So more goals only end up in losing? You conviniently typed 3-4 forgetting 5-4, 7-6, 4-3 etc.... Abi.
If goals isn't important, I wonder how the wins will come about.
Fabregas and Costa delivered EPL to us doesn't mean that others were useless. It only means that their goals and assists played a major role (you can call it lion share) that season. where did you read from my post that goals are not important? You are the one downgrading the importance of a good midfield and defense because you want to push the agenda of the ones who score the goals and those that got assists are they most important people in the team. That is what I'm trying to correct. Let for people like you, Kante wouldn't have been recognised as our best player in 2017 title win, because he does not have any goals and assists that win titles according to you. Salah scored 32 goals in 2018 yet he could not deliver a spoon for Liverpool, but you us to believe that some who scored 20 goals and another with 12 assist delivered a title. See yourself nah. I don tell you. Make una no dey use bogus terms for here. Lion share. Na so both Salah and Mane take 22 goals last season with many lion share (according to you) yet nothing to show for it. Make una no dey overhype this goal something for here. Clean sheets/less goals conceded per match play as much role as goals in a title win. |

Ibime: No because you want to give Hazard the overwhelming credit in a false narrative. I gave Hazard his credit. . . behind Costa, Fabregas and Terry.
What happened from January is Man City collapsed, partly due to Yaya Toure exit to AFCON not because Hazard then accelerated us to the title. Once Mourinho built up a points lead during AFCON he then went full defence, grinding out 1-0 wins till the end of the season which I credit to Mourinho and Terry first and foremost, and then Hazard.
First half of the season belongs to Costa and Fabregas in that order.
Second half of the season belongs to Man City collapse, Mourinho, Terry and Hazard.
Over the full season, I gave it to Costa, Fabregas, Terry then Hazard. Na una Hazard fan boys wey want construct false narrative that he was the primary catalyst for the title win. Lol. The bolded is funny. All these in a bid not to accept that you gulfed the day you made that statement in the heat of an argument. What I know is that Hazard was our best player for that title win. So, if you like call it primary catalyst, na you sabi. You must know more than Mourinho, the fans, epl players, journalists and all that rated hazard as our best player that season. Let me use your own criteria here. Hazard's goals won us more points in the title win. How do you reconcile it with all you said above. |

By then Fabregas had already racked up numerous assists so I gave him his credit in the title run, however highlighting his weakness in midfield and marking him down for future upgrade as I did often. no. You told us that fab and Costa won us the title and that Hazard (who was our best player that season, even acknowledged by the manager) was a carry along. We know that titles are using won in the second half of the season when winnings are crucial. But by this time your Fabregas was already out of form. If Fabregas has gased by December, and other people continued being consistent with their performance and saw us through the difficult part of the season, why do you slander those people and call them carryalong? Why did you refuse to give them their own credit? Did you just want to push a false agenda? BTW, Zouma started only 2 matches as a DM in the EPL that season. |

He was found out as an easy man to press halfway through our title run in 2014/15. He has been the same since he was a teenager. Nothing to do with age. He was a structural liability since youth. Jorginho is young now and still doesn't have legs. You are still the same man on another day during your usual hazard insult that will tell us that it was Fabregas and Costa that already won us the trophy by December, even though we were on same points with City on New year's day. |

Ibime: You will hardly ever catch Zouma for being out of position or not covering the angle for the cross. All you can say is he looks clumsy on the ball, but TBH, that is improving under Lampard.
His first two games he made mistakes under Lampard which I put down to nervousness of trying to establish himself at a big club (his parent club) having been out of the picture since 2015. After that, he was fairly solid. His high point was the performance alongside Tomori away at Ajax. Lampard should have built on that instead of deferring to Rudiger. TBH, All these players would look a lot better without Kepa making them nervous. Apart from Rudiger, Christensen really disappointed me with his tracking of runs for West Ham second goal. I can bet Zouma will never jump over Antonio and start running toward the ball like Christensen did instead of marking the man in the box. I don't understand Chris Ball watching these days. |

Christensen is too soft, Tomori too green and Rudiger too useless average funny thing is, we have all seen the best of these players, so we can take our conclusions from. Of all of them, Chris was the best for me. He did everything well with neatness. Everything was clean. With his body frame he was able to pocket Aguero, Lukaku, etc. If he could pocket those guys one on one neatly, there is no one he can't pocket. He just needs to rediscover that form. Because of his nature, he can't be a leader. The guy can't open mouth to talk, talk more of directing people. For me, in descending order, Chris, zouma, Tomori, Rudiger. Rudiger is too slow for my liking. |

airmark: I may be forced to call Lampard, a fraud like that apari in Man city, if he doesn't improve this our useless defence. I don't know why he couldn't ask our CBs to skillfully knock off the balls, before getting to Antonio, that day. VVD knows how to do this effectively against strikers with superb hold-up play.
He should get an assistant to train our defenders next season on the art of defending. It's annoying. exactly. |

Ibime: Yes, he is a problem, but don't underestimate the impact of a commanding keeper. A tall commanding keeper will snuff out 80% of our set piece problems. His hands are tied in that regard. Yes, you have a point. But this same keeper was there last season and it was not looking like every set piece will be a goal. This is set pieces for goodness sake. It is not open play where we can say that he has sacrificed his defence for attack. Whatever Sarri did to manage Kepa, Lampard should follow it. Kepa can help to reduce the goals If he was tall, but he is not, so Lampard should use his head. If you watch the goals, they always follow same pattern. Our defenders will be clueless and ball watching while the opponent scores. That can't be Kepa too. Whatever Lampard and his crew are teaching those boys that is making them to ball watching during set pieces, he should stop it. |

Unlimited22: To be honest, the defenders aren't covering themselves in glory either.
Last season, we had a very rigid structure and maybe that's why the frailties in personnel weren't so obvious. And that structure also stunted US in attack by making every play go through Jorginho. This season, the defenders are exposed some more and they have failed to live up to expectations. The job of a manager is to build the structure. Lampard is clueless on his defensive structure. Pep does not have a strong defensive structure, but he has a great midfield and attack structure, with the great players to go with it. Those two cover for his defence by putting fear in their opponents and give them clean sheet. Lampard does not have great attackers, he does not like a Conservative midfield like the one Kante and kova can offer, his defenders are not great, but above average, yet he will not wait and make sure that he does not concede much by going open with plays until he gets great attackers. The one of setpieces, which is were we have conceded more from, Lampard is just completely confused there. He is putting himself in too much pressure instead of calming down to pick his team and allow them to become cohesive. |
