In fact, until the recent rocket exchange between Palestine & Israel, everyone already forgotten about the Muslim world, at least in the English speaking world.

It is a very interesting thing. It shows how much the media is able to shift the masses' attention from one obsession to another.

Nevertheless, Islam does not have a good reputation with the media.

I dont know the brother's view if he will care to explain further to you. Treason is punishable offense by capital punishment. This is universal law. No one can deny this. However, when someone renounces faith such as Islam, there is no earthly punishment. There is freedom of religion in the Quran "Let there be no compulsion in religion" Q256

Another verse of Quran confirms that some people renounce faith and return to Islam. They go back and forth. We have seen several evidences of this in our environment. If they have been killed for living Islam how would they return to Islam second time?. You can see it doesn't make sense.

Where issue seems to be is, someone renounces faith in sharia country and then starts sayings things against Islam that is not true or that threatens peace, or that could potentially cause unrest in community such as what Christians did in Nigeria when they wrote several Books like.

Above books were not written by ex-Muslims but Christians. So if ex-Muslims start writing and saying stuff that contradict State religion, such may be subject to capital punishments. Obviously you can agree with this rule was meant to protect Muslims and it was restricted to war front only. This rule stands till today in every country. Just that it may not have religious undertone in modern Age. If you desert your fellow army in war it is treason. So i needed to clarify this to you. So if someone changes religion, according to Quran, he or she is free to do so based on ayah I quoted above. Quran stands in judgment over any other literature.

1. First, you are lying when you claim that Paul in the New Testament had anything to do with apostasy. The New Testament does not deal with apostasy. The Titus 3;10 you quoted is not about apostasy but about someone who is divisive. Futhermore, the divisive person is to be left alone and ignored, instead of facing punishment. 2. Apostasy is apostasy. Stop bringing in other claims of treason and writing things against islam. Even at that, if one leaves islam and start promoting christianity, it should never result in a capital punishment.

This style of reasoning is not only illogical, but it smells of complete stupidity

1. First of all, christianity alone has done much damage to the world more than any other belief or non belief. They were pioneers in many forms of torture (see catholic treatment of heretics). They were pioneers of large scale warfare- see the crusades. Furthermore, Hitler was not an atheist- he believed in some sort of Aryan christian God. Also, Stalin, despite being an atheist, was a product of harsh christian treatment from the repression when he attended a seminary.

2. Atheists have contributed a lot to science and technology. Most scientists in the west are atheists or agnostics. Steve Jobs is an atheist while Bill gate is a deist. Zuckerberg was an atheist but now religious.

3. I am an atheist and I do not believe that we came by accident. What I believe is that we dont know the origin of life. That is a fact. Nobody knows
