- 1. If a movie is not released widely in America 2. If a movie has LGBT content 3. If the cinema owners feel like the movie won't sell well in Nigeria. |

Ishilove: Let me give you the attention you have been trying to get from me for weeks now because I'm in a mellow mood this morning.
I know you live to troll because nothing else brings you joy in that meaningless series of even more meaningless events that passes for your existence, but see, since your family failed to contain you before you strolled into the market and had access to Internet connection, we, the sane members of the society will keep working tirelessly to have you committed into an asylum, starting from Nairaland. Lol. If we are to go personal, you already know that I live a far better life than you. You know nothing about international politics, yet you chase men who are based abroad (even me at a point). KoiceReloaded even yabbed you on this. I can buy a ticket to Ghana for you. At least so that you can leave the Nigerian boarder for once in your life. Being a local champion cannot be your life ambition |

Beorn: I don't think superstitions are the reasons why Nigerians don't see Hollywood horror movies, I just think it has to do with the fact that most Nigerians would prefer action movies genre in a cinema than the horror genre.
The cinema owners are not helping either, they select movies to display based on a certain demographic of viewers and thus abandoning other genre which they think wouldn't fetch them money. Wrong. That is the reason. The cinema owners show movies according to the market (customers' taste). Most Nigerians aren't into horror movies. Thanks to religion and superstitious beliefs. Nigerian women especially. You can even ask our very own Ishilove. |

What's my problem with Tinubu?. If you think Tinubu is the problem, then continue to blame him now. It is a free world.

Have you tried watching Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao about how politics works in Africa?. Listen to her and continue blaming Tinubu.
If obi or Atiku was the president today and economy is worse than this, I would be indifferent as with Tinubu.

Jeff Bezos actually really look like the exact replica I'll picture for Luthor. 😂😂
I'd have gone with James McAvoy — talented actor. Can easily sell you the sinister and Machiavellian look with subtle calculation. But peeps over at DC wants someone younger, for the long term. I swear! James Mcavoy would have been a perfect casting. Nicholas Hoult can act, no doubt. He just looks young and skinny. |

Travel › Re: My trip to Switzerland (pictures included) by GracieX3(f): 3:17am On Dec 20, 2024 |
Ishilove: Cold fact is us Nigerians are not ready for change because of their corrupt mindset. The day I realized just now undisciplined we are was when, some years back I started using BET buses to commute to work. When we are on the queue, people kept on looking for ways and means to jump the line , so half the time we spent there, people quarreled nonstop. To even maintain the line was a problem because people were always trying to disrupt the line.
It was that period I realized we have a big problem in this country. These same people will carry this mindset of cutting corners into every sector of the economy and call it "smartness", and that's why things are just not working because us Nigerians work actively to sabotage the system for our own selfish benefits. The people in authority are too focused on primitive accumulation of wealth to the detriment of development.
We can't be like Switzerland because we lack the discipline, foresight and selflessness to make things work as they should. The funny thing is that even you that is complaining of the corrupt nature of Nigerians, you are guilty of it too. Ishilove, were you not corrupt when given small power as a supermod on Nairaland? Banning your enemies and leaving friends to commit atrocities? Were you not trolling and also pushing articles to the front page on a biased level? Nigeria is a young country. Even the USA and UK were corrupt when they were young. Slavery, illegal sales of alcohol, colonialism, piracy, coups etc, were all present during their early days as countries. Nigeria also does not have a strong set of laws and judiciary that will punish corruption. This is why things are the way they are. Nigeria has not had a revolution. But many Western countries have had them. France, USA etc. Every human, black or white can be good or corrupt. We need to look at the environment and its circumstances that influence people to either side of the coin. My own two cents |

joseph1832: You're just being mischievous. The cases you sited, have all the so called victims you claim them to be, saying things they can't prove.
Defamation should still stand as a criminal offense, if not, people will start saying what they can't prove in other to gain traffic and even you, who wrote this load of bullcrap, won't like it, if I come to social media and start saying I fvcked your mother. Lol.
So you see, defamation should never be decriminalized, if not people will never learn. They still aren't learning even though defamation is a criminal offense, talkless of when it's not a criminal offense. Ishilove: Don't mind him. It's easy to yarn crap because they have never been bitten by these nasty modafuckers who go around slandering people's reputation. Ignorance of the law is not a defence. When I say that both joseph1832 and ishilove are ignorant about international politics (albeit law this time), people need to believe me. This issue of defamation has been a discussion in common law across many countries, and especially in the west. Defamation is both a civil and criminal matter. You can't just say it is a criminal matter. Should people just go to jail for insulting each other? No. There are many factors within Defamation- 1. Is it a written or spoken action? 2. Is it between two individuals? 3. Is it between individuals and govt? 4. What is the damage- physical, emotional or financial? 5. How does it relate to free speech concerns? 6. What is the nature of the defamation- insult, false statement, treasonous statement, statement to incite etc. Where it becomes criminal is if the defamation leads to physical damage. Financial damage between individuals is usually a civil case. Even when Trump was lied against by a news organisation- it was a civil case and they paid Trump millions in damages. I am not a lawyer but many principles come into place if you have common sense. Cc naptu2 |
