BREAKING: Death Toll From Herdsmen Attacks On Enugu Community Rises To 12 As Residents Flee Homes June 17, 2025 News Meanwhile, residents of Eha-Amufu bordering communities with Benue State have started fleeing their homes as threats of imminent attacks got to them, local sources told SaharaReporters on Tuesday. The death toll from the herdsmen attacks in Agu-Amed autonomous community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzu local government area of Enugu State has risen to 12 as of 12noon on Tuesday, after more bodies were recovered from the bushes, SaharaReporters has learnt. Meanwhile, residents of Eha-Amufu bordering communities with Benue State have started fleeing their homes as threats of imminent attacks got to them, local sources told SaharaReporters on Tuesday. SaharaReporters had reported on Monday that at least seven residents of Ikpakpara village in Agu-Amed, Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzu local government area of Enugu State, were brutally massacred by armed herdsmen. It had reported that several others were still missing as search parties had been launched to recover the missing residents dead or alive. Some video clips shared with SaharaReporters on Tuesday showed residents crying uncontrollably after more recovered bodies were brought home. So many have been left traumatised with the unprovoked deadly attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen. A community leader, Ogbuzuru Ebe, who spoke to SaharaReporters on Tuesday, lamented that the death toll may increase as more people are still missing. The recent attack occurred on Sunday evening, when the assailants reportedly dropped from helicopters invaded the peaceful community, killing any male both young and old onsight. Another leader of the community, Sunday Ebe, told SaharaReporters that tension has enveloped the entire Eha-Amufu bordering communities as nobody has gone to farm for the past one week. "Because of the unprovoked attacks imposed on Agu-Amed and Mgbuji autonomous communities, residents are no longer going to their farms to even harvest what they will eat. We are appealing to government relief agencies to come to our assistance because hunger are going to many people. "Since last night our people have been keeping watch on borders with Benue as the assailants planing to overrun Eha-Amufu border communities. "We are marvelled that the security agencies cannot monitor attacks from sky or even deploy Aircraft to track the criminals. Where are the police surveillance helicopters distributed across police State Commands during the former President Jonathan's administration?" he asked. "Currently, there's uncertainty in my community," the community leader said, adding that more people are still missing. The attack is the latest in a series of violent assaults by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Eha-Amufu, which have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of farmers and widespread sexual violence against women. Sunday's attack is second renwed attacks in one week, coming nearly three months after women from seven autonomous communities in Eha-Amufu protested against incessant attacks by Fulani herdsmen. The protests highlighted the killings of hundreds of farmers and raping of women since 2021. According to reports, at least 152 persons have been killed by Fulani herdsmen in Eha-Amufu between 2021 and March 2025. Over 49 kidnapped cases have also been recorded, with about 20 persons still missing from several attacks. With the recent killings, the tally has increased from 152 to 168 killed between 2021 and June 17, 2025. Community leaders have expressed frustration and desperation, lamenting the government's inability to prevent these attacks or engage the assailants. Residents have accused the local government chairman of not doing enough to support security efforts in the area. The community is calling on the government to take concrete actions to prevent further attacks and protect the lives of the people. This incident has reignited concerns about the security situation in Enugu State and the need for urgent action to address the farmer-herder crisis. The government must prioritise the safety of its citizens and work towards finding a lasting solution to the conflict. https://saharareporters.com/2025/06/17/breaking-death-toll-herdsmen-attacks-enugu-community-rises-12-residents-flee-homes?fbclid=IwY2xjawK-PtpleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHqVs0yf9LmFqXgoupFAQ5C-KD9eNPDGZIg4_bmPFUH_OCnL5PJ2cqDxKeIqi_aem_G0Aa5_WzpdFAyGlinVX1jg

ebucha:They go around making enemies with everyone without thinking of future consequences. |
Too bad and getting out of hand. Nigerians must unite again these terrorists herdsmen. |
What a pity |
My friend who is a military officer with exposure to UN mission in Arab nations advised me never to date nor mary any Nigerian girl that have lived in Dubai. |
Tinubu is a disaster |
Fulani terrorists are the main problem and not MNK |
danvon:You want to hear terrorists side? |
The CDS is a Southern Kaduna Man and is expected to have dealt big blow on Bokoharam, Iswap, herdsmen and other fulani terrorists organisation threatening the peace of his ancestral home is busy jerking off on IPOB issues. |
Fulani terrorists are the worst terrorists organisation in Africa |
treatise:That's the main solution. Those fuckers are of the stone age and only technology can weaken them |
Data speaks volumes. Buhari was a disaster to Nigeria. Tinubu is even doing worse |
Tinubu messed up for picking an ex soldier as the sole administrator. Making it look like soldiers are better leaders. He should have selected a retired and well known seasoned professionals with good leadership track record. Retired judge, Prof, a fellow of a professional body etc. |
The speed with which girl drop their surname during marriage will make you think they hate their father. |
You will be amazed at the speed with which the government will respond. |
The writer is new to adulthood |
I can bet you that the biased mod will not take this to the front page because it involves a minority tribe. |
africanusvu:Ignorant boy. You want them to face AK47 wielding Fulani terrorists backed by the army with sticks, stones and cutlass abi? For your information, the indigenous Christians of middle belt are the real warriors for refusing to be conquered by fulani terrorists backed by the state for centuries now. |
kokoA:Zombie 🧟♂️ |
Jbleenk:Yes it is a mental issue. But she played the gender card plus media judgement and Nairalanders fell for it. |
All I can say for now is that our youths should try as much as possible to stay away from hard drugs. Media judgement plus the gender card are not admissible objective evidence in a court marshal |
StemCellTherapi:Thanks for sharing |
Armaggedon:Lol |
Hmm |
Those clown shouting all over the place that the people of Souther kaduna and the rest of Middle belt are cowards can now see the fire power of these terrorists and their fulani partners. Even the national army is having a hard time let alone a group of local villagers with rusty den guns. Most of these noise makers downward are lucky that they are surrounded by non-terrorist sympathisers buffer states. And as for those commentators advising the locals to form armed militia with military grade weapons, just know that this is what the fulani coward terrorists want so they can now use the army to wipe out the entire locals in the guise of fighting the armed militia. Solution remains state and local government police armed with military grade weapons. |
Knowing the parties involved, all l can say is please don't be in a hurry to draw conclusions. |
