Even criminals get a fair hearing in court.

So, you are no better than a despot. If you were president, you will do worse than Buhari. In fact, anyone who has a contrary opinion to yours, will be killed.

That is another problem. If you don't read, why then do you bother that Buhari does not care about you?

You think Buhari has more responsibility than you simply because he is president?

You think South Korea is where it is today simply because of good leadership alone?

No, the citizens have responsibilities too.

You should already know by now that curses don't work.

Even the ones made by a supposed man of God (Oyedepo) did not work on Boko Haram.

I am not against the protest. In fact, all of my posts since yesterday have been centred on supporting the protest.

But the fact is our problems are beyond leadership.

You can't tell me that all the leaders we have had since 1999 are all bad.

Something is definitely wrong with our political structure, as well.

In a previous post, I wrote that we could return to regionalization which we practiced successfully in the 1960s.

The United States is a federal state, yet it practises something similar to regionalism.

We can even create our own system of government.

Before the white man came to colonize us, the Yorubas already had a form of government that was centred on checks and balances. The Igbos already had something similar to direct democracy.

Why can't we all sit down, and have this conversation?

Only a fool does the same thing again and again, and expects a different result each time.

We can't continue to decieve ourselves.

Anger is never going to solve this issue either.

Just as disbanding SARS will not end police brutality, removing Buhari will not end military brutality.

That is my point.

We need a holistic approach to solving our problems.

We have leadership problems. No one can dispute that. But we also have structural problems

If you address leadership problems, nothing will change until you address structural problems too.

Changing a leader will not automatically make everything alright.

Even under a supposedly democratic leader (Goodluck Jonathan), a crowd was shot at in 2013.

Since our return to democracy, soldiers and policemen have carried out being like they were under military rule. Don't forget that the Odi massacre happened under a civilian government.

This is beyond Buhari.

This is not the first time soldiers will shoot into a crowd.

It has always happened, irrespective of who the president is.

I think our problems are just too many.

I don't even know if breaking up the country will solve the problem.

But I think we need to either return to regionalization or institute fiscal federalism, with power shared equally between central and component units.
