Thanks bro, I quite agree with you. If the proposal scale through, it will definitely hurt the Indians; who has totally take advantage of the loopholes in H1B visa.

I can't imagine 120k applications as against 400 from Nigerians, that in ratio 1:300!. Even in the war front, isn't it going to be an uphill task for 1 soldier to face over 300 well trained combatant soldiers? Lol. But , with this reform like you rightly said,it will open up opportunities for under represented countries like Nigeria.

No wonder the route of h1b to green cards(eb2/eb3) seems fast becoming impossible for Indians. It will take roughly 15 to 20 yrs for them to get GC!, because of many backlogs of applicants.

I think this one area Nigerians would have exploit to immigrate, but lack of awareness and that of local I.T firms like infosys, Tata et al, in India has contributed to low applications from our end.

I remembered, @Bossman (a nairalander and Chicagoan geek lol) once said , he was shocked when he see one Nigerian in their office under H1B visa, something very rare. And guess what, it was one those Indian I.T firm that filed for him.

I believe, with these lots informatioms come from brothers like Bishoop007 et al, in shortest possible time, people can be well armed and make better informed decisions regarding all these issues.
good that is if the Democrats are not opposing it

From my little understanding, the 'battle' is against a certain group that import WAEC certificate equivalent holders, call them skilled workers, give them a little 'training' and they are suddenly termed professionals in that field.

They are the ones that have issues with USCIS, those getting advanced degrees (not imported WAEC as my guy would call it grin) from American institutions of higher learning have little to worry about.
wait so a person with a degree from Nigeria can't apply for h1b and get accepted

Yes o. You need to use your head. This na yankee. Maybe he sells drugs part time if he's not working. Maybe, he is a rapist. I don't know. I don't plan on finding out.

Some of the people i work with are drug addicts. Cocaine sniffing motherfuckers. If you see them working, you wonder where the energy comes from. Tell some of them to roll their sleeves, you see signs they are using drugs.
I don't get too close to people. I remain friend but maintain my distance. I no want trouble.

I have been using the same approach to keep ladies at bay. Like i say, even if you don't find a woman trouble, woman will find your trouble. And it doesn't always End well. As a black man, you are always guilty before proved innocent. What all these white women need to do is just cry and call 911 (state i live, na so so white people everywhere), you don enter am. Doesn't matter if na she offend you.
i swear ur head correct. person watch the kind person e dey move with

One of the major culture shocks I've experienced here is the drug addiction "culture". Relative to the sheer mass of the USA, my sample size is quite small. But I must say, substance addiction is a MAJOR issue here. I've been working (and conversing) with different persons at my jobs for like 6 months (or thereabouts). I've only come across two people who don't do drugs. One of them was a pre-med student at UIC, the other was pregnant and she has just enough sense to stay off pills for the duration of her pregnancy, she picked up where she left off as soon as she gave birth though. I once worked with one lady who admitted to popping pills and getting high every single day, "you know that's addiction, right?" I asked, her reply shocked me. She said "I'm here for a good time, not a long time." shocked

Na there I realize say my IUO and Uniport boys dey learn work grin

Most times, at my burger king job, it looks like I'm the odd one out simply because I dont do drugs. I don't care though, I no come USA to pop pills.
hmm i no know why these akatas and oyinbos no get sense

UKmigrant:
Its my last weekend in naija before my exit. Some of my "yeye" friends have heard that I am leaving and are putting presure on me to take them out tonight for a farewell party. I wonder how they think I have money to blow with all these expenses ahead of me. I have already notified most of them that they should get ready to pick the bills in case we hang out.

Washed my old travel bags just this morning. I realised that cockroaches have been having a swell time in them, its game over today for the little "bagas". I need to get a weighing scale in a few days before my trip so I can organise my bags from home to avoid incurring excess luggage costs as I intend to travel with as much foodstuff as possible. These things I heard are expensive in the UK.

I am also meeting with some people today who want to buy some of my things, I hope I get a good deal.

Its breakfast time for me now, please join me!
nice one prepare wella ooo

Yeah, case is closed sis. I'm just exploring ways of reopening it. I have to write to the congresswoman, but I can't do that. A legal citizen has to do that for me, I'm now scared because people here says it takes time. Like 12 years? True? Cos since it's their fault and not mine?
dont worry u still have a chance you are there already other options will surely come in
