Health / 5 Ways You Can Invest And Earn In The Health Sector by greenhealthng(m): 7:28am On Jan 21, 2017
The health sector is an untapped goldmine in our country, Nigeria. Several opportunities lie unattended to and waste away as years go by. The good news is that you must not be a health professional or acquire certificates in health courses before you can invest in these opportunities or own one. All you need are these four major characteristics.
i. Thorough knowledge about the business

ii. Financial backup or capital to support the business

iii. Passion

iv. Business management skills

When these characteristics are well implemented, you are sure of reaping good profits from your business. Here are six business
opportunities that are available in the health sector.

1. Blogging: Blogging means writing different articles and posts online on a particular niche using a blogging platform like blogger, word press, typepad, etc. on the World Wide Web. A niche is a subject of a particular interest which means you must be interested in a particular niche like health, entertainment, technology, politics, web tools, football, etc. It is very profitable on the long run as you are presented with opportunities in the blogosphere such as adsense, affiliate marketing, advertisement and sponsored contents. Passion and blog content for a particular niche is the key to maintaining a blog and yielding profits in future. It takes time, passion and patience to earn on a blog.

2. Owning a Community Pharmacy: I am a pharmacist but I must tell you that not all pharmacists own a community pharmacy. It goes a long way beyond that. All you need to do is to have a financial muscle to be able to set up a pharmacy, do feasibility studies on the business and employ capable personnels that would handle the business administration. Pharmacies differ from patent medicine stores because the latter sells OTC drugs (over the counter) while the former sells prescription drugs.

These major steps would make you own a pharmacy store:

-Get a fully registered pharmacist under PCN (Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria) to collaborate in the business and register your premises.
-Register the pharmacy with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission).
-Get a good location to be able to attract customers to you pharmacy.

3..Health Clinic: Although this venture is capital intensive, the fruits reaped are highly rewarding.

It is essential to conduct a market survey and make a detailed analysis on costs, registration of premises, licensing, type of clinic to start and number of employees. These parameters gives you a clear focus and direction on how to budget for the business and how it can be managed. It is also important to consult those who are experienced in the concerned field for guidance and counseling in starting up a health clinic. It is also advisable to have partners that will fund the project so it can facilitate the business operation.

4. Medical Waste Disposal Plant: Venturing into two business can be very profitable because it doesn’t require a huge starting capital. As the name implies, it involves collection and processing medical wastes such as used disposable hand gloves, used face masks, placentas, syringes and needles, cotton wools rocked with blood etc. The company engages in dropping these wastes at safe places because of the harmful effect it creates on humans. These medical wastes are gotten from hospitals, health clinics, medical and diagnostic centers, dental clinics etc. There are various strategies an investor interested in this business should carry out:

-Do a detailed research and carryout feasibility studies on the business, get a liability insurance to cover and get trained by the appropriate department (e.g. public health) of that country to be able to operate, manage solid waste and toxic waste and learn safety skills.
-Register the business with agencies such as CAC, public health department, ministry of health etc and acquire all vital permits and license.
-Equip your company with the necessary instruments such as incinerators with high quality, steam sterilizers, radioactive detection devices etc.
-Choose a good location that would be approved by the public health department of your country.
-All employees of the plant (drivers, workers) must be properly trained because of the challenges faced in the industry.
-Market your business by applying advertisement strategies and looking for contracts in hospitals, and health centers where they pay for your services.

5. Gym Business: The high rate of obese people in the country is at an alarming rate. The gym business is never separated because a lot of people visit the gym during weekday evenings and on weekends. They keep fit and keep their weight at a normal rate.

-You gain double rewards when you startup this business.
-Financial reward for your customers
-Keeping people healthy and fit
-Take note of these points if you want to venture into gym business
-Carryout a detail search and find out potential clients that would visit your gym. These clients include top civil servants, mothers who stay at home, students etc.
-Obtain the required registrations, permits and license.
-Purchase and install your equipments and decorate the place to be able to look beautiful and attractive to customers.
-A good location plays a vital role in boosting your profits.

Hello Pharm,
The mobile view of your blog is terrible and nobody would want to spend time going through your contents with that terrible template. Consider a change of theme(or better still, move over to WordPress. Its way better than blogger).

Most people use their phones for browsing and you have to take that into consideration for your blog. Go and look for a theme that is very mobile friendly and you're good to go.
thanks for your commendations,,ill work on it

Pls I am new in ds group, ds is Wat I want to ask, I am a lady of 26 not married, I am really skinny, like vry very skinny, it's really bordering me. Right now I use just orheptal blood capsule and I eat very well. Instead of getting fatter am getting more Skinner by d day. Pls help me pls.
since you said youre too skinny and probably underweight,,, ill advice you purchase a drug called WATE-ON,,,It kinda prompts u to eat very well,,,but please do not eat junks in the process of adding flesh and gaining so much weight thereby making u obese. take more of proteinous foods eg eggs, fish, chicken, beans.it helps to build your body, carbohydrates like rice, oats, cassava and fruits should also be eaten more. increase your sleep hours @ least 7-10 hours @nyt and 3hours during the day,.,,while eating all these in large quantities,, do well to check your BMI( body mass index) always. bmi= weight/height. the standard range of bmi for any human is 18.5-24.9kg/m2. any value below or above this shows youre underweight or obese respectively,,#cheers

Health / 4 Measures Government Can Implement To Ensure Good Health Care Delivery System by greenhealthng(m): 10:34pm On Jan 15, 2017
I read with pains in my heart about an article someone posted on Naira land with the heading “UNFORTUNATE DEATHS IN OUR HOSPITAL: A NURSES PERSPECTIVE”. It is so factual because I have worked with these hospitals (private and government) during my clerkship and internship days so I have a firsthand experience despite the fact that I am neither a doctor nor a nurse. One striking and touching fact about these incidents is that some of the death that occurs within the hospitals could actually be prevented if necessary measures are put in place. The measure problems hindering proper health care delivery are:
1. Lack of facilities and infrastructure

2. Inadequate work force and manpower

3. Bad pay package

4. Harshness of hospital policy

With these problem listed I can be able to proffer some solutions which if looked properly into it would ensure a good health care delivery system.

1.Provision of adequate facilities and infrastructure: This is a great determinant of a good health care delivery system, stable electricity should be provided in hospitals because of some life threatening cases that require urgent attention and proper storage of drugs, equipments that do not need abnormal temperature. Also, bed spaces should be available in surplus quantities so as to avoid emergency cases.

2.Better pay package: A lot of our health professionals are taking foreign exams so they could work outside the shores of the country in order to attain greener pastures. It is so disheartening when your country doesn’t recognize your worth and other countries do. Health professionals go through a lot in rendering quality health care services to humanity. If you compare what other health professionals earn abroad including remuneration packages, it would be clear to you that we are not recognized in our homeland. I implore the government to ensure a pay package for health professionals in order to boost their moral so they can render good health care services to the populace effectively.

3.Employ more workforce and manpower: This problem is encountered mostly in private hospitals. You find situations where two nurses and a doctor are placed on duty to attend to three women in labour and other patients who need proper medical attention. They should employ more health workforce so there would be division of labour in carrying out their medical duties.

4.Adjust the hospital policies: Some hospital policies do not offer free emergency treatment unless they are being paid. Saving the life of a patient should be the utmost priority. Some cases are just life threatening and demand medical attention else the patient dies. Why not adjust the policy so it favours both parties? Like it is done in some hospitals where they would receive emergency treatment for 24 hours before payment. Another policy that hinders proper health care delivery is the restriction of duties placed on nurses. In situations where the doctor is not available, nurses should carry out medical treatment on the patient since they are also medically knowledgeable.

well u just have to be specific on your problem,,,if it's acne/pimple you're having,,,go for clindamycin cream or neo medrol and doxycycline 100mg tab once daily for 1 month,,,if it's fungal infection,,go for neomycin or ketoconazole cream,,,i wouldn't advise u to opt for bleaching cream or skin toning cream,,,rather eat more of fruits and vegetables and buy natural skin moisturisers containing vitamin supplements,,,#cheers

Hi pls am over 40.i planned to start taking ruzu for fibroid,do you think it works beside am wondering if it would harm my ovaries.I dont want to go under the knife.
my dear,,,fibroid has different stages of growth,,,but @ age 40,,myomectomy (surgery) remains the best option once a good doctor does it,,,it's a one time effect applied and you're fine completely,,i wouldn't recommend bitters for such sensitive issues,,visit a doc for counselling,,#cheers

please is there any supplement that shrinks ovarian cyst in 2weeks?
clearing an ovarian cyst completely in 2weeks is a hard task,,,for cases I've seen,,it takes up to 3months,,,most times ovarian cysts disappears on its own and when it's enlarged,,it needs surgery to be removed,,,it is caused by excess estrogen which causes hormonal imbalance and disrupts ovulation,,,,u can take supplements like DIM(diindolylmethane),,,natural progesterone cream,,herbs like maca root,,,milk thistle seed,,,,they help to balance your hormones,,,,also avoid soy foods and eat organic meat and dairy,,,,dont forget to see a doctor for proper counselling #cheers

Hi,
Thanks for your good works. May your knowledge continue to increase. Please i need your advice. Hubby had low motility and was given parlodel. Though it was prescribed for me too, i took in (though i was taking fertilAid/FertileCM) and didn't have to take it. Our child is 19months +. I took in last year without the help of any medication but lost it in September at 3months.

Since then we have been trying and I'm getting worried if something is wrong. I am currently taking pregnacare - preconception. Please what else can we do? Thanks
I suggest u see a gynaecologist and explain your medication history in details,,,he/she is in a better position to help u out,,,also check out your cycle properly especially when you're ovulating before you meet your hubby,,,,prayers work too,,,#cheers
