lexy2014: Am not talking about buharists or atiku fans pls. I only said if we have 4million tonnes of rice in Nigeria, we will c it in d market. I asked u when did u guys start producing rice? If u follow d companies u mentioned, u will find out that they have been in rice b4 2015. Am well aware that many Nigerians have been producing rice long b4 2015. Am not just comfortable with people trying to use it as a political tool Last year alone, Kebbi State celebrated crossing over the 1 million metric tone production benchmark. This year is going to be almost double that. And that's for Kebbi state alone. Ebonyi state is fast increasing capacity too. I don't know where you reside but, in these parts, seeing foreign rice in the markets is the strange thing. There's a variety of stone-free (Nigerian rice) on EVERY stand in EVERY stall you can find. The reason why some of the big Thailand rice producers have started opening processing plants in Kaduna and Kebbi (please google it), is that they are beginning to recognize the increase in capacity of our local production. |

lexy2014: If I don't keep quiet, what will happen? I believe I have a right 2 my opinion just as u do. If u don't like my opinion, there's nothing I can do about it.
D report said 4 million tonnes. And if there's 4 million tonnes of rice in Nigeria, it will b in market stalls. So take a stroll to a market& sample d starks of rice in stalls& c if its Thailand or Nigerian.
Which companies "buy off d harvests"? Can u pls give their names? Do these same companies buy off d harvests from ur family farm? Is ur produce branded? For how long has ur family been producing rice? Examples of companies which buy off rice from farms include but are not limited to Olam (Big conglomerate which not only produces Nigerian rice but also exports to other countries. Google them), Miva Rice (Serving North Central states), Oracle Food Processing (Which just came on board with over 100000 hectares of rice farms and capacity to buy from others, located at the industrial Layout, Makurdi). The above listed companies are just those dominant in the middle belt. I have a 3 hectare cassava farm at the moment. Will be going into rice (Farro44 to be specific) and soya-beans production once the rains set in this year. See ehn, it's not a Buharists vs Atikulators nonsense going on. People are making money in this sector so a lot of us are also keying in. I'm a building Engineer but I also have farms. It's not rocket science. |

eluquenson: Stop deceiving yourself, most of these rice are not local rice. Forget about using phones to browse.
We produce rice in Nigeria since 1900, but our production is yet to increase, government are only deceiving gullible Nigerians who believe the economy is better under this administration.
Leave matter for Mathias Those three products are what we buy in my house. Over 5 years running. If you don't know a thing, learn it. When next you go to the market, ask them. However, if your purpose is to discredit the fact that there is a sizable increase in production as purported in the article then I must say that truly, you lacka lot of information about your country. Some only want to see bad in everything so it's understandable. Keep seeing bad. |

eluquenson: Scam and lies. That was how Jonathan deceived gullible Nigerians that there is cassava bread everywhere.
Who has eaten the rice here? Lake rice I know is imported rice, packaged in Nigeria. If truly the production of rice is real, yes we have locally made rice here, but the rice can't feed Lagos for just a day.
Nigerians and the way they hug lies be like 5 & 6. Under which rock are you living exactly? Miva rice, Mama's Pride, Ashi Rice just to mention a few.You have a smartphone, use it! |

Lol. This guy has hit the nail on the head. "The Igbos should stop playing politics of emotions..." No sane Nigerian would vote for an Igbo candidate IF the sentiments expressed by their sons and daughters online is anything to go by. The sheer amount of arrogance, ignorance, bile, hatred and downright animosity towards EVERYONE who they see as opposed to their views far outweigh any political goodwill the actions of the few rational ones could buy an Igbo presidential candidate in the near future. It's actually pathetic. The average Igbo man was hitherto known as an achiever, a go-getter. However, these new breed of online tribal touts seem to have been so effective at divisive politics of hatred and tribal bigotry that it's overshadowing the fact their elders are beginning to gradually see the need for inclusive politics as reflected in the recent presidential electoral results. |

victorvezx: I know Yoruba people. They have never commented like this before. I am very sure that all this negative comments are from the igbos. They are probably the only people that desperately wanted PDP in power, so since they didn’t have their way, they celebrate mass deaths under APC government as a form of victory so they can compensate for their election loss. They are acting as if boko haram were not killing people like flies during Jonathan regime that they even had to postpone election by many weeks because of the boko haram violence E go soon be for them.
