I don't know what everyone have against 12v systems ó. But if you are not running hot plate, ac, microwave 12v can work for you. My 12v carries all appliances in my house. I don't use my microwave with it. But my washing machine, fridge and freezer, TV and fans all work well. bassdow: in addition to what's said by @Unfaized, at lower Voltage, you need more current hence 24v system is more efficient than 12v system BUT same 24v system is not as efficient as 36v system and same 36v system is not as efficient as 48v system and same 48v system is not as efficient as 96v system, and so on. So you see, the Higher the voltage system, the more efficient the system is and that also translates to longer battery life.
Now when you alre coming from a 12v system, there's always no room for upGrade to higher systemhence you end up dispossing off the entire thing and starting again from begining which means you spend much more.
I also kinda agree with @dollarnaira BUT it really need be stressed that it doesn't always apply + you really need know what you doing which if you do, wouldn't be asking this question in the first place. There's a reason @dollarnaira said you Must use Sense.
Personally, I run both 12v system and 48v system and guess what, I have reasons why I still run 12v system despite having a much more efficient 48v system. mind you, even my 12v system doesn't even run with inverter HENCE it's even much more efficient than a lot of 12v systems out there.
So except you know what you doing (have sense) like said by @dollarnaira, and your useCase favours such 12v system, you are always better off with something higher.
of course if your load is just a small TV, charging of phpoones, a couple of Lights, and a couple of DC fans, then by all means use 12v system as it's much more cheaper. In fact you could add small fridge / freezer if you have solar panels to help.
In physics, there's reason we have the formular P=IV and guess what, you can't reduce voltage without increasing current and no matter how much sense you wanna use, the P would always remain constant else something would be wrong someWhere. Let's pretend to also notice the formular V=IR which also plays it's own role.
Make we no try dey change wetin other people forefathers discovered while our own foreFathers were busy doing religion and inventing parables |

Yes hoover420: Quick question, once the battery is full, any watt coming from the panel will be used on any load carried on the inverter right. I mean if my total load is 250w and the PV is producing above that, does that mean we are using the sun directly? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Gshems: 2:52pm On Apr 01 |
Well I have 2 535w and I get 650w before 10am it only reduces when my battery is full SourYoghurt: I have 3x 550w jinko for my 12v 2kva inverter and on a regular charging I get 350w, I need to mention that I treat it like an egg, max load it takes is less than 150w, but I get up to 1.2kw input from the panels when I am blending during the day. I think some of these inverters behaves like ajebo when they don't have enough loads. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Gshems: 12:12pm On Apr 01 |
2 possibilities : it's either it is a fake or the angle that you installed it. hoover420: I got this particular panel and I thought it was just small panel till it got delivered. Infact I had to wait till everyone was out and in the evening before I installed because I know if the landlady see it, she might not accept to get it installed. Now the installer is telling me that I’ll need atleast 2 to allow my inverter to charge fast. I was like which kind wahala be this one. A 1.5kva inverter though. Now my question is, can I get a lower panel like 200 watt to compliment it or I’ll have to buy that exact 535 watt bi facial panel again? Meanwhile since I installed it 5 days ago, the highest it has produced is 250 watt and lower, I don’t know it it is due to the weather or that is the highest it would be generating |

AyobamiOluwole: Has anyone ever run their Fridge on a modified sine wave satchet inverter before?
How was the experience? Is it advisable?
For more context: It’s an LG REFRIGERATOR of 199Litres. No. Better to buy a pure sine wave. That modified some wave dey get choco sometimes even with phone charger |

Is this true? Opistorincos: You want to series your current 12v battery with the used one you're hoping to buy? If the batteries do not have the same BMS, that is a recipe for disaster. |

Series náà. If it is 2 panels. But if you want to add more panels it has to be parallel sirneyo2005: Please what is the best way to connect two 650watt solar panels to a 12v system currently connected in parallel thinking of changing to series to reduce stress on cables but I feel that current might exceed the 20% spike during cold weather. charge controller is 60amps with maximum voltage of 135v, PV cable is 2by8 10mm copper cable. Thanks for your response |

Please don't buy tubular. Also go for large panels. Telling you this from experience rayvelez: Hello guy please I need your advice as my sister is about to pay for 3.2kva inverter installation to power her 2 freezer cold drinks business… her total budget is 1.5M. Is it advisable to go for tubular batteries as the attachment below say… Abeg don’t air me |

Bro Na the mc4 connectors ó. Ẹ Don burn. I have Done it the old ways like you did yours. Everything is working perfectly. @9am I am already getting 650w from 2 535w panels. In anything you do, buy original jinko panels fuckboys: maybe you didn't use a panel rack placing the panels directly on the roof. Check very well some wires already burned out under intense heat and touching the roof or causing bridging.
Something like this has happened to me before until I use panel rack. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Gshems: 5:19am On Mar 26 |
Bro, it is jinko 535W. I have called the guy that mounted the panels. fuckboys: what type of solar panels is that?
Trace your solar cables up to the panels, or use a multimeter to check for bridges in the solar cable. |

Make una help me o Gshems: Guys abeg, my wife got home to see our inverter beeping with error code 04. I told her to swith off the breaker one by one till we found out that it is the pv input that is causing the fault. When I got home, I isolated the breaker cos I just got that 2 days ago (still the same). The moment I disconnected the pv cable from the breaker it stops. My inverter is currently working when my pv cable disconnected. But when the pv cable is connected it starts to hum and show fault code 04. This was around 6:30pm. I just replaced my old panels to 2 535 in series 2 days ago. Anyone with similar experience |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Gshems: 12:57pm On Mar 25 |
lungwun: Just received word that a connection lost their home on Sunday due to Solar/Inverter/Battery system fire.
Are there any IP65 rated batteries and Inverters? If i jump into solar because AEDC are more useless than two follicles of hair, I really do not want it in my house anymore.
IP65 rating will help with outdoor placement make people no cut cost on wires. Wires and breakers are major cause of these fires. An installer once used a 1.5mm wire for my inverter connection. Once day I went there as a curious person and I saw that the wires are burning already. The insulation was already burnt. I upgraded everything to 2.5mm. |
