Politics › Re: No Assassination Attempt On Dino Melaye – Abuja Police Commissioner by gunuvi(m): 8:54pm On Apr 17, 2013 |
Let me give you a brief analysis here. Before 2007, did anyone hear ElRufai, Ribadu, etc criticize the government? Capital NO, why? Because they were feeding from our commonwealth then and he who is eating don't talk.
Now Dino, before 2011 when he was still in the house of Reps collecting salaries and allowances that surpassed the US presidents salary, did he criticise the government? Capital NO, why? Because he was part of them then and also feeding from our commonwealth.
From 2011, the likes of Dino, Elrufai etc suddenly became activists and government critics all because they have been pushed aside. We Nigerians are easily decieved cos of our short memory or else, none of the past politicians should not be taken serious and infact they ought to be avoided, despised and hated because they all contributed to where we are now but instead many people still celebrate them.
Everyday armed robbers kills innocent civilians, poverty are increasing daily, education are becoming expensive for the poor, no power supply, no roads accidents are taking more lives daily..painfully, we hardly discuss these unless its is massive or involve a VIP, those of poor people are never discussed nor give any attention.
My people, let's forget about Dino Melaye assassination attempt or the police response cos both of those are part of why Naija is where we are now. They are both known for lying, corruption, and an enemy of Nigeria. May God punish both of them. |

By the time gej fight all his strongholds finish we will see who will remain to canvass for him come 2015. At a time APC and all those super opposition re mending fences and romancing even some key oppositions to their side, GEJ is busy fighting internally. GEJ is a small boy when it comes to Nigeria politics, he is just being used by that former old Gongola state Gov, Tukur to finally achieve the northern agenda of returning power to the north. Time will tell. |

Crime › Re: Olofin Lateef Adeniran Akanni Of Ado-Odo Beaten, Stripped, & Palace Burnt by gunuvi(op): 9:56am On Apr 16, 2013 |
saintjoel: Actually I'm from Ado-odo and although till this moment, things are really sketchy because we've not heard what really happened from any official source but from reports we heard, the Oba's driver and a motor cyclist where arguing over who had the right to pass on a road and the Oba had to come down to slap the man,he was alleged to have asked him who his father was in Ado to have argued with his driver, before people knew what was happening, the guy beat him up and his palace was burnt, the man who beat him up was arrested but later released. I'll also like to tell those who are cursing my town to please stop whatever they are saying,if you don't know how all this started,it's better you keep quiet. The issue of Obaship is one issue that hasn't been managed well in Ado,the people claim they want Muniru, the courts installed Lateef, but the bone of contention is,we have actually told each camp especially the Oba Lateef camp to make peace moves amongst the aggrieved members of the community, rather all they sought was vengeance and it was like the yoruba saying of ati ti oje bo olosa lowo,ko si baba eni ti o le bo,there were cases of police arresting their opponents, shooting and killing and I even witnessed one, where on a sunday morning, mobile policemen raided our town and for a week it was like a war zone and Oba Lateef had to move with police escorts, even if these stories were rumours, the Olofin-in-council should have made moves to approach everyone who feel they are aggrieved but no,they kept to themselves and it turned into a sitiation where even the youth leader they installed can't boast of organising a youth meeting and five youths will attend. The state government, the Oba and indigenes haven't managed the crisis properly. Under OGD's tenure, curfew was introduced when houses were burnt and people killed, even the SIA led government gave them letters to appear before the truth commission which till date,we've heard nothing about. But it still remains a fact the Oba and his subjects need to learn from this issue,he's not a king over a group,he's a king over Ado,we've always begged him to come out to address people,he'll not show up. I was in his palace for two days to talk to him,his subjects kept telling he was sleeping. Likewise the Muniru camp too,I was at Isabo court to plead for peace and they too refused, even our politicians failed to call both camps to order, they insisted on dethroning him,so what should an average person in Ado do? It's a sacrilege on the stool of the Olofin but it has happened, each group should please learn lessons from this incident and let peace reign in Ado-odo. May God bless you for this detailed unbiased explanation. We pray he survived this and appreciates that making peace is 100000% easier than seeking vengeance. Many people don't know. |

Crime › Olofin Lateef Adeniran Akanni Of Ado-Odo Beaten, Stripped, & Palace Burnt by gunuvi(op): 11:43pm On Apr 15, 2013 |
There was pandemonium yesterday in Ado-Odo area of Ogun State as the palace of a monarch, the Olofin of Ado-Odo, Oba Lateef Adeniran Akanni, was razed by some aggrieved youths.
The monarch, Nigerian Compass learnt, had been having a running battle with some interest groups in the community, who allegedly did not want him despite a Supreme Court judgement validating his appointment three years ago.
According to sources, Oba Akanni was hospitalised following the severe beating he received from the rampaging youths.
The burnt palace has also been deserted as wives, children, family members and servants fled the area apparently for fear of being attacked again.
Trouble was said to have started for the traditional ruler when his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was flagged down by some people in the community.
In the process of attending to the people, the unsuspecting monarch was dragged out of his vehicle, beaten and stripped.
Though the incident may not be unconnected with the chieftaincy crisis in the town, another source attributed it to an alleged accident involving the monarch a few days ago.
Oba Akanni, according to the source, allegedly failed to visit a victim of the accident, a development which reportedly infuriated some community youths who plotted the attack.
The violence prompted the state Police Commissioner, Ikemefuna Okoye, and the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Muyiwa Oladipo, to visit the area and douse tension.
Confirming the incident in a telephone interview yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said normalcy had been restored to the community.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), however, said he was unaware of the alleged stripping of the monarch.
“I know some people went to the palace and attacked the Oba of Ado-Odo but normalcy has been restored to the town. The Commissioner of Police has been there and we are going to ensure that the needful is done to bring all those involved in the act to book,” he added.
Also yesterday, the Ogun State government appealed to the people of Ado-Odo community to shun violence and maintain peace in order to promote socio-economic development of the state.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Muyiwa Oladipo, the government described the attack on the monarch as “sheer lawlessness.”
Oladipo said there were ways the people could adopt to show their displeasure over the installation of the monarch that was reinstalled by the Supreme Court of the land rather than resorting to burning of houses, beating people and harassing the monarch.
While assuring the people of the state government’s readiness to find a lasting solution to the chieftaincy crisis, the commissioner said a panel of inquiry would be set up to look into the remote and immediate causes of the attack.
He called on all the sons and daughters of the community to come and tender relevant information that could be of assistance in resolving the crisis. http://www.compassnewspaper.org/index.php/component/content/article/35-headlines/12358-ogun-monarch-beaten-stripped-palace-burnt |
