That an Elder should show you some respect first is a disrespect on it own.
I will only address this as the rest of ur points are irrelevant since I nevwr said anything relating to them but this..

So lets start with this.. an elder shouldn't respect the younger once right? Whats your orientation about respect?

I do say yoruba is d most hypocritical tribe we have. Not only are dey obsessed with greeting, dey are also obsessed with respect & proverbs. Dey use proverbs 2 justify nonsese. Yoruba will say u shud use "e" 4 elders, dat it is a sign of respect, so if I say "e ponu" is dat a sign of respect 2? Dey will say "agbalagba o kii n paro" but we all know dat it is dese "agalagba's" dat have spoilt dis natn with deir lies.
am yoruba but I have to be sincere to say this is the truth.. the elders (not all) are just too hypocritical..

Funny enough when they are angry, you will see the way they act to the other once that are older than them and you will be wondering if its not the same person that demanded respect from u

When you are not in the mood, I would tell you "take it easy, what are you thinking about that you see me walking pass and you can't greet"?
Your greetings in reality won't quench my hunger or thirst. But the reality of it all, is that Peace be unto you. Peace is what we all hunger for. And you/we have never experienced peace in atleast 4000 years. First you must know what peace really is before you can appreciate greetings.
You are not being pragmatic at all... if you are in a bad mood, you are usually not in the mood to talk at all.. this is normal, stop talking theory

You don't understand what that place in the Bible means, The person that wrote that in the bible must have shown a lot of regards and respect to His/Her Elder.

Many atimes, I mess up and i am disciplined for it, it must have pained me, but in the end it is for my own good. For Elders to have your definition of respect for a younger person has so much deep meaning even science to it, only if you have shown your elders respect without expecting a respect back, they would have told you.
The best bribe to an Elder is respecting them, and it starts from "greetings, not just with your mouth but also with your deeds.

Age doesn't determine knowledge or character, But Wisdom is determined by Age. never miss/mix wisdom with knowledge. Wisdom is earned through experiences.

Do you know that the condition of the Black society stems from the disregards and disrespect of the Elders? Like i said, if you are wise enough, you would be able to understand.
before I continue and address ur relevant points

Show me where I said you shouldn't respect your elder..

Seems comprehension is a proble here

Its not stupidity...

The elders are taking advantage of the laws of the land...

Everyone has a choice.. If the elder doesn't understand tell him to go and .....

family wey u never marry into already telling u to call ur fiances younger ones anty and brother cos u wan marry d brother...funny Yoruba pple
well that one is rare among us.. its the one that is common I am addressing, which is the older oncw disrespecting the younger once and not wanting the younger once to do the same.. this is very bad and self centered

The parent that provoke you to respect is a very nice one, Try it with God, if He won't teach you better life lesson.

You as a person may possess a lot of knowledge, but you can't match a person a second older than you in wisdom, it is all the universe was built.
We are just in a period of what i will call a recessive period, where the entire world is expriencing a recessive nature of life. We/You not wanting to greeting your/our Elder is a recessive trait or want our elders to reciprocate respect.
Before the recessive era, which has already ended, The oldest is the leader. A good and clear example is God, He is the oldest.

Elders are not to respect you, they are to lead and correct you. Anywhere it is where they have made mistakes, correct it and keep it a secret.
You have just showed the kind of mentality u have. Elders should not respect abi? And u think the younger person will wouldn't reciprocate rudeness? Because he isnt human abi?

Elders should provoke you? What are u sayin? Even the bible teaches they should not provoke childern too.. Read ephesians 6 or so

and where have I said u shouldnt greet an elder.. it seems u are replying another person and quoting me mistakenly. My point has been that respect is reciprocal.. No culture can take that fact away.. You respect me, I do.. You disrespect me, I do..

And no.. age doesnt always determine maturity and experience. This has even been proven scientifically. So make valid points dude

Like I said, It is all written in the face. Like when anybody steps on my foot, my first reaction is to look at their face, and to you amazement, you would findout that 99% don't even realize that they had stepped on another's foot. Greetings/reply to is the same.
I am from a people where when you are thinking too much or deeply, they will call out your attention, that is when you would findout that people really do care.
when am not in the mood.. leave me, I will greet u some other time

Which is why it was good to call out her attention. If a person is too deep in thought, It is a good way to ask "heeeey, are you still there".
I have greeted a lot of people that didn't answer/reply, in all cases, the reply is written on the facial expression. Some may even greet or reply without even greeting you atall.
u dont have to think the person is rude for not greeting u then.. And sometimes u are just not in the mood to start greeting everyone u see on the street.. be realistic my brother.

Yes, it is reciprocal, you got that not from your culture. There is not relationship between greetings and respect. An elder can never be rude to you if you are not rude in the first place (like i said, you may greet with all your loud voice, and yet not greeting atall, the elder understands this).
In place like Africa, respect can save you a lot where a billion dollar won't.
what are u saying... anyone ca be rude to anyone.. elders in yoruba land mostly disrespect the youngers and are in a position to say u cant do anything. If u caution their actions , they say u are disrespecting again.

Sorry please read and comprehend my post again. I never said u shouldn't respect elders, I said respect is reciprocal. Elders should respect the younger once.

Even the bible teaches that parents should also respect their children and not provoke them to wrath but yoruba parents and elders do provoke younger once all because they are elders.. This is something that has to be done away with in our culture. And if u support this, wake up!! This is 21st century and people are not stiupid like b4

It is because you don't know what an elder means.
oga forget elder. . Respect is reciprocal. We are all human beings and have emotions, you cant be rude to me because you are older than me and expect me to be happy.. if that is what our culture teaches, then ignore it, at least that aspect of the culture

You don't know what greeting means. It means good luck or Peace. I love to greet everybody elder to me even if it s just a year older. I expect the same from the younger. ki elegbe mo egbe. It simply mean peace be unto you. GREET!

Or you want make person carry simple matter go meet the wiseone after which Jesus self will look the other way asking you "why you self no fit greet your elder"?
didn't u read her post? She said she probably was thinking about something else... sometimes u just dony observe ur environment to the extent of greeting every single person u meet... sometimes u are just not even in the mood to do so

for example

In yoruba culture, you cannot be rude to an elder but an elder can be rude to you... infact when u question an elder for being rude, dey tell u that you are being rude for questioning again undecided

hehe, will soon join the party. Meanwhile, What is "melee kills" and how is it done? Again, when I tried changing name, it returns back to ma google name anytime it reloads, you know why this is so?
melee kill is butchering someone with knife which is possible when u are very close to him, the knife icon appears.

I had to change my name from google plus to haibe too for it to be permanent
