Griffon: Oh please, Spurs team of 2019 isn't as average as the present Leicester side. Spurs were brimming with character and personalities.
Leicester's last champions league run was largely hinged on luck. They were gifted the easiest group opponents; Brugge, Copenhagen etc. Overcame an average Sevilla in the round of 16, before being bundled out by ATM.
They haven't strengthened since then, instead they lost the team's only talisman Mahrez to City.
Who are the players they're going to challenge Europe's powerhouses with?
Manyoo and Chelsea have the funds to strengthen their teams thereby enhancing their chances of advancing in the UCL, that's something you can't say about Leicester. the bolded is so wrong. ATM had to win Leicester with a fake penalty for the to progress. And if I remember rightly, they lost out either by 1 goal difference or away goal rule. Why are you downplaying the great run they had in the competition that year? Give them their dues abeg. They did well that year and went further than every other EPL team. Na wa for you o. |

Ibime: I would have kept Pasalic over Barkley but that ship has sailed.
Guys are being harsh on RLC sha. It's not that easy to come back from 1 full year injury just like that. You can't judge him on this season. Also recall he missed the latter half of his loan at Palace with back problem which was just clearing up halfway through Sarris tenure, so he only really played half a season under Sarri at full fitness.
Havertz is a good buy though. If we can complement him with a GK, LB and CB, we should be good to go. We have enough deadwood to sell to afford all of them. We can buy decent ones in all those positions for £25m-£30m average which selling Emerson, Bakayoko, Alonso, Moses, Zappacosta, Jorginho, Chris, Batsman, Barkley and even Tammy etc should be able to get us. So far we are still spending Hazard, Morata, Boga and Pasalic money. I still need another fast striker with good hold up play though. Both Giroud and Werner limit your tactical options. With Giroud you can't play fast counterattack or efficient high pressing. With Werner, you can't play long balls when under pressure. We still need a striker with both qualities. |

kendoschurrle: This problem is most certainly always from UBA. It shows the card is not fully activated. You have to call them and have the card reset. Once it's done, use the code they will give you to go and change the pin on a UBA atm again. Make sure you try a withdrawal on the ATM. If the withdrawal works, the card is active. At least that's what I did in my own time. I am having exactly the same issue with this person, but I do fund and use my card for recharging my phone, but I have not used it to withdraw, though. I complained to UBA twitter and one of their customer care that called me told me that I don't have my BVN linked to my card, and that I don't have my zip code information on my card address, even though I provided those two things during the registration. I don't understand how I can use my card to recharge when BVN is not linked to it. I am yet to go to their branch like the girl suggested, though. But is that possible? |

So basically, as long as you win the points you carried that team, because you stood up to the occasion when it was difficult. Maybe those that top assists and goals were doing it against farmers and when it didn't matter, just like the goals that Liverpool have been scoring since they won the league are useless. raumdeuter: Did Hazard top goals and assists for Chelsea?
In 2019 what did Hazard win you with his goals? The only trophy you won in 2019 was Yuropa which Giroud was the top scorer for your team we are getting somewhere. Now you want to rubbish the goals and Assists because they didn't win anything despite being the best for his team, and also higher than any of his seasons, even the 2015. But you want to hype benzema's 21 goals for winning the title when the same 21 goals could not win title last season. Do you see yourself? Now, can we say that hazard's 17 goals and 15 assists were useless because they didn't win maximum points the same way that benzema's 21 goals last season was useless. But their goals for the title winning seasons were useful because they won more points. Therefore, some loads of goals are useless if they don't win points. Conclusion. If benzema goals won more points for Madrid, thereby carrying them to league, then hazard's goals that won more points carried Chelsea to league win. Any objection? |

airmark:

2009-2010, Chelsea were the 2nd team that conceded least, so your point didn't stand.
Last season Benzema scored 21 goals and Madrid finished 3rd by scoring 63 goals and conceded 43. This season Benzema scored the same 21 goals but Madrid scored 68 and conceded jjust 23 and won the league. If you know how to analyse data, you will stop this Benzema nonsense and look at the main players that delivered the silverware, defending the goals from entering.
I didn't want to use any data, because i watched most of their league matches and know Courtois and Ramos were more consistent than the Algerian bag of beans.
Below is another confirmation that banging in massive goals alone is not enough. 2013/2014 Laliga table. This stat explains it all. I have not followed football for a long time like some of our ogas here, but the little I have followed it I know that the game is not just 1+1=2. And I believe that is why the game is the most followed game/sports on earth. I did not watch any madrid match fully this season, so I can't tell who contributed more or not. Therefore, I am not joining in the Benzema argument. But I want to say this. Football is a team sports. And every member of the team contributes to the success of the team one way or the other. Although, not everyone has the same degree of contribution, but no position in the team is more important than the other. The midfielder is as important as the defender. The attacker is as important as the defender, and vice versa. Everyone on the pitch is important as long as they are doing their job, whatever it may be, very well. Now, about those who downplay the importance of defence just because they feel emotionally attached to goals and the people that score them, here is my summation with an example. The issue of clean sheet and more goals is not just black and white. Let's say for instance, Chelsea have two matches to play to end the season, right? Now, let's say we need maximum points, which is 6 points. Now, let us use these two matches remaining for Chelsea as examples. First. Liverpool 0 : 4 Chelsea (Abraham 4 goals) Wolves 1 : 1 Chelsea (Abraham 0 goal) Second Liverpool 1 : 2 Chelsea (Abraham 1 goal) Wolves 0 : 1 Chelsea (Abraham 1 goal) Third scenario. Liverpool 0 : 0 Chelsea Wolves 0 : 0 Chelsea Fourth scenario Liverpool 3 : 2 Chelsea Wolves 2 : 1 Chelsea First scenario = 4 points. Second scenario = 6 points. Third scenario = 2 points Fourth scenario = 3 points First scenario, the team did a good job if you total it, but no maximum points. And Abraham did a great job totally but when you look closely you will see comma. Second scenario, the team did a great job if you look closely, but compared to the first one with total stats gathered, they didn't meet up, yet they got maximum points. Also, Abraham in the first scenario scored more, but did not do better than the second scenario. Third and fourth scenario is self explanatory. The conclusion is that it is not about total goals scored or total conceded at the end of the season, it is about the team performance every match day. A striker's contribution is not when he scores 50 goals total, it is how many matches he was able to score in when the team needed it. That is, it is not about giving 9/10 performance in 30% of the season's matches, it is about giving consistent, at least, 7/10 in 80% of the season's matches. That is what is important. |

raumdeuter: The drop from Cortouis to a Madrid standard goalkeeper is also not as steep as you are making it to sound. Keylor Navas won them the last league and 3 CL titles. Benzemas 8 assists is about tp 5 in the entire league
When you are the main goal outlet recording 20+ goals then 8 assists is generous output. Lewandoski for example has 4 assists, Aguero has 4 assists Lukaku has 2, Aubameyang has 2 assists Infact of all the golden shoe chasers in Europe this season players with 20 goals or more only Messi has more than 8 goals
While a player like Lewandoski will look at his attack and see Muller behind him breaking assists record, he has Gnabry behind him with 11 assists, the best Benzema can get is Hidden Hazard with 3 assists the entire season How are Madrid assists shared around? when no other Madrid player has g+a > 10 none of the other Madrid attackers have more than 3 assists
Basically Benzema ran the Madrid offence both in goals and in assists. I can even say very few strikers in the world will thrive in the poverty numbers that other Madrid attacking support cast are delivering
Atletico dont concede but lack of goals, Simeones side have conceded just 3 goals more than Madrid but are 20points behind Real Madrid because they scored 18 goals less than Madrid. That mean they will never win, All their clean sheets is wasted because no one will do the business on the other end I am sure Atletico with their solid defence will die to have a striker to deliver >= 29 g+a like Diego Costa did for them in 2014 unbelievable. |

Benzema is leading goals and he is at the same time leading assists. Its usually players like Messi that leads both stats in the same team or how many teams do you see the same player topping goals and at the same time topping assists
The other attackers combined Isco Hazard Vinicius,Asensio, James Bale Vazquez combined have less goals than Benzema

Ibime: The Fabregas I rated best AM in 2007 season was an AM.
The Fabregas I wanted back at Chelsea was to chase Oscar away from the AM position.
All of a sudden, you are presented with a Fabregas playing DM and putting defence in danger.
OK, at some point they said go and play AM but he was too slow to keep up with the attacks.
This is football. Tactics change and the qualities that make one relevant in one era could become redundant as the game progresses. Then football was slower and Fabregas a bit quicker, he could be an effective AM. Now he is slower and defenders are faster, he cannot arrive in the box effectively and still get back to midfield in time.
Now to play AM, you must be physically adept. It's just like you would rate Ozil in 2010 but not in 2020 when 4-2-3-1 became redundant. Now if you play as the advanced midfielder, you must be robust enough to form a midfield 3 or fast enough to act as a second striker. You don't just leave players in the hole like a decade ago, and that is where the likes of Ozil, Mata and Fabregas to some extent got left behind. Point of correction, sir. Fabregas never played DM at Chelsea. He played as CM and AM. |

donjazet: I don't want to get sucked into another sarri debate. I'll just state my opinion and drop the issue.
In my 14 years of supporting Chelsea, I have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions brought upon by the managerial instability and fan's impatience.
There is a cyclical process that constantly occurs which I have been fed up with since.
We hire a new manager, the fans get onboard with him, the new manager signs new players, the manager starts very well and succeeds tremendously (except avb and Avram). The manager hits a rough patch, the fans IMMEDIATELY turn on him, the club sacks him, another manager is signed, stuck with players he doesn't want and signs new players after which another cycle kicks in.
It's a process which is highly frustrating to me, worse so, is seeing how easy it is for fans to change their mind on players and coaches without giving them adequate time after formerly gushing in admiration and praises of the said manager or player.
I know how angry i was when ancelloti was sacked, a champions league winner who we had hired who had won us the double with a powerful group of attackers like anelka, Lampard, deco, Drogba etc. Just because we had lost the title charge by a few points as runners-up.
But our recent managerial turmoil irks me the most. Just a year after mourinho had taken us to just within one game of the champions league final, and actually winning the league, we sacked him because of problems with Michael and some players. Needless to point out that we haven't smelt even the quarters since then.
We hired conte, a passionate coach who showed great tactical acumen to win us the league in record fashion, at season end, everybody here was in love with conte only for things to change the minute we hit a rough patch, many fans turned on this coach despite the bad attitude of Diego and the lack of signings.
Now sarri, we hired sarri, despite knowing that he hadn't won anything in his career, the club had long since stated it's desire to start playing a unique brand of attacking football and believed that sarri was the right man for that, they promised him ample time to carry out his vision, the fans embraced the idea of sarriball despite knowing the man hadn't won anything yet, we were ready to give him time knowing that just one season will hardly be enough to fully adapt and implement his philosophy. We could see flashes of the brilliance of his vision throughout the season but as usual, the minute we hit a rough patch after the usual honeymoon period, the same fans who happily embraced the project grew impatient and frustrated to see it through. We sacked sarri and now we have decided to hire our legend despite his absolute inexperience, we did this with the promise of giving him sufficient time to grow and groom our young players. The club has promised managerial stability now, Fans have also embraced this move.
This is why I was constantly advocating for caution when Lampard was winning earlier on in the season because I know how easy it would be for our fans to turn on him when we hit a very rough patch. I am all in, into the frank project and youth revolution and my hope is that we wouldn't be plunged into another managerial cycle for at least 3 years. We have to give Lampard time like kloop, pochetino and guardiola have had at their clubs, no matter what.
Please don't quote me on this sarri issue again, I wouldn't respond. I believe I have completely detailed my perspective on this. Although, I was and I am happy that he left, but he was not sacked. |
