Events / 5 Exciting Ways To Make This Xmas Memorable by Gwekzy: 10:45am On Dec 22, 2013
Christmas is barely a few days away & everyone one is gearing up for the festive season. Schools have closed, offices rounding off their year’s projects, local market men & women counting their gains & loses, armed personnel returning back to their families for the same reason, everyone’s happy that the good times are here again; at least, not everyone.

Some argue that Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate wasn’t born on the 25th. They say Christians just made that up & more likely, commercialized that day for their own personal gains. Well, either ways, I’ll say we still are happy because it gives us the opportunity to experience certain things we wouldn’t have been privileged to witness all year through.

It goes way beyond the customary rice & chicken, buying of new clothes, receiving gifts, playing of fire crackers, visit to the beach or maybe travelling back home to see our grand folks. From my opinion, it is meant to be a day of retrospect. A day to look back upon one’s past actions & judge if one made the right decision at every given instance.

It goes way beyond showing love. It supersedes that. One cannot give what one doesn’t have. You can’t show love to your neighbor if you don’t love yourself equally. So this is that special season to make amends, to quit that habit you feel is bad for your health, to stop that routine you feel doesn’t play out well on your spiritual life, to eat more of the diet your body craves & not what your nose or tongue perceives to be right.

With a thorough change of life style & attitude towards life, I bet you’ll be just fine. Only then would your inner peace radiate outwardly & positively affect your neighbors & immediate surroundings.

I don’t want to bore you to pieces with my doctrine, I’ll probably have to skip that & go straight to business.

Listed below are 5 exciting ways to make this Christmas more memorable.

1. Forgive
This is by far the most important of them all. Encapsulated in this one verb is the key to true happiness. Judging from the doctrine that’ll be preached all over the world on that day, I feel this is the most urgent to put to practice.

Forgive yourself for the hurt or pain you may have inflicted on yourself in the past, forgive that family member who always seems to take you for a ride based on your blood ties, forgive that irritating fellow that cons himself/herself as your friend

Christmas is never complete with that extra burden on your chest. It’s too much load for the season. You need to shed if off to allow room for all the joy & fun to settle in, only then would you feel free to enjoy the magic that comes with the season! Need I say more

2. Ask & It Shall Be Given
Just like the proverbial verse in the good book which says, ‘ask & it shall be given unto thee’. I assure you that taking this bold step to ask someone for something, eliminating the pride attached to belittling yourself before the person, would be worth it this season.

A lot of hassle can be avoided by this rather simple, yet hard gesture to request from someone, an assistance you know quite well the person can grant. As far as you are not asking for an Aston Martin or something similar, the person would be obliged to grant your request because of the yuletide season.

I have been struggling with my hair clipper for a while now. I never seem to make out time to take it to the technician’s shop to get it fixed, so I always have to struggle to shave my beard or cut my hair (am bald by the way, so you bet, I cut my hair at least twice a week).

I got so frustrated one Saturday evening trying to cut my hair. I couldn’t go to a barbing salon because I was half way done with my hair. I just couldn’t fathom walking into a salon & causing a riot because of the patches on my hair. The only option I had was to ask my elder brother for his clipper.

At first, I didn’t want to because he always beckoned on me to fix mine but most times, I just procrastinate so I never got to. After much deliberation, I mustered up courage & made up my mind to accept any verbal bashing in good faith.

To be frank, nothing of such happened. He was busy on the phone so he motioned to me where to get it & I was off. I felt so relieved & thanked the heavens. It can only get better.

3. Go Pay A Visit To Santa Claus

This sure sounds funny. As an adult, you’ll be asking yourself, ‘Why on earth should I go see a portly man with fake white beard?’ That’s the point! Yes, you should go see that legendary character because it’s Christmas. You don’t get the chance to visit Santa any other day of the year so why trade such a ‘pre-historic-magical-meeting’ with hanging out with your friends on a beach. You’ll surly get to do that all year round so why complain.

Probably as a child, you never got the chance to visit Santa, so why not do it now? Or maybe if you did, you surly don’t have fresh memories of that day, do you? So what are you waiting for? Take a couple of your friends out & go see that old man. Just laugh, sit on his laps & take pictures!!! You won’t regret you did!

4. Eat Fish, Not Chicken
I feel it’s high time we give our feathered friends a break, don’t you think so? They must be literally sweating their tiny pants now by the mere thought of Christmas. Growing up as a child, I’ve always been of the notion that the tastiest of chickens were prepared only on Christmas. I thought wrong.

Everywhere you go, MacDonald’s, Nando’s, KFC to mention a few, all you get to eat is mouth watering chicken, chicken & more chicken!!! Be it flame-grilled-PERi-PERi chicken, barbecued chicken, chicken nugget, chicken parmesan, name it!!! Gosh! The list is endless!

Why don’t we try out a new recipe called, ‘change’, since that’s the spice of life. We can search the internet for different foreign recipes for preparing a fresh water fish delicacy. Do I have to add that fish has more nutritional values than meat?
Yeah! I bet you, a well prepared fish meal might just do the trick this season, as long as you mix the correct spices though. Good luck on that!

5. Give, Share, Offer Some More Help
Virtually no Christmas is complete without this last ritual. Making this a habit all year long is encouraged but if you feel am been too sarcastic, surly you’ll agree with me that just one day of sharing one’s time, resources & offering a helping hand is a must do this season.

You are never too poor or too classy to offer help to your neighbor. You don’t need to search long & hard to find someone who needs that extra special care from you.

At least even if you can’t think of anyone, I equally am a worthy candidate. You can show me you care & appreciate the time I set out to make this article available to you by leaving a comment!

Happy a wonder day & I wish you a belated Christmas.

God bless!!!
Romance / 8 Ways To Get Over An Unhealthy Obsession With An Ex by Gwekzy: 1:27pm On Dec 21, 2013
It’s only natural when a relationship ends to think about it endlessly. You wonder what you did wrong, how you could have done things better, you miss the other person terribly. However, if this stage continues too long, it risks becoming an obsession, and that isn't healthy. Here are some tips for getting over an obsession.

1. TIME HEALS

When you first break up with someone, and it wasn't your choice, you feel as though you will never get over them. This feeling can last for a long time. I speak from experience though when I say that eventually you do realize that you no longer feel the same way. It takes time.

2. AVOID LOOKING

Are you ‘friends’ with your ex on Facebook or MSN or or Yahoo Msgr, Whatsapp? Delete them. Otherwise it’s very tempting to check up on them constantly and see what they’re doing. This can only make things worse when you inevitably see photos of them with someone else, or see that they are in a new relationship.

3. REPLACE

I don’t mean replace them with someone else – never get into a rebound relationship, as it won’t work. What you need to do is find something else to occupy your mind. Look for distraction, and this will help you to think less about your ex.

4. KEEP BUSY

You don’t need to fill every minute of every day, but you do need to keep yourself occupied so that the obsession doesn't take over. Find a new hobby, go out with friends, work hard (but not too hard), plan a trip – anything that stops you from sitting around moping.

5. CHANGE PLACES

Did you and your ex always go to the same places? Look for some new places to hang around, rather than crying into your drink in that little bar or that restaurant you used to frequent together. Also, don’t go to locations where you know they’ll be in the hope of seeing them. That’s not healthy.

6. FACE FACTS

It’s natural to mourn the end of a relationship, as we invest so much of ourselves and our hopes in them. But it doesn't always work out the way we had hoped, and we have to face that. For whatever reasons, the other person doesn't want to be with us, and there is no way of changing that. So don’t keep hoping they’ll come back.

7. ASK WHY

If a relationship ends, ask yourself why. Avoid simply blaming yourself, however. It’s always useful to learn from what went wrong, so that you don’t repeat the same mistakes. For example, do you always go for the wrong type of guy, or are you too needy?

8. WRITE DOWN

Yes, get it all down on paper (or screen). Write down everything that you feel, all the anger, hurt and upset. But DO NOT SEND!!! This will help you express your feelings without leading to consequences – and when you look back, you will realize that your feelings have changed.

We can all get rather fixated on an ex, and convince ourselves that they are the only person we will ever love. It’s not true, of course. Have you ever found yourself in the middle of an obsession with someone, and how did you get over it?

tete7000: Did I hear the OP used the work overtake in the right up? The only way China can overtake the Americans and the Russians is those ones stop their research drive in space technology for years. Something we are sure can't happen. China lags far behind the two powers in space technology and those don't stop developing making it impossible for China to overtake them. It is better China just develop at their own pace rather than get entangle with nations ahead of them and who do not stop developing.
. Note: In some areas.... Lemme make a clear cut example, it may please you to know that the Super eagles of Nigeria re better than the Spanish national team IN SOME AREAS...

Science/Technology / China To Build Power Station In The Moon by Gwekzy: 4:32pm On Dec 14, 2013
China on Saturday successfully carried out the world's first soft landing of a space probe on the moon in nearly four decades, the next stage in an ambitious space program that aims to eventually put a Chinese astronaut on the moon.

The unmanned Chang'e 3 lander, named after a mythical Chinese goddess of the moon, touched down on Earth's nearest neighbor following a 12-minute landing process.

The probe carried a six-wheeled moon rover called "Yutu," or "Jade Rabbit," the goddess' pet. After landing Saturday evening on a fairly flat, Earth-facing part of the moon, the rover was slated to separate from the Chang'e eight hours later and embark on a three-month scientific exploration.

China's space program is an enormous source of pride for the country, the third to carry out a lunar soft landing — which does not damage the craft and the equipment it carries — after the United States and the former Soviet Union. The last one was by the Soviet Union in 1976.

"It's still a significant technological challenge to land on another world," said Peter Bond, consultant editor for Jane's Space Systems and Industry. "Especially somewhere like the moon, which doesn't have an atmosphere so you can't use parachutes or anything like that. You have to use rocket motors for the descent and you have to make sure you go down at the right angle and the right rate of descent and you don't end up in a crater on top of a large rock."

State-run China Central Television showed a computer-generated image of the Chang'e 3 lander's path as it approached the surface of the moon, saying that during the 12-minute landing period it needed to have no contact with Earth. As it was just hundreds of meters (yards) away, the lander's camera broadcast images of the moon's surface.

The Chang'e 3's solar panels, which are used to absorb sunlight to generate power, opened soon after the landing. The Chang'e 3 will set up antennae that will transmit pictures back to Earth.

The Chang'e mission blasted off from southwest China on Dec. 2 on a Long March-3B carrier rocket.

China's military-backed space program has made methodical progress in a relatively short time, although it lags far behind the United States and Russia in technology and experience.

China sent its first astronaut into space in 2003, becoming the third nation after Russia and the United States to achieve manned space travel independently. In 2006, it sent its first probe to the moon. China plans to open a space station around 2020 and send an astronaut to the moon after that.

"They are taking their time with getting to know about how to fly humans into space, how to build space stations ... how to explore the solar system, especially the moon and Mars," Bond said. "They are making good strides, and I think over the next 10, 20 years they'll certainly be rivaling Russia and America in this area and maybe overtaking them in some areas.". Crime / Man Stabs His Gay Boss To Death For Attempted Rape In Lagos by Gwekzy: 3:48pm On Nov 27, 2013
A 22-year-old man, Eji Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for the alleged murder of a 39-year-old trader, Sylvanus Okoye. According to the police, the suspect stabbed the deceased to death at his home on Ezemegbu Drive, Okota in August.
The suspect, however, explained that he killed the deceased in self-defence. He alleged that on the day of the incident, Okoye had attempted to rape him.
Explaining the events that culminated in Okoye’s death, the suspect said he was a dancer and was lured to Lagos by a friend, Chukwudi, under the guise of doing music business only for the friend to introduce him to homosexuality.
He said he had gone to report the matter to his friend’s boss but his friend’s boss molested him twice and he reported the matter at the FESTAC Police Division. He said the matter was transferred to the Zone 2 Police Command and the case was turned against him after which he spent two weeks in detention.
He said he had approached Okoye, who he considered an Igbo leader in the state, to help him with money to return to Anambra State when Okoye also attempted to rape him.
He said, “I went along with a relative to report the matter to Okoye and he gave my friend and I N5,000 and shirts. He told us not to worry, so we slept over at his house. At midnight, however, Okoye came to my room and attempted to made love with me but I refused him.
“My relative later told me that Okoye had sex with him in the parlour that same night. We left in the morning and returned to Anambra State. From there, I went to Abuja where I remained for four months. However, one day, Okoye called me that he had a business deal and invited me to come to Lagos.
“I told Okoye that I would not engage in any act of homosexuality and he agreed.”
The suspect said when he returned to Lagos, the deceased said he wanted to open a bar in the area and wanted him to manage the business. He said he passed the night at the deceased’s home, but at midnight, the deceased crept into his room and attempted to make love to him.
He said, “In the evening, Okoye served me with bread, butter and tea in my room. Around 3.30am, he crept into my room and wanted to sleep with me, but I refused him.
“Okoye was a big man so he attempted to overpower me, but I picked up the bread knife that was still left in the room and stabbed him in the neck, but he did not die.
“I picked up a flexible iron and bound it round his neck and locked him inside the room.
“When it was 6am, I stepped out of the house and gave the key to one woman beside the gate and fled.”
The security guard and the woman whom the suspect handed the key to were arrested by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba and after three months, detectives were able to locate the suspect in Anambra State.
A police detective said, “The security guard told us that he could identify the suspect if he saw him.
“In the course of investigation, we obtained call logs from Okoye’s phone and we learnt that the suspect had used Okoye’s phone to call his girlfriend in Anambra State shortly after killing Okoye. We travelled to Anambra State and we were able to locate the suspect who was even wearing the deceased’s clothes.”
The suspect, however, insisted that he was not a killer but a victim of circumstance.
He said, “My father and my brother are dead. I am the only child of my mother. Who will take care of her if I am sent to prison? I am not a homosexual but I was used. I tried for several months to impregnate my girlfriend but was not successful. I feel they have stolen my virtues.”
Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, confirmed Emmanuel’s arrest, adding that the police were still working to establish it the the victim was a homosexual or not as alleged by the suspect. Source. http:///rLDzqnJ2KA
