PoliticsRe: YORUBA GRADUALLY BECOMING THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE IN SOUTHWEST by Gregdcutie(op): 8:11am On Sep 02, 2013
eGuerrilla: @OP, your efforts to arrest the renaissance of this rather determined group is pretty much futile, in my opinion.
where did he state there that the Anambra state house would be speaking igbo or igbo will now be the official lingua franca in basic levels of education. If Nigeria must remain a federal republic we must be careful to remember that we are Nigerians first

ShymmexLion: It's never going to be too late, for those who plan ahead. If you can't see the handwriting on the wall that Nigeria is heading towards a place of no-return, then I can't help you, mate. Heaven helps those who help themselves - hence why Yoruba's have started helping "themselves" by laying the foundation for all eventualities.

Anyway, that aside, how many Nigerians can communicate effectively in English language? I dare say less than 1%. And the funniest thing is that, most can't even communicate in their mother-tongue as well. So evidently, no matter how you look at it, cultural imperialism has been a lose-lose situation for African people. However, this initiative would help revive the dying African language/culture - and we as African people need to support it. Truth be told, you can never speak the English language like an Anglo-saxon - but the only ace you have is your language and and it's high time you started perfecting it before you end up like the slaves taken to the new world!
so instead of us all making concerted efforts to salvage NIGERIA we all should be saving our tribe. #Fact no tribe will survive this much anticipated revolution so in the end nothing would have been worth saving.

Chanchit: Here we go again, how can someone from another tribe become a member of lagos state assembly without being able to speak their language..? I have many Togolese and Ghanaian friends that speaks fluent yoruba, talkless of my many Igbo friends.
If you opened this thread because an elected candidate might not be able to speak yoruba, you can just ask the mods to close this thread.

Crassus: If you are not Yoruba and you have these concerns, why not move back to your state?
and if Lagos has more non yorubas in the state, why not rally behind a non yoruba and lets test your theory at the polls?

there are 36 states in Nigeria

The south west if proud of there language . If you are not proud of urs, u should RELOCATE to your state or move to another region that speaks the language u are comfortable with.

no matter how large the numbers of non indigenes are in the SW, (born there or not).YOU are just VISITING.
When the shi!t gets real, everyone will point to his fathers house
we did that with GEJ didnt we?

ShymmexLion: My thoughts: rather than venting and ranting like a raccoon with roid rage, you're better off enrolling at an elementary school - to learn how to communicate effectively in English language. I had to get Rosetta Stone to demystify the junk that you wrote up there.

Some of you will end up committing suicide with this unnecessary sense of entitlement in places/people who have absolutely nothing in common with you. If the Yoruba's decide to revive their rich culture/heritage - how does that affect you?

This initiative should be encouraged all over Nigeria!!
you just dont get it and I fear you wont ever get it till its too late

Gregdcutie: So it seemed
That is was cool
For everyone to be in a relationship but me
So I took matters into my own hands
And ended up with him
Him who displayed the characteristics of a cheater, a liar, anabuser, and a thief
So why was I surprised when he broke into my heart
I called 9-1-1
But I was cardiac arrested
For aiding and abetting
Cuz it was me who let him in
Claiming we were just friends
It was already decided for me by the first day
That even if he wasn’t
I was going to make him the one
You know I was tired of being alone
And I simply made up in my mind
That it was about that time
So I decided to drag him along for the ride
Cuz I was always the bridesmaid and never the bride
A virgin in the physical
But mentally just a grown woman on the corner in heat
Who was tired of the wait
So I was gonna make him the one
He had a form of Godliness
But, not much
But, but, Hey, Hey
I can change him
So I’ll take him
I mean he’s close
Enough
Ready to sell my aorta for a quarter
Not knowing the value of its use to me
Arteries so clogged with my will
It blocked His will from flowing through me
So I thank Christ that His blood pressure gave this heart an attack that
Flat lined my obscured vision
Put me flat on my back
Through my ignorance He saw
So through my sternum He sawed
And cracked open my chest
To transplant Psalm 51:10
A new heart
And a renewed right spirit within
So now I fully understand
Better yet, I thoroughly comprehend
How much I need to wait for you
See, the bad thing is that
I knew he was you from the beginning
Cuz in the beginning was the Word
And he didn’t even sound or shine like your Son
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks
And all he could whisper was sweet empty nothings
Which meant nothing
He couldn’t even pray when I needed him to
Asking him to fast would be absurd
So forget about being cleansed and washed with water through the Word
But I know you
You were already praying for me
Even never having met me
Let me assure you
I will wait for you
I will no longer date, socialize or communicate with carbon copies of you
To appease my boredom
Or to quench my thirsty desire for attention to short lift compliments from sorta kindas
You know he’s sorta kinda right
But, sorta kinda wrong
His first name Luke

Cuz I have thoughts that I’ve saved as in a file
That God has only equipped you to open

So if we could role play
You would be Abraham and I would be Sarah
Or you could be Isaac and I could be Rebecca
A servants answered prayer
I am bone of your bone
Flesh of your flesh
Made up of your rib, Adam
And once we meet
Like electrons I will be bound to your nucleus
Completely indivisible, Atom
We even speak the same math
1 1 1 = 3
Which really equals one if you add HIM
We were all created in His image
But you have the ability to reflect, project and even detect the Son
If I were to explain what you look like
You would have to look like a star
A son of the Son
I would gain energy simply from thelight that you shine on me
I would need you in order to complete my photosynthesis
I await your revelation but once again from the genesis
I will wait for you
And I will know you
Because when you speak I will be reminded of Solomon’s wisdom
Your ability to lead will remind me of Moses
Your faith with remind me of Abraham
Your confidence in Gods word will remind me Daniel
Your inspiration will remind me of Paul
Your heart for God will remind me ofDavid
Your attention to detail will remind of Noah
Your integrity will remind me of Joseph
And your ability to abandon your own will remind me of the Disciples
But your ability to love selflessly and unconditionally will remind me of Christ
But I won’t need to identify you by any special Matthews

2. And not that i am or will ever be advocating the use of names like satanist 4 usernames. You would weep blood 4 christ's sake if only you were previledged to see and know (of course without being taken by biase..again) what the people who bear "biblical and saints names" do behind close doors. WATCH and pray says it all. Let me clear ur doubt am a christian #a stunch catholic buh unlike u selfrighteous and sanctimonous lots am openminded

just wanted to wish all the diploma guyz success as they anticipate the result release tomorrow. For the most that will get in and trust me when i say most because the supplememtary lists that normally accompanies this entrance result is usually uncountable. Like i was saying when u get in the trick is reading like it depends on you and praying like it depends on God. Pls guyz do not wait till the 2nd semester to put in ur best, it might be too late then so from the word GO put forward ur best foot (many were not so lucky).Always remember to #READ YOUR CLASS NOTES FIRST BEFORE ANY OTHER THING....Much about diploma is cut and paste ...trust me. To my science buddies i'll recommend #AJETAIWO TUTORIALS. Always remember the feez u paid and never take ur mind of the big price "crossing over to 200 lvl". Godz speed guys and remember its not as hard as people say it is.

Omexonomy: you can see how you people are cunningly bringing SATAN THE DECIEAVER INTO THE CHRISTIAN FOLD. Continue and may ur effort be crown with failure.
confused much 4 some self righteous and sanctimonous lot. How does encouraging our brothers and sisters to be cautious amount to welcoming "satan the deciever" into our midst. Bro even the bible encourages us to be as wise as a serpent

The final rounds of the Maltina Dance All has drawn closer, as the 13 families that emerged from the 25 that participated in the qualifying segment have arrived in Lagos. "The families, who came from different locations across the country, were in high spirits as they touched down at the domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, for the academy. "A breakdown of the families that made it as released by the brand, showed that Ebenezer, Briggs, Asiyefia, Tom, Ikumoinien, Dosa, Clement, Ibrahim, Ebute, Ekado, Ibeatuchie, Nweribe and Idundun families - having passed the necessary medical and other screenings - made it into the academy and were deemed fit to compete," the organisers say in a statement. They add that a further screening will reduce the number from 13 to 10, who will eventually qualify for the entry into the academy after going through the rigours of another screening at the ''Pre Ground Audition Evaluation''. The academy commences on September 1, 2013. The sum of N6m and a brand new car are at stake in this season's competition. The first and second runners-up will take home N1, 000,000 and N500, 000 respectively.

The main bowl of the National Arts Theatre, Lagos was a beehive of heightened activity as thousands of budding dancers stormed the venue of the Lagos audition of the popular Maltina Dance All (MDA) family dance show to showcase their dancing skills as the quest to select family representatives for the Maltina dance academy continues. At the end of the long hours of competition, eight finalists emerged in the future battle to cart home the grand prize of 6 million naira, a brand new car and the highly coveted title of Nigeria’s number one dancing family. The huge turnout and skill exhibited by contestants, further confirmed Lagos, as undisputedly Africa’s major talent hub. The eight dancers who were unanimously picked by the judges are:
Blessing Ekpo, Gloria Idundun, Promise Enweribe, Peter James, Aniebet Emmanuel, Emmanuel Ibeotuche, Jackson Obinna and Ekwerre Elijah. They will however undergo comprehensive medical screening which is on-going and the medical fitness result will ultimately be the basis for the selection of their family considering the highly physical and mental rigours of a competitive dance competition like the MDA.
As expected, the Lagos auditions, was highly entertaining and indeed in consonance with this year’s Maltina Dance All theme, ‘The Evolution”. Contestants across all ages displayed a high level of dance dexterity which made it a bit challenging for even the judges to pick winners. The first day witnessed dancers between the ages of 5-12 and 30 and above, compete for prizes ranging from brand new Home Theatres, Flat screen television sets and Blackberry smartphones. For the 5-12 year category; Sunday Dolapo, a 10 year old student of Kingsplace Secondary School, emerged overall winner. While Bankole Olamide, 11 and Ibukunoluwa Agbedo, 10, took the second and third positions respectively. For the 30 and above category; 35 year old Mrs. Oluwakemi Adetula emerged overall winner while Mr. Rasheed Balogun, 31 and Ibrahim Rasak, 42, came second and third respectively. The second day was indeed intense as dancers between the ages of 13–19 and 20–30 battled it out. At the end, for the 13–19 year category, Tolu Okelowo, 19, Daniel Bernard, 17, and Daramola Oladimeji 19, came first, second and third respectively. For the 20-30 year category, Gloria Idundun, 24, Aniebet Emmanuel, 22, and Austin Ashor, 22, equally occupied the first, second and third positions respectively.
