We used to do cheap tarrifs for phones. Back then only the rich had phones. When GSM came in , the tarrifs shot up. people like you were saying that it meant that phones where for the rich.

The investment that flowed in as a result of those high tarrifs made many poor people in Nigeria able to own a phone

We got to face the hard truth. Cheap electricity is a misnomer. Either it is paid for by taxes, by cost reflective tarrifs or by a country changing from a resource dependent to a industrial nation or by debt and more loans

Nigeria has failed because your leaders and you the followers do not want the country to be an industrial nation. You want free stuff

So people should pay all the earn electricity bills because Nigeria is oil reliant and whose fault is that? Mine. Lets agree with your logic for second, Nigeria has only crude oil right? There is nothing else in the stone cold, ice desert called Nigeria so we must die on crude oil or we perish eh?

Stop this my good man. Stop trying to justify evil for posterity sake. Telecos are ripping Nigerians, I already told you people pay 4% for telephone and the equivalent even though Nigeria telecos delivers crappy services too gulps over 30% of the minimum wage.

If our reliance on crude oil is our problem then it's still the fault of the government not the people. Taxes are paid not to finance live style of politians or give them generational wealth but to cushion the cost these basic amenities.

You didnt address the points I raised. In these countries where people pay a fraction of their income on these AMENITIES, (though they complain too) but it is still not cheap to generate electricity there

If you will, agree with me that successive governments have failed woefully in power generation and distribution and that includes Tinubu (whom you covertly support.)

Power generation and distribution isnt solely a business controlled by investors and private individuals, the government is a key stakeholder, hence when things like this are discussed, we should be objective, compare ourselves to our betters and strive to getter to a higher place... Not making excuses for the ineptitude of people who should be held responsible.

Imagine saying electricity cost a lot of money, then people should earn a lot of money also. Mind you these countries too, not every one earn minimum wage too. Minimum wage is mainly high school students or beginners.

Yeah, I agree with you. Even the telecom industry, we are being ripped off without remorse. 100 or 90 GB in MTN cost 25k that is about 35% of minimum wage. You still pay for calls nation wide.

Now Rogers gives 100 gb for I think 50 to 80 dollars thats less than 4 percent of minimum wage. And calls nation wide are free. So how is the telecom industry even better with their crappy network.

Stop saying this without putting it into real context. So minimum wage is 70k a month, how much or how many percent of the minimum wage should go into electricity bill and and pray tell how much you think or know people pay already. This will enable us know if we are paying enough or not.

Because you cant expect a household whose income is 200 monthly to pay 50k for 24/7 electricity. That wont make much sense.

Edited: so I did a lil research and for Band A, a kw is 209- 225 so a household using 200kw a month pays up to 45k monthly. Not sure how accurate this research is but thats about 64% of the minimum wage.

Now in Manitoba, (one of the cheapest in canada) it's cost about 220 dollars monthly thats about 7.8% of the minimum wage.

Finally , we shouldnt just look at it from a point of high cost to better value, some other intricacies are involved and that is where the government, good government comes in.

I believe medical services to test for the health of unborn infants should be made available and affordable to all who can do it.

It can actually make a normal man mentally unstable.

It is best to know how the child is and decide whether to keep or pass.

I have reasons to believe it is a common test they do during pregnancy in some developed countries now. I dont for sure if it done In Nigeria or how common or cheap it would be. Only a person without experience of special need child wont understand. That test should be compulsory and FREE
