yesloaded: its good to come out plain sir, 000webhost is not an ideal web host. They do give free webhosting of some mb but not 1500mb as you claim. Also, they do shut peoples website down at anytime without prior notice and you will be unable to get your website back no matter how hard you try. You can advertise the webhost without giving half truth to the public. Good morning Assuming they shut the website down, Is it possible that I move my website to another hosting provider? |

Pharmtj: bros just try read small na from page 1 Biko.... lol Sorry but you guys always suggesting that others read from page 1 for every question, I think its not fair and very ridiculous. There are over 400 pages and sometimes the cost of going through 400 pages may be more than the benefit one may get. If I were you, I will rather give a brief answer or not reply at all, it's not nice to simply say read from page 1 (I know already that I can get the information on the thread if i start from the scratch), we aren't talking of 10 pages here, some people are extremely busy and may only need a brief info. In normal standard forums where pages are excessively many, the moderator will typically copy vital information to recent pages, there is a reason for this, or the forum itself have a search feature on threads. I am not suggesting this should be done, however I am saying it's not as easy as you think to read 400 pages, so spare people the "read from page 1 talk".. I didn't have to read from page 1 to understand the little I know now, I have simply just observed. It's a different thing if the information can be found in the last few pages but not when its hundreds of pages behind. |

Sanchez01: I think the problem here is that you assume too much. However, what I will tell you is that there are degrees of employment letters, depending on the reputation of the company you work for.
In my own case, it was five pages;
1. The letter itself and terms of contract (3 Pages)
2. Net breakdown (2 Pages)
Not every company would do that but then, it does not mean that it is not detailed or broken down for some folks. So for the lady in question, you think the reputation of her company in a plaza is very high? That's why you are assuming her employment letter should show the Net pay? |
Career › Re: I Thought I Have Gotten A Job, Cruel Boss by haibe(m): 9:55am On Mar 10, 2018 |
BecaciaBarbie: Yes right, on a salary of 40k too? her boss just exploited her and that's the basic truth! You only got to know it is 40k after she made the comment later, you concluded it couldn't be 5k paye without even initially knowing her gross, so free the guy you are quoting, he is also thinking like you, he has probably not read up to the point the lady said the gross is 40k. The most important point is that a paye is 5k is very normal and thats what he was trying to address. |
Career › Re: I Thought I Have Gotten A Job, Cruel Boss by haibe(m): 9:51am On Mar 10, 2018 |
Sanchez01: Then permit me to say you need to start questioning your organisation. Your company or the organisation you work for should be able to provide a detailed breakdown of your NET which involves a whole lot. If it only captures gross then serious questions need to be asked. So they should show you a computation of Net pay in an emoloyment letter? Bro i repeat, many companies show the breakdown of your gross only, of course they tell you there will be a pension contributions (which is mandatory at 8%), even if they didn't tell you, its common sense to know about pension. |

Who will earn 3 million and not be able to pay 400k for rent. It is not by force to quote people especially when you don't have any sensible thing to type Okay after all your blabbing, i meant 3 million Annually obviously, use your head, so why can't someone earning 3m annually rent an apartment of 400k. Sagay212: The fact that he says he cannot afford 400k per annum for a house doesn't mean he doesn't earn well or have the money. You need to spend your money with sense. You cannot be earning 250k per month and want to rent a house of 400k . It doesnt make any sense. So someone earning 3 million annually cannot pay rent of 400k in peace? Are you a joker? You must be living in Akure.. Even in Ikorodu, a 3 bedroom in a good location is around 400k and above, not to talk about in other locations.. 400k is small money in lagos, the earlier you know, the better. Its obvious you are not working by the way |

GEKE: it's 40K Based on my computation and assuming no pension deduction, ur paye should be 2576 monthly, so you need to investigate further why he is deducting 5k, could it be that he is remitting pension or NHF for you? These are the things you need to find out before concluding that he is cheating you. |

mrphysics: Your gross annual income is 480k. And N200, 000 + 20% of N480,000 = N296,000
N480, 000 - N296, 000 = N184, 000 This is less than N300k, so your PAYE is 1% of your annual income which is 4800. Then your monthly PAYE is N400.
Cc. Haibe
Modified PAYE is paid monthly so it is wrong for him to pay your yearly PAYE even when you may not be with his firm throughout the year. Only Direct Assessment Tax is paid on annual basis Show me that section of PITA that restricts the tax payable where her CRA is less than 300k |

mrphysics: I just saw where you talked about Pension, NHF and NHIS, those are tax exempts that will be removed from her consolidated taxable income (after the 200000 + 20% of her salary is removed) before imposing the rate.
If you remove those tax exempts, it becomes so clear that she was cheated. She pays for NHF, pension without having a pension account? NHf account? And TIN? Most one man businesses only deduct the mandatory pension of 8%, thats why i said it is unlikely she made those other contributions. |

mrphysics: Lirs.gov.ng
Kids.gov.ng
The two sites can help you.
Yes, I accept that I assumed her gross pay, but I am not sure she earns more than 100k. My salary is above 100k but my monthly PAYE is little above 5k.
So why would her own be 5k.
All those lagos jobs with salaries wavering around 30-35k is what the monthly PAYE is 5k. C'mon bro, we are scientists and you mustn't wait for all datas to make a usable assumptions. Can u give the exact figure of your salary? My gross is 150 and i pay about 11k after pension deduction, let's reconcile our difference pls.. whats ur gross exactly |

mrphysics: I thought you said you know about the PIT, now do you know the Personal income tax Act? it's governed by law not subjective.
Since her employer knows about tax, then he should do well to calculate it well too.
From your calculations, Her taxable income is less than N300k and as such you can't subject it to the rate.
The act says that in such case, the PAYE is 1% of her gross annual income. Then for the month is dividing it by 12 How did you arrive at the 500k? Assumption i guess. Canyou refer me to the section of the Act? I hope you aren't confusing this with minimum tax of 1% of gross pay where the paye is less that 1% |
Career › Re: I Thought I Have Gotten A Job, Cruel Boss by haibe(m): 7:37pm On Mar 09, 2018 |
mrphysics: I thought you said you know about PAYE, I don't know you are just ignorant of it. Now read up the calculation of PAYE.
If N200,000 + 20% of her annual income is less than N300k, it is considered as low pay, hence, you take 1% of her annual gross income as her annual PAYE.
But if the remainder as calculated above is above 300k
Then her PAYE is 7% of the first 300k, 11% of the next 300k.
Not everyone you meet on nairaland is jobless You seem not to be understanding the point. You have been making hypothetical figures and assuming, you need to know what her gross is before you can calculate!! Again you will make a bad consultant, you are already assuming paye figures because you think her salary is low (by your wild assumption). Do we tax based on high and low? Or the gross Emolument? C'mom dude |
Career › Re: I Thought I Have Gotten A Job, Cruel Boss by haibe(m): 7:29pm On Mar 09, 2018 |
mrphysics: If her tax PAYE is 5k, it means that her annual income is N500000.
This implies that when we remove N200000 + 20% of N500000 =N300000. Then the balance is N200000 and you can't subject it to normal PAYE rate. You can't work from the Paye to the gross because we don't know the allowable deductions available to her, you can only work from the paye to gross if you know the effective tax rate already. By the way, for a 500k gross, her CRA is 100k + 200k meaning there's a chargeable income of 200k. Again no assumptions, we need to know her gross first, you guys cannot be good consultants with the way you make wild assumptions. |

mrphysics: We are talking about PAYE, please read about it before you comment You said since her salary is low.. bla bla.. You dont know her salary!! paye is calculated on specific amounts like he has rightly said, not high and lows which is very subjective |
Career › Re: I Thought I Have Gotten A Job, Cruel Boss by haibe(m): 7:17pm On Mar 09, 2018 |
mrphysics: Your Theory works for government employees. Buy let's assume it is true, let me enlighten you on how PAYE is calculated.
N200000 and 20% of her total annual salary is deducted from the her total annual salary to give what is called consolidated taxable income.
It is from there that 7% of the CTI is taken for the first N300000 of the CTI.
since her pay is low, if we remove the Consolidated Relief Allowance given by government which is N200k + 20% of her annual income. Then nothing remains.
Which in this case, her PAYE is 1% of her annual income. Oga I can lecture you on the personal income tax act as a whole sef. My problem with you guys is that you don't even know her Gross Pay and you are commenting based on assumptions. What theory works for govt only? How do you guys jump into conclusion |

mrphysics: Hope you are not kidding. Before salary is negotiated, tax is removed. You can't tell me that my salary is 10k tax inclusive.
PAYE is always removed before telling employer their salary I dont know about you but what i have on my employment letter (and so many other people i know) is Gross Emolument, i have never seen Net pay on Employment contract before, it will typically read that the pay is subject to all applicable taxes. |
