Good Day All, I received the email below from UKVI few hours after sending a paid email enquiry regarding visa application. It said that decision has been made on the application however to allow 10 working days for VAC to contact regarding passport collection/delivery. I tracked the application and it is still at DMC. Have anyone received such email and what is the estimated turn around to status changing to "transferred to VAC" and then final passport collection? Please kindly share your experience. Dear XXXXX XXXXX, Thank you for contacting UK Visas and Immigration International Contact Centre. With regards to your enquiry about the status of your application, our records indicate that decision has been made on your application. We cannot discuss the outcome of your application on-line or by telephone. Please allow 10 working days for the visa application centre to contact you in regards to collection or delivery of your passport. We strongly recommend that you do not buy a non-refundable, non-flexible ticket to the UK, until your visa application has been approved and you have received your documents. Regards, XXXXX UK Visas and Immigration |

1. She can apply with her maiden name and there will be no issues with UKVI however if you guys plan to have all surnames consistent, you better change her details in the passport once you guys are married so all names are consistent. If her visa is on her maiden name, then she will be using that maiden name on most other things when she arrives UK e.g. Bank details, driving licence, medicals etc. Besides, to change Nigerian passport is easier and relatively cheaper to do in Nigeria than in UK and the Nigeria High Commission UK do not always have the booklet. The choice is yours! 2. In addition to marriage certificate and pictures, you may have to include text messages, documents that contain the couple's names, anything owned together and just anything to show that the relationship is subsisting. 3. I am not familiar with this so please research further. checkmateman: |
You cannot change your flight itinerary midway through your journey. The airline will not allow you and you will get into problem with immigrations. Do not try it. Make any changes now that you are still in Nigeria and you will have to call your airline or travel agent. When you land in BMX, you can either use a coach (National Express, Mega bus etc) or train to get to London from BMX. I will discourage you from using this option as you may complicate things at BMX immigration entry point. It is not worth it. See my previous response to you. BrunoMads: |
Hi guys, I have a little misunderstanding, I booked my flight to Birmingham, now my uncle that lives in London is asking me to come over to his place to quarantine in London, since I don't have any place Birmingham yet, I initially planned I was going to stay in a hotel for fifteen days to quarantine and try get a place to live before he came into the picture. So he has sent my his address in London for locator form. Now my my problem is my flight is heading to Birmingham not London, I have a layover of seven hours in Instanbul, can I reroute from Birmingham to London at Instanbul? And at what cost if it is possible? Or , if I can get to Birmingham and head to London by Bus will the immigration disturb me about the address I filled in my locator form being in London at Birmingham airport ? Will it raise any eyebrows? [1. If i understand you correctly, when you get to Instanbul the airline will not allow you to change the Instanbul - BMX flight to Instanbul - LHR. You can only change your flight itenarary now in Nigeria before you check in, i.e speak to your airline now to re-route you for Lagos/Abuja - Instanbul - LHR. Note that additional charges may apply. It is completely OK to quarantine at Uncle's home but make sure you include his address in your PLF and explain clearly when asked at the immigration point of entry LHR. 2. You can also go to London to quarantine once you land at BMX. My worry for you is that NHS makes random calls/tracking to check that people are at the location they said that they will quarantine as recorded in your PLF. If you decide to choose this option, there are coaches such as National Express, Mega Bus etc that have regular service from BMX to London. You will also need to be consistent while answering questions at BMX immigration entry point as any inconsistency with your story will red flag you. 3. Option 1 may be the best for you considering costs plus you may benefit from some motivation from your uncle otherwise just head to BMX as you originally planned and quarantine in a hotel in Birmingham. The choice is yours. ] Hi guys, I have a little misunderstanding, I booked my flight to Birmingham, now my uncle that lives in London is asking me to come over to his place to quarantine in London, since I don't have any place Birmingham yet, I initially planned I was going to stay in a hotel for fifteen days to quarantine and try get a place to live before he came into the picture.
Hi everyone I applied a visa for my son which is family permit. He did his biometrics AUG 6, till now we haven’t heard from them. My sympathies for your situation. I am on the same situation although mine is worse off - my wife completed biometrics on 17th June. We received a non-straightforward email. We have also done several paid email and calls and at each occasion the response we receive is that they are still processing our application and that we should bear with them. Where did you send your application - Nigeria or within UK? Have you done any paid email or call to them? |
vikaosi:1. Marriage registered with any government agent - LGA, any court etc is acceptable. 2. It is highly advisable to include any further information to proof that the relationship is genuine and subsisting. Example pictures of the couple, messages, any document that shows the couple have lived together such as bills. Note that it is not a requirement that you guys must have lived together. 3. As above, LGAs are the most popular agency that conduct marriages. 4. General - once you start the online application you find out other supporting documents for the application. 5. Good luck! |
I am still awaiting decision on my wife's settlement visa for 25+weeks (125WD). However I am aware that spouse visa is resident permit so holders can enter UK from a country in the red list. Be aware that government quarantine hotel is mandatory on arrival and travellers MUST show evidence of booking of a quarantine hotel before boarding your flight. Confirmation of quarantine hotel booking is also required to complete PLF. |
[Many thanks missgirl, much appreciated. If we do not get a decision by the end of the year then I will get my MP involved.] From Lagos (Ikeja).
|
Many thanks for your response @ missgirl. If you don't mind me asking, did you guys apply from Nigeria or application was done in UK? Hello. We recently completed ours. Turnaround was about 67wds. However, I am in a couple of FB groups and they have been complaining about applications from June and July being delayed Best of luck with everything and hope it all goes well. You can get your MP involved and ask them to contact UKVI for you
|
Good day everyone, I was wondering if anyone is in the same situation that me and my wife found ourselves. My wife completed her biometrics for spouse visa standard application (settlement route) on 17th June this year. We were told that the processing time is within 12 weeks (60WD). We just entered the 24th week (116WD) and we are yet to receive a decision from UKVI. UKVI have not requested for any additional documents. We have made paid enquiries up to 4 times and the responses we received is that our application is still being processed and that they have to complete all required checks both in Nigeria and UK. My question is - is there anyone on this platform that have recently done the spouse visa application (settlement route)? What is the turnaround time for your application? And/or is there anyone that have applied for spouse visa (settlement route) but still awaiting a response? Please kindly share your experience as this can help to calm down our frustrations. We are getting frustrated as we planned that my wife will arrive UK on time for our first Christmas together. Many thanks |
