Alonso can't be that bad though. The Serie A is a grooming ground for good defenders. Their tactical knowledge of the game is what I admire most. It's more of technique than brutality.
I just hope the Spaniard learnt one or two vital lessons there. |

Nihilist: I think you need to re-read the links you posted.
They actually suggests that a TD is less responsible for tranfers Less responsible? From your perspective, who calls more of the shot? The manager? |

lalaboi: Don't care what anyone says. . Whoever is behind this purchase of Alonso for 20Mil and Luiz for 34Mil is making a mockery of us fans.
To think we were all hailing them for selling off Luiz for 40M back then, they have just undone whatever level of highness or pride we had from that deal. .
What is an Alonso for 20M?? " The presence of a director of football acts as an intermediary between the manager and the board and may relieve pressure on a manager by handling aspects away from day-to-day coaching, allowing a manager to focus on on-pitch performance. The director may also help to stabilise the club – many examples exist of director stepping in as a caretaker manager on the departure of the manager. The director – often an experienced football figure – may also positively advise a less experienced manager or the board of a less well developed club." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Director_of_football''Generally though it is often perceived both within and outside the football club as an alternative form of the dreaded vote of confidence for an under-performing or inexperienced manager. At other times, this appointment is viewed as a direct threat to the manager's autonomy and authority and often marks the literal 'beginning of the end' for the manager in question at a specific club. The technical director role is generally different to that of a director of football, a position which usually involves overseeing the signing of players'' https://www.quora.com/What-does-a-technical-or-sporting-director-at-a-football-club-doThat explained, I'll have to ask, who is our technical director? Ans: Micheal Emenalo. Lalaboi look no farther for your answer. |

Nihilist: Oga o...
I hail you. Just out of curiosity, can you please tell me who Conte has definitely signed this season? Cos I haven't seen him shaking anybody's hand... Inasmuch as I've been towing the path of sarcasm, I still believe most of these 'shady' deals are being sanctioned by Emenalo. Believe me, I am not doing that over-flogged debate of who signs who and who doesn't sign who, but we all know that it is the TD who sanctions transfers, abi the role got re-defined in Emenalo's case? |

Nihilist: To be honest, I don't even care about Koulibaly.
Splashing 40m+ on a centreback is just a waste. Splashing 40m+ on a good but not great centreback like Koulibaly who will still go to AFCON at a crucial time of the season would have been folly.
It's the panic buying of Luiz that is the problem. We could have grabbed Mustafi from Arsenal. Heck even Ashley Williams would have done as a short term fix. I would have even taken Mangala on loan. Instead we went and bout Luiz for over 30m.
I just need to know who to blame for this - Emenalo or Conte... Conte is chilling off somewhere in Italy. Before he left, he had already instructed the Stamford Bridge hierarchy to land him a decent CB and of course a good LB. He must have also instructed them to chase targets that would suit his conservative approach (Romagnalio, Koulibaly et al). He is chilling off in Italy because it's the international week. Oh Jesus! He's chilling off in Italy, seriously nyanshing the wife and spending some time at the beach while. . . while these evils get committed. Seun don't tell me you don't know who the usual suspect is? Well, they say pictures don't lie brah.

For pete's sake, make this deal happen! Chelsea are willing to meet Wolfsburg's £22m valuation of left-back Ricardo Rodriguez, the Daily Mirror reports, and hope to conclude a deal for the Switzerland international before the transfer window closes.
Rodriguez, who has previously been targeted by Arsenal, Real Madrid and Roma, is under contract in Germany until 2019 but wants to move on.
Signing a new left full-back has not been Chelsea's priority, but a deal for Rodriguez would allow Antonio Conte greater flexibility in defence, with Cesar Azpilicueta able to go to right-back and Branislav Ivanovic then free to play at centre-half. |
