"Henry fails for France"! lipsrsealed

Henry is without doubt one of the best players in football today, yet his form for club and country have looked worlds apart, world class domestically, pedestrian on the international stage.

So what is it about the talismanic forward and his country that fails to combine?

There are many excuses that have been bandied about after France's opening game against Switzerland, the pitch was too dry and the referee was too harsh just two of the moans from the French camp.

Could it simply be that the tactics Les Bleus employ just do not work?

Looking at Arsenal we can see that there is width, Fredrik Ljungberg, Robert Pires and Alessander Hleb offering quick balls into Henry as well as giving him balls to run onto.

For France, there is very little natural width, Franck Ribery likes to cut inside or run for himself, and the ageing Zinedine Zidane does not provide the same consistent energy and service up to Henry as Cesc Fabregas.

The role given to Henry by the two coaches could be the reason for his erratic form for France.

Arsene Wenger allows him to roam. You will frequently see the forward on the left wing, dropping deep into midfield or hanging out on the touchline.

Raymond Domenech, on the other hand, uses Henry as an out-and-out striker. He rarely drops into midfield to collect the ball and is not as involved in forward play as he is for Arsenal.

For France to be successful in the World Cup it is imperative that they play to Henry's strengths.

He carried Arsenal to a Champions League final and his brilliance has changed many a game. Domenech needs to allow Henry to roam, then he will be able to provide an attacking option both with goals and support play which France desperately need.

Henry has the potential to be the best player ever to grace the game, but until he can consistently perform for his country he will always be dogged by the suggestion that he can go missing in big games.

Brazil win, tho Croatia made em work 4 that victory

it certainly wasnt a stroll in the park for da Samba Boyz

Klasnic was very good,a constant thorn in that brazil defence

i doubt if Ronaldo was on the field, other than 1 shot blazed high and wide, didnt see much of him

Kaka was the best player for the brazilians tonite

and even though the Croats lost they can look forward to the next game with confidence

cuz they more than held their own against mighty Brazil
