Good morning House, Happy new year to us all. I've been an ardent follower of this thread and it was undoubtedly one of the things that kept me encouraged in my pursuit of the MBBS. I just wanted to take out my time to encourage all those that have kept the thread alive with comments and contributions. God bless us all.
However recently I started to visit other subforums on Nairaland and I stumbled on the health subforum. I was nothing short of sad and heartbroken. I want to encourage us to once in a while visit this sub-forum. It's pretty preposterous the things Nigerians are selling to others in the name of a "cure" even to diseases and conditions that science hasn't yet found a cure to. And people are buying into it, abandoning their medical treatment and paying through their noses to purchase these things yet their health keep deteriorating and I have realised that although ignorance is in part responsible, we also can be held responsible as even though there is a dearth of medical professionals in Nigeria, those left as well as us students have failed in our collective responsibility to continually encourage patients and their loved ones to desist seeking help from these people and when necessary call out these guys for what they truly are "frauds".
I have been a clinical student for a while and I've met patients whose ignorance have been exploited and others who have lost friends and loved ones to these heartless fraudsters . In our own little circle of influence we can begin to change that narrative. Let's start right here on Nairaland!. Longlivethisthread! LonglivethemedicalProfession!

Good morning House, I'm currently a full time student however I just got a letter from my local tax force requesting for a submission of annual income declaration. I'm confused as to what to do, Do I ignore the letter, is this something that students usually get. Please advice

P/S When we say pray for priest we recognise that priests are human who have been called to celibacy. We encourage them with our prayers to remain steadfast in the Lord. it doesn't translate to praying for the priests who have abused children and ignoring the victim's. You really don't know how many trials the churc has been through in the past. I repeat no human institution not ordained by God would have withstood all the church has gone through in the past. The future is really bleak for Nigeria how people can comfortably vote back a government that has owed salaries continuously still beats my imagination.... Over the past fours years, I've been a strong admirer and a follower of this thread..

Here, I met a lot of personalities whom their words had been a source of encouragement in my staunch pursuit for a place in the Medical school.

The founding fathers of this thread in Lagusta, Josh, Ashashacash, DrHesjay and a host of others with their constant contributions deserve mentions.

Bobola07, Historian, and many of whom I met on Ibadan's thread deserve mentions also. If I drop my former monicker, I believe many of you would accede with me that its been a long way coming.

I gained admission into a course I had never wanted but chose to accept it on the virtues of family pressure and the fear of being left behind by my friends but It was a decision I've cultivated ambivalent feelings about. I became a shadow of my old self, my results were nothing to write home about in my second year; I had many carry overs and this was as a result of jamb exam coupled with hatred for the path I've chosen, though I'll be done this year; my recovery was just God's grace.

But to cut the long story short, I've just been admitted into Medicine and Surgery by the University of Benin making me a full blown member of this thread and I dedicate this success to God and every member of this thread, Thanks and God bless you all.
