This link is for those that has been learning German but still don't understand the pronunciation rules.

The pronunciation is computerized like duolingo but far better. And this is how it works, when you click on the link, you will see a space beside English vs German. Write the English word in the space and click search icon which is just below the space bar.

Scroll down a little bit to see the result

There is a speaker symbol beside the space bar.. Click on it to know how it is being pronounced. Try and listen for many times and practice afterwards. Another advantage of using this link is that you will see how each word are used in a sentence

Here is the link

This is a brief discussion about my favorite applications to give an idea of my thoughts on duolingo.

Language learning application : DW (Deutsche Welle)

This is by far the best learning application for German language. The well structured German language online course is managed by DW. The application contains many useful resources to learn German and also, placement test to know your German level.

#
Language learning application : BUSUU

This is one of my favorite language learning applications. It is better than duolingo when it comes to listening skills, when it comes to writing, and when it comes to reading. It also provides more opportunities for engagement with others. The vocabularly is presented in a way that context learning is much easier.

So, in this way, i will say busuu, DW and duolingo can sometimes be a nice compliment.

Another good application is DEUTSCHTRAINER A1-APP

The app combines listening, reading and writing and helps you practice basic vocabulary. It is available for free for iOS and Android.

Here are some websites where you can learn German

DW

Nancy thuleen

Germanpod101

BBC german

Collection of useful learning materials in one place

Learn German easily

It is very important to practice speaking if you learn on your own. Even if you don't have enough time, have a short practice periods throughout the week. As my mentor always say wiederholung. ist. der. Schlüsselfaktor. im. Lernprozess. which means repetition is the key factor in learning process.

If you are a beginner (Anfänger) in German language and you are using duolingo, i would advise you to stop because because the audio on duolingo is horrible and computer generated. Duolingo uses one voice, and it is almost impossible to understand as it is computer generated. In learning a language, you really need multiple voices or you're not going to develop language listening skills of any use.

The apps do simplification of complex things like verb conjugation in ways that feel wrong. It treats he/she/you (plural)/you (singular)/I/they as the same in cases like the one with chose the right word. It forces you to chose three options and you have to remember what verb tense you're in.

In essence, out of the 4 major components of a language, duolingo teaches you only one and a half. It provides no context to your life and does not provide you with a real usable vocabularly. It is not great. Some pronunciation in duolingo are even wrong like Orange for example

That said, dolingo can be great when used in conjunction with other applications (busuu and mondly) immersion, language learning classes (like germanpod101) and other language learning approaches.

Hallo! Gute Idee! Könnten Sie mit mir bitte auf Deutsch sprechen und schreiben? Ich würde es gerne üben. Du kannst meine Email Partner auf Deutsch werden.

Ich schreibe bald B1 um December aber Ich finde hören schwer. Ich habe Angst! Könnten Sie mir bitte helfen?

Danke.
Chef, es. ist. verboten. Deutsch. auf. Nairaland. zu. schreiben. smiley

To your request, sorry but i won't be able to help because of the following reasons

1) I'm not a German native

2) I'm still in the university studying a tough course and i would be very busy in few days time because we have resumed already.
Moreover, i haven't practiced German for some weeks now, all because of school

3) I don't even know my German level sef. I make mistakes alot. There was a time when i wrote gut. das. zu. hören to ottersberger. He corrected me by saying es freut. mich. das. zu. hören.

If you really want to improve your listening skill, it's better you get yourself a German native. That is the best way to improve.

We have some German native on this platform. The likes of Janettee, fieryy, Lovelygurl, DeutschJunge, mamajj17, Berliner, Schwartz, Germandude, Willy2000, pompido, dolpaz, ottersberger, honourableseyi, Obiwannn, Eke40seven, Cindino20, benycent and dobeespen should be able to help.

*The emboldened monikers are the German natives while the rest are bosses in German language cool

Another platform to get German native is speaky. Search it on Play Store or Apple Store depending on the phone you are using.

I hope you find it helpful.

Hello, those who learnt German language online, can you please give a clue on how you started....thanks
Download Busuu, Memrise, Mondly, Babbel, German vocabulary, German grammar task, and DW application (you will find these applications on Google Play Store or Apple Store)

Also, search for learn German with Jenny, learn German with Anja and learn German in 3 minutes episodes on youtube.

Follow these handles

@dw_learngerman
@jabbagerman
@_learn_german
@einfachDeutsch

And these handles on instagram

@hallo_fraufuchs - Pronunciation and grammar from Mrs Fuchs

@lernen_sie_deutsch - Nouns/phrases

@langgoals_deutsch - for German jokes with translation

@deutschlernenmitjolca - Learning tips, phrases and word of the day from Jolca, a Spanish living in Germany

@dw_deutschlernen - Grammar/Nouns

@einfachdeutsch - Word of the day and other useful things to learn

@lernedeutsch - Daily German words from a German native

@deutschmaster - useful phrases

@deutsch_mit_olga - Learn German with Olga, a Russian living in Germany

@learngerman_de

@english_deutsch_lernen - Useful phrases

@deutsch_lernen7 - phrases and words

To improve your Deutsche through listening by downloading a music app that packs unbelievable features, thanks to Klexycole who discovered the application.

*How to operate the application is as follows

The name is BOOM (not boomplay please) and it's available on Playstore. The app comes with insane music equalizer, as well as complete 3D surround sound to help improve your audio output (headsets bring best result).

Another highlight of this audio app is the Online Radio feature. You can literally listen to radio stations from major countries of the World, with which Germany isn't an exception.

Just browse the German radio stations and listen away! You can choose the category you want, from sport to fashion, to entertainment and education, just to mention!

While some people have been learning through this route, some others don't know about it at all. So, it's a very good way to learn the language. You get familiar with the tonality, speech, e.t.c.
Lastly, practice using Goethe Zertifikat deutsch üben once you have improved in German language. The drop box link contains übungen for A1 down to C2 level in each aspect.. Talk of Wortschatz, Lesen, Schreiben, Grammatik und Tipps, you will find it there.

You can also visit my thread for introduction, here is the thread

Thanks for the reply, i have checked the Anabin database and found out that my school wasn't there, I'm already taking a course at Noun and preparing for the exam next month, also I'm in A2 level of German, and also i want to go through studentkolleg and i just heard of something called Ausbildung.
As Sassy92 clearly pointed out, Ausbildung is like apprenticeship and it's not easy to get in developed countries because they are well paid, so their citizens rush into it. The chance of a non-permanent resident getting Ausbildung is slim

Also, you can't get an Ausbildung if your German level is not up to at least B1 and it depends on the kind of Ausbildung you are looking for.

Be careful of associations u surround with.

Never forget this pertinent question, rehearse it every morning

"What do I want"?

U will see hopeless men here too that all the want is just money to go and settle in Nigeria or white toto to Bleep.

I have found out that everybody in this Germany is just serious and on a mission, just watch out that u do not be surrounded with folks of dissimilar goals.

Someone I met told me he just needs money to go home and enter Nigeria politics and another is after money to go and settle in Nigeria and do business.

They have goals and are serious about it, so it reflects in their philosophy of staying in Germany.

But there are people u will get here, mehn ur heart and soul will always be on fire.

The 10 years allowed for studies is okay to settle u, if u know what u want. Time keeps ticking and waits for no one.

Get people like Immafrank etc around u here, u know God really love and blesses u. U won't understand. Information is power anywhere even in Germany, so I can decide to shelve a valuable info and in my small mind, I am powerful, is true but partly cos.......
So when u see someone that gives u info of everything he knows and would bless u at no cost, u understand that person has a greater spirit and

I no want write epistle abeg

Happy weekend guys
