Forty five-year-old Taiwo Bakare,
probably had nursed his sinister idea
for a while. But on Monday, November
10, 2013, he decided to put his plan
into action.
When the mother of 10-year-old
Blessing (not real name) had left the
shop where she sells petty goods on
Unity Street, Egan area of Igando,
Lagos, Bakare, who is a landlord on the
street, walked up to the shop where
the girl tended to her mother’s wares.
Under the pretext of buying
something, he took the girl to his
house – a small bungalow at No 45 at
the end of the long street – and defiled
her.
No one saw anything. No one heard a
noise that evening on the street as
Bakare allegedly carried out his
heinous crime. But as soon as
Blessing’s mother returned to the
shop, she knew something was amiss
because her daughter was walking
awkwardly.
“I asked my daughter what happened
to her. I pleaded with her to tell me.
She then told me that he (Bakare)
came to buy something at the shop
when I was not around and took her
home and slept with her,” the
distraught woman told the police.
Blessing reportedly told her mother
and the police that she did not know
what happened after Bakare bought
what he came for at the shop. She said
what she knew next was that he was
on top of her in his house.
The girl’s mother did not waste time in
reporting to the Igando Police Division,
where the Divisional Police Officer, Mr.
Ben Osuji, drafted some of his men to
apprehend the suspect.
“As soon as the suspect saw
policemen, he fled and ran into a canal
in the area. That was where we
arrested him,” a police source told
Saturday PUNCH.
During interrogation at the station,
Bakare blamed the usual suspect – the
devil – for his crime.
According to a statement he made at
the police station, he said he did not
know what came over him when he
took the little child home and slept
with her.
“I have four children but they are not
living with me. My wife is not living
with me as well. I would not pray for
something like this to happen to my
child because my last child is 10 years
old. I cannot pray for something like
this to happen to her. The devil made
me do it,” he said.
Bakare, a well built-man with a slight
‘pot belly’, could not deny the crime
but the life of the small girl seemed to
have been changed forever.
The police did not reveal the address
of the victim’s family on the street in
order to protect her.
When our correspondent visited Unity
Street, it was noticeably a very quiet
neighbourhood in the interior part of
Igando, Lagos.
The residents revealed that Bakare is
the Secretary of the landlord
association of the street.
The suspect’s house, a barely finished
two bedroom bungalow, where he
allegedly carried out his crime, is solely
inhabited by him, a neighbour said.
“There was no sign that he could do
something like that. In fact, I have
never thought that he could be
promiscuous let alone raping a small
girl. We were shocked when the police
came for him,” the young lady said.
A landlord two houses away from
Bakare’s, gave a similar opinion of the
suspect.
He said there had never been a sign
that he was capable of raping a minor
and there had never been any
allegation of such act on the street.
“He lives alone but could we have
appointed him secretary of the
association if we knew he was a
dangerous man? Nobody has alleged
rape here before unless they refused
to report it. Let him go and defend
himself in the court,” he said.
The police at Igando said the 45-year-
old father of four was being held on
charge of defilement as they have also
taken the victim for medical
examination in an undisclosed
hospital.
Saturday PUNCH was told he would
soon be charged to court.
However, Child Rights Activist, Mrs.
Esther Ogwu, said it was simply
“traumatic” to hear of such allegation
of someone of Bakare’s age.
She laid some of the blame of the
crime on the doorstep of the victim’s
parents.
Ogwu said, “My opinion is that many
parents are becoming very careless
about the way they leave their children
to the mercy of strangers on the
streets.
“We need to remember that children
are not like adults. They can easily be
deceived by guile. If a child for
example goes hungry, no one can say
what a stranger with a mere N50 can
do to such a child.
“Many things cause a child to be
sexually exploited. It is really annoying
because that girl has simply been
traumatised.”
She advised that the girl should be
made to go through counselling,
adding that the parents needed to
relocate from the area in order to
prevent stigmatisation by those who
may hear about the case.

Yaoundé (AFP) - Armed men abducted
a French priest in northern Cameroon,
officials and witnesses said Thursday,
nine months after Nigerian Islamists
kidnapped a family in the same border
region.
Georges Vandenbeusch, a Roman
Catholic priest who moved to the area
two years ago, had repeatedly ignored
warnings by the French authorities that
the region was dangerous.
France's foreign ministry said he was
snatched overnight from his home near
the town of Koza, about 30 kilometres
(20 miles) from the Nigerian border.
He was kidnapped by around 15 people
who burst into his Nguetchewe parish
base without a car, said the bishop of
the Nanterre diocese near Paris, which
has authority over Vandenbeusch.
"They first went to the nuns' house to
find money, there was none, and
Father Georges had the time to warn
the embassy," Gerard Daucourt told
reporters.
Vandenbeusch is 42 and had been
working in the area, where the Nigerian
Islamist Boko Haram group has
operated in the past, since September
2011.
French President Francois Hollande said
Paris was doing "everything possible"
to find and free him, but warned
French citizens against putting
themselves in harm's way.
"I would... ask all of my compatriots
who live or travel in what I would
qualify as high-risk areas to do nothing
to put their lives in danger or to expose
themselves to kidnappings," he said on
a trip to Monaco.
The foreign ministry has designated
the area, from where seven members
of a French family were kidnapped by
Al-Qaeda-linked Boko Haram in
February and held hostage for two
months, as a dangerous zone prone to
militancy and kidnappings.
"We had expressly advised him not to
stay on but he thought he should
remain there," French Foreign Minister
Laurent Fabius told AFP during a visit
to Morocco.
A French diplomatic source, who
refused to be identified, warned of an
"assassination risk" if his abductors
panicked.
A nun who worked with Vandenbeusch
told AFP the kidnappers spoke English.
Although Cameroon is predominantly
French-speaking, English is spoken in
several areas, notably near the Nigerian
frontier.
"They spoke English. We think they
came on foot. They were not hooded.
We do not know what they took from
his house. They were alone with him,"
Sister Francoise told AFP by telephone.
Cameroon government spokesman Issa
Tchiroma Bakary said Yaounde feared
that the priest had already been taken
out of the country, though he did not
say where to, and added that the
kidnap seemed to bear the hallmark of
Boko Haram.
'Don't worry, security here is good'
Father Henri Djongyang, another priest
present at the scene of the kidnap, said
Vandenbeusch was locked in his room
but the attackers "smashed open the
door and ransacked everything."
"They were certainly looking for money
because the father had a safe in his
office. They dragged it to the living
room but could not carry it away."
They then took the priest "in the
direction of Nigeria," he told Europe 1
radio.
In another interview to Radio France
Internationale, he said a young man
had seen the kidnappers make the
barefooted priest walk through the
village before fleeing with him on
motorbikes.
Vandenbeusch's former parishioners in
the Paris suburb of Sceaux were in
shock and a special prayer service was
planned for late Thursday.
"I've been shaking since I heard the
news. I don't think there is any better
priest," Catherine said as she lit a
candle for Vandenbeusch at Saint-Jean-
Baptiste church in Sceaux, where he
served for nine years before leaving in
2011 for Cameroon.
In a note published in the September
parish newsletter, Vandenbeusch had
written of fighting and shelling near his
home in the border region but said:
"Don't worry, security here is good."
Chantal Brault, the deputy mayor in
Sceaux, said Vandenbeusch knew of
the risks.
"He chose to take this risk because he
felt that he had been very spoilt in
Sceaux," Brault said, adding that
Vandenbeusch had wanted to pass on
his faith to "more complicated parts of
the world".
The latest kidnapping brings to eight
the total number of French hostages
held worldwide.
Four others are being held in Syria, one
in Nigeria and two in the Sahel region
on the southern fringes of the Sahara
desert.
In February, a Frenchman employed by
gas group Suez in Yaounde was
kidnapped together with his wife, their
four children and his brother while
visiting a national park just miles from
the Nigerian border.
They were then taken to neighbouring
Nigeria and held by Boko Haram, which
is blamed for a string of deadly attacks
since 2009 in an insurgency in
northern Nigeria.
The family was released in April. France
denied paying a ransom or launching a
military operation to secure their
freedom.

If we start giving you codes we are not helping you at all. All a person will help you with is to give you some clue.
How to retrieve data:
E.g use the sql= select from the table....bla...bla.
Use the mysql_fetech_array(bla...bla..)
Echo the data using the foreach loop thing.
If you have study a little you will get my point.
I am hardcore programmer(not far from newbie) just read a little more and all this will be a story. Hope it helps.

My own opinion,create I page for a login. Then if successful logged in then user should be redirected to a page. In that redirected page you have to do some coding in which you fetch the data from the database,It can be a select or search which ever method that will pull the data in the category needed. hope it helps

But can one really estimate a time frame between this levels. I mean if everything goes equal how long will it take for some to move to the next level starting from the hardcore level.

pc guru: Why in Gods name would you be learning Frameworks without knowing the language fully. Unless you have background in a similar language, learn php now leave frameworks for later.

just explain how it looks like when properly installed and probably a tip on how it is used..... Just curious

I am learning PHP but I don't really know what a PHP framework is.I have download some like yil, CodeIgniter,cakePHP but each time I install it on wamp and lunch it from my browser I will just see some writing(index bla..bla and folders which is in www of wamp) on my browser but if I Install CodeIgniter I see some writting and links after clicking some links I will see some code template of different category mainly writing in OOP(class etc) because i hear people say framework makes coding easier and faster I begin to wonder how because after installing mine I am yet to see how it could help me. I have done some serious googling but yet to fine a answer the deliver me from this ignorance
My question is
1.Is it that I am not installing it properly?
2.Is it just I library of code?
3.Is it like an IDE where I can type my code and it give me hints?
4.How will It look like if I install it properly?
Please, how do I start using framework effectively?
