@ op its a pity you have to go through all this. like you and me , millions of Nigerians were happy when they first heard paypal was coming to Nigeria which gives us the opportunity to shop directly from ebay and other online stores that use paypal as a checkout payment option only, but like every other online stores (aliexpress,ebay etc) there will always be dubious sellers lurking in the corners to scam innocent victims.
within these few weeks of paypal opening in nigeria, i have made purchases of gadgets worth about $800 dollars and i have learnt one or two things which i think nigeria shoppers should follow:
1. avoid bidding for items on ebay especially unknown sellers with little or no feedback. look for sellers with the gold/yellow ribbon
logo with "top rated seller"' clearly written on it
2. as much as possible try making purchases from big retailers that have stores on ebay eg. newegg.com have store with ebay
also look for stores with high rates of purcheses from buyers e.g take a look at this link

the seller is blutek with a gold/yellow top rated seller ribbon and as at this moment of posting this they have sold 1,888 brand new nexus 5 32GB option. i purchaed one two weeks ago when they did a promo and it retailed at $384.99

so i hope we can all learn from the above few tips

I'd rather install Windows Xp service pack 3 than that Windows 8.

ehh. . i currently run windows 8 pro on my rig and i don't have any problems with installing or playing games on it so far

chidi2pus: seen your thread before and i'll say, it was one of the main motivations that factored my move from console to the pc gaming sphere.

I don't live in lagos so using a third party buyer who resides in lagos is gonna increase by budget by about 16%.
main reason i'm giving amazon a 24 hour duration to fix my account is GTB has already forwarded my billing statement to amazon via FAX.it could be resolved within the next 24 hours.ordering the parts from another website could lead to double orders

will be patient for one more day. btw,i look forward to posting pics of the rig when it's built

besides i wish you stay in lagos i could make use of your battlefield 4 and call of duty ghost. i have limited bandwidth on my swift network to pull those heavy files

chidi2pus: well my account was put on hold today on amazon as regards credit card issues so i'll be buying the parts from microcenter which gives bundles and disounts.

If amazon doesn't verify my account in the next 24 hours i will be forced to purchase parts from microcenter which is $250 cheaper.

Entire pc build from amazon is $1130 though but it should satisfy my thirst for the next few years.


between can i get a good desktop case in nigeria?

truth be told their internet speed is decent compared to others. two weeks ago I downloaded batman origins which is about 16.5GB in less than 2 hours

I hopped into the swift 4G lte bandwagon yesterday. Chose the normadic multi-user hub. I must confess that the speed was quite impressive yesterday night.

seannopo: You are still in the testing stage, that's why you are getting such high speed. LTE provisions maximum of 100mb/s/site so if you have 100 people connected to the same site, you will have 1mb/s each. But I know swift won't provision that much bandwidth per site.

For those hoping to do IPTV and gaming over limited connection, u need to think again. Bottom line is if we really want to appreciate internet in nigeria, we must revive nitel and deliver internet over copper cables like other countries do. I know mtn and glo once deployed copper cables in some cities but I don't know what happened to them. I guess they prefer we pay high fees for the data dongles.
