Politics / Re: How President Tinubu Was Welcomed In China (Video) by Greyworld: 6:22am On Sep 06
DeLaRue:
Nigeria - big, strong, and powerful.

China measures the extent of it ceremonial welcome very carefully.

This level of welcome is reserved for governments it holds in the highest regard.

Foreign countries and institutions are not stupid. They know Mr Tinubu's economic reforms are the key to turbo charging this giant called Nigeria.

Removal of subsidy has been welcome by IMF, World Bank, UK, Europe, and most countries.

In the past they wondered how a country that needed infrastructure and development so desperately could be borrowing heavily to pay fuel subsidy. They looked at us from afar and shook their heads in silence, thinking, how stupid!

Did anyone notice that during the recent protests ambassadors of European countries in Nigeria issued a statement saying the government's reforms were necessary. It is very rare for these countries to intervene directly and openly like that to support an African government.

Nigerians, please let us remove this corrosive subsidy pata pata so the money can go into other areas.

In the past 10 years, this last 2 months have been the period when I have spent the least to fuel my generator. And I am not even in Band A. It means electricity is improving. Other things will improve too in due course.

Let's persevere in the short term, and I hope the government can find quick, effective ways to help those that are most affected by the current hardship.

This is our opportunity to make changes that previous government should have made. We must not waste this opportunity.

The reason other Presidents did not make these changes was because they knew they would be very unpopular. Mr Tinubu knows this too, but he is putting the interest of the country first. He has said if he is not re-elected, he doesn't mind as long as these essential changes are made.

What more can you ask of a leader?

Stop bleating like a goat on heat sir, in 2012 Jonathan removed subsidy and your lord and personal savour led an insurrection against him.
Now under Jonathan with no subsidy petrol was less than 150/l today your messiah is doing 1200/l and climbing.

This your comment na GBAM! 👍. You just reaffirmed what have always thought about them. That it's their indifferent/nonchalant attitude towards Nigerian politics that has been their undoing so far and continues to, unless there is a paradigm shift . Else the Yorubas and the Hausas would continue to lord over them in national politics.
Could be because of their grievances over their inability to part ways with this colonial Britain's contraption that's why they care less about Nigerian political matters 🤔.
Oshey!!! Landlord and caretaker.
How is the protest??

Let's stop this abeg! undecided

The Nigerian constitution allows the Nigerian people to change their minds and take back their mandate; this is particularly useful in the case that they are no longer satisfied with the person they have given it to. So, please dead this nonsense about how people were warned and all of that. It is in the past. Now, Nigerians know they made a mistake and are now giving the man one last chance before they fire him. That is where we are now. undecided

By the way, the argument had been that the man was not unanimously elected by the Nigerian people; the vote counts serve as evidence of this. So, I think it is unfair to blame any one person or group for Tinubu being in power. The man somehow rigged himself in, and one of the good things Nigerians are calling for is a complete abandonment of the 1999 Constitution to implement a new one voted for by the people that would contain checks and balances to ensure a Tinubu never happens to Nigerians again. undecided
Oga if the East had protested by now we all know what the narratives would have been. Let those who are unhappy with the government protest, the East loves the government of the day so let's allow them.

It is equally their constitutional right not to protest.

This is why I don't see Nigerians winning this struggle against these evil politicians. We're so divided. Igbos have never taken any decisive step in the polity of things in Nigeria since the days of zik. They're always neither here nor there when it comes to affairs of the Nation. They always stand aloof.

When the time for election comes too, they all have the Lowest turn out. How dem wan become president or obi winning the presidenncy. Yorubas are still protesting despite the president being a Yoruba man. That's why we shall always be reckoned with in Nigeria.
Shame on your education. What was the outcome of the endsars protest? Igbos have no hand in your protest against who is in power. Enjoy your yoruba presidency and protest against him if you like.

You are looking for who ll take the fall right? Your hatred for Igbos ll kill you if you don't repent.

I Hope tomorrow if we turn down whoever coming from South East at national level for presidency won’t be termed as B!gotry….

You are no where to be found at national struggle and deserve no chance to lead a nation that is multi diverse like Nigeria!

Hope you listen to your Simon Ekpa not to contest also.

So you agree now Tinubu is a wrong choice and a bad market

If yes then protest alone and change your choice.

HomoDroid:

I'm a Christian, but I must say the Government did not really subsidize Hajj - it's just that their communication apparatus is just too dumb to carry Nigerians along. The fact is that Hajj fee is dollar based and was fixed and many intending Pilgrims have already paid or been sponsored by their respective State Governments before the FX crashed badly. The repercussion is that the amount already paid by prospective pilgrims became inadequate due to the new naira equivalent of the Hajj fee dollar FX. At that point, the FG and state governments controlling pilgrims became obliged to make up the differential, as asking the pilgrims to pay more will result in serious political and religious backlash (two very critical issues in our jurisdiction).

One might blame the Government for getting involved with pilgrimage in the first place, but these people are actually ambassadors of the country in a way and government ought to have a sort of control over their behaviour out there. More so as the President is looking forward to securing Foreign Direct Investment from the Arabs. We cannot expect our government to show nonchalance to one of the very important products of the Saudi Government.
No point here. The FG should have stayed out of it this year.

We are too emotional and sentimental in this country. Y'all shouting bogus allocation for lawmakers, what is the percentage of their money in our national income to what workers are taking every month? You can't even compare the ratio. Political office holders throughout the country don't even make up to 3 percent of total government workers in the country. Only heavy workers wages can sink the country into unrecoverable debt and total collapse, politicians take home is too megre to achieve similar purpose. Criticise wisely fellow compatriots undecided

You missed the mark... the disparity between the common man and the political class is just too wide. Hence the pain. If a man be a senator can earn 30million a month and a man can't earn 200k a month then there is bound to be tension. Simple

Not like he flew the plane himself, definitely he would be sleeping half the flying time. Besides Doha which is about 7hrs or so, the others are 1hr or less by air.

Now imagine what you are celebrating, not cheap prices for goods, not increased employment, not high security or better living standard not even ordinary electricity (to roast corn)

Dude you're celebrating a president flying from Abuja to ondo to lagos...

Tinubu is also perceived by them to be a strong personality, PO for example would know not have known what to do, and even if he did would not have had the courage non the acceptance to do the right thing.
