Politics › Igbo Vision In Apc Holds Press Conference/general Meeting. by Handsomecole(op): 7:26pm On May 10, 2016
A movement, New Igbo Vision in APC Lagos has called on Igbo people in Lagos State
to re-establish the harmonious relationship that existed between them and their hosts
in Lagos.
Igbo vision in APC recently held its general meeting / press conference in Ikeja, Lagos. It was an opportunity for all Igbo's in Lagos state to unite and profer solutions to major issues.

The group regretted the acrimony which created the impression that Ndigbo were at
loggerheads with their hosts and other ethnic nationalities in Lagos.
Addressing a joint press conference in Lagos, the APC Publicity Secretary in Lagos
and Eze Ndigbo in Lagos, Messrs Joe Igbokwe and Eze Uche Dimgba respectively,
appealed to Igbos in Lagos “who are passionate towards promoting progressive
politics and the interest of Ndgbo to key in to this noble idea and join in rebuilding a
badly damaged bridge that have hitherto contributed immensely to the huge and
monumental successes Ndigbo have made in Lagos.”

IGBO VISION IN APC is a new movement that serves as the official umbrella social political group for all IGBO speaking residents of Lagos State. Pioneered by the APC Lagos State Publicity Secretary Engr Joe Igbokwe.

Politics › Happy Birthday To Dr.orji Uzor Kalu (MON) by Handsomecole(op):
Today is the Birthday of Dr.Orji Uzor Kalu the former Governor of Abia State, a great mentor of mine and coincidentally we share the same birth day April 21.

Here is a full biography of him.

ORJI UZOR KALU, MON

Young, ebullient and enterprising Orji Kalu is an enigma meaning different things to different people. His rise to national and international limelight was quite meteoric, making him one of the most visible businessmen, politician, philanthropist and humanist in Nigeria today.

He went through his academic career at Christ the King School, Aba for his primary education, Eziama High School, Aba; Government College, Umuahia for secondary education and tertiary education at University of Maiduguri; Abia State University, Uturu where he obtained B.Sc in Political Science, Harvard University Graduate Business School (AMP 153) Boston, USA IEA Certificate by USAID, honorary doctorate degrees in Law by the University of Port Harcourt, Abia State University, Uturu, and City State University, Los Angeles, USA.

A thoroughbred man in commerce, industry and administration, he became Chairman of Borno Water Board at a tender age of 25 years, where he initiated policies aimed at the provision of potable water for over 5 million Borno State indigenes in a guinea worm endemic area. He also served as the Chairman of Imo State Marketing and Supply Agency, where he evolved strategies for the formation of policies for the procurement and distribution of essential commodities. He created a record not yet equaled when he became the Chairman of Cooperative and Commerce Bank Limited in 1987 at the age of 27, making him the youngest person till date to assume such an elevated position in Nigeria.

Orji Kalu is widely traveled and has his fingers in many pies: banking, oil/telecommunication, import and export, trading, merchandising, insurance, publishing, real estate, shipping and manufacturing. Prior to holding public offices, he had built his business empire  – SLOK GROUP which comprises -Ojialex Furniture Company, Slok Nigeria Limited, Slok (UK)Limited, Adamawa Publishers Limited, Slok Vegetable Oil, Aba, Slok Paper Factory, Aba, Slok USA Inc., Slok Ghana, Togo, Cotonou, Guinea, South Africa, Liberia, Botswana, Slok Korea, Supreme Oil Limited, Slok Airlines, First International Bank Limited and International Insurance Company Limited ( Gambia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Liberia) and the Sun Publishing Limited (Nigeria and Liberia), Metro Energy (Guinea) Ltd, Daily Telegraph Publishing Company (Nigeria and Liberia) Ltd, Cecoon Oil and Gas (Nigeria) Ltd, Bende Export- Import  Ltd, amongst others.

In politics, he is a household name. He served as a member of the Federal House of Representatives from 1992 to 1993, and held two key positions of deputy chairman of the Finance and Internal Affairs Committees. He moved the famous Dual-Citizenship Rights Bill in the House. He was elected the Governor of the mineral-rich Abia State in 1999 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a political party he co-founded and financed with others. His achievements as a Governor astounded, even, his most vitriolic critics.

His administration built over 300 roads in both urban and rural areas, renovated 820 schools; planted 510 hectares of rubber, 2 million pineapple suckers, 5 million palm and cocoa seedlings; distributed over 10 million day old chicks to civil servants, schools churches and cooperative bodies to boost the protein intake of the people of the state. Added to these was the establishment of a free medical scheme that saw about 1.5 million persons treated; introduction of tuition-free education in both primary and secondary schools, distribution of free computer sets, textbooks, mathematical sets, and desks; and the regular payment of workers and teachers salaries. His poverty eradication package was about the best in Nigeria. Apart from creating employment opportunities for thousands of youths, he empowered many indigent persons through the distribution of interest-free loans, motorcycles, buses and cars. It is also on record that his government paid arrears of pension and gratuity owed retired workers by past administrations in the state since 1991. His achievements when he was at the helm of affairs in Abia State is endless which fetched him THE ACTION GOVERNOR OF NIGERIA within six months of assumption of office in 1999, by President Olusegun Obasanjo who was on a state visit to Abia State on February 26, 2000.

In 2007 Orji Kalu contested for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria under a new political party Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) founded by him and came third. The Party went ahead to win the Governorship position in two out of the five states (Abia and Imo) in the South-East region.

A sports enthusiast par excellence, he is the chairman Nigeria Judo Federation. He was able to change the fortunes of the once comatose Enyimba Football Club of Aba. The club won the Nigerian League back to back. Enyimba Football Club, for the first time in the more than 38 years history of the African CAF League Cup Competition, won the trophy for Nigeria. It repeated the feat in 2004 when it defeated Esperance F.C. of Tunisia to win the trophy the second time. It crowned this feat by winning the CAF Super Cup back to back in 2004/2005.

He has won many local and international awards, the prominent being the Industrialist of the Year by the Nigeria Chamber of Commerce, Trade and Industry; Humanitarian Award by the Humanitarian Club of the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka; Volunteer Award by the International Association of Volunteers; and the National Merit Award of the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), Youngest Bank Chairman Award by the famous Top Magazine when he became the chairman of Cooperative and Commerce Bank in 1987, a special award by the European union in Brussels, Belgium, Special Award by the Enugu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Fellow Bauchi Polytechnic, Fellowship Institute of Certified Management Accountants, and the prestigious Leon Sullivan Award by the World Bank, Washington. He is also a visitor of Miami Dave County in the State of Florida, United States of America.

He belongs to many professional and trade bodies which  includes, Nigerian Institute of Directors, Nigerian Association of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria, Nigeria-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nigeria Importers and Exporters Association, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce, Nigeria-Israel Association,  Spartansburg Chamber of Commerce S.C. USA and Association of Nigerian Products Exporters, Nigeria. He was a member of the National Sports Commission under the chairmanship of Chief S.B. Williams between 1989 and 1990, and Federal Government Commission on the Re-grading of Traditional Rulers.

Orji Kalu is a renowned philanthropist and humanist. This is evident with the scholarships his foundation has awarded to thousands of indigent students from all over the country. His milk of human kindness is unfathomable from the bridges of friendship he has built across cultures, races, and religions. His intimidating political profile, stupendous wealth, international connections, acceptability among his fellow politicians, transparent leadership, crusade against social injustice, corruption and inequity and above all, divine anointing are some of the qualities that stand him out. Orji Kalu has over 200 traditional titles to his honour and several books to his credit.

He is presently the Coordinator of Njiko Igbo, a non partisan political movement for the actualization of the dreams and aspirations of the people of south east extraction of Nigeria and G37 a group of like minds committed to the enthronement of good governance in Nigeria. Orji Kalu is a role model and mentor to the younger generation who see him as the face a new Nigeria.

Orji Kalu is happily married and blessed with children.

From I and my Team we wish you a prosperous and happy birthday.

Crime › Pipeline Vandals Dare FG Says "We Will Match You Gun For Guns, money For Money" by Handsomecole(op): 8:21am On Mar 12, 2016
Vandals boast, say ‘Govt cannot stop us, we’ll match them gun for gun,
money for money’
ON March 12, 20161:37 AM/IN Crime Guard, News /Comments

By Emma Nnadozie, Crime Editor

The success recorded by security agents recently, over the abduction of three
students at Ikorodu Lagos, has sent shock waves amongst different gangs
that hibernate the creeks around Arepo, Ikorodu and Mosimi areas . Security
sources hinted that while the most dreaded ones amongst the numerous
gangs that litter the creeks are nursing the wound inflicted by the easy rescue
of the students which they see as an affront that has punctured their
invisibility, others believe that the time was up for them to relocate based on
the tactic used by security agents in tracking the abductors.
Anger over non-payment of ransom
Worse still, the fact that the anticipated ransom did not eventually materialize
is said to have pained their ring leaders who normally benefit from the
proceeds, whether they participated in the operation or not. A source close to
the vandals intimated Crime Guard that the vandals doubted claims by the
police that they have rescued the girls and arrested some of their members
until the last minute after the suspects were paraded. This, according to the
sources, sparked off serious disagreement amongst the leaders as they kept
on blaming each other for the loop hole that made it possible for security
agents to demystify them. This is because, all along, they have been claiming
that their abode in the creeks is a no-go area and highly impenetrable by any
force.

But this time, a combined force of the police, DSS and the military were able to
penetrate into one of their main bases inside the creeks and that was how they
succeeded in arresting the first suspect, Arigidi, who then led them to expose
others leading to the release of the abducted girls.
So far, it was gathered that the arrest of some of their gang members caused
commotion in the creeks to the extent that there was fierce infighting amongst
their leaders. This has resulted in mass desertion of members from the creeks
especially, after the police stated unequivocally that they were still on the trail
of other fleeing members of the 12-man gang that kidnapped the students.
Crime Guard learnt that members of one of the most notorious gangs which
belongs to General Osy have, however, vowed never to move an inch from
their camp. They had earlier in a telephone call made to Vanguard denied
complicity in the abduction but the revelation from one of the arrested
suspects proved otherwise.
The call from the Creeks
At exactly 2.30pm, after Saturday Vanguard hit the streets with a bold, incisive
story captioned,’Abductors of Lagos Students behind past killings of security
operatives, bank robberies’, a call came from the creeks. The caller who
identified himself as ‘De Don’ spoke with cautious optimism but bared his
mind in unmistakable terms over the vexatious issue of vandalism and
militancy in Nigeria.
The conversation with our Crime Editor ran thus;
De Don: Mr. Emma, this story you wrote today saying that General Osy’s gang
are responsible for the kidnap of these Ikorodu girls, why did you do that?
Editor : Its from our investigation. Who are you?
De Don: I am De Don, a vandal. I am speaking from the creeks, inside the
forest.
Editor : What! Are you proud of being a vandal?
De Don: Yes, very proud. Why did you say we did it? We do not kidnap or
abduct people. What we do is to reap from our natural resources, that is our
oil. We belong to General Osy militant group. You people are fond of attributing
all sorts of criminality to us. This is wrong.
Editor : But you know that vandalism is a crime. Why do you people abduct, kill
and maim innocent citizens of this country including security agents?
De Don: What do you expect from us, after suffering to go to school, no job,
poverty everywhere? Yet, few individuals are benefiting from our natural
resources. This is the crux of the matter. We are poverty-stricken and
members of our families are suffering. Most of us here, inside the mosquitoe-
infested creeks are graduates that passed out with flying colours yet, nothing
to show for it. Every time, they say Niger Delta militants, are we not the g ooze
that lay the golden egg? Yet, we are dying.
Editor : Is that enough for you people to be killing Nigerians and terrorizing all
of us?
De Don: We don’t kill deliberately. But, if you block our way, we will not have
any option and nobody, including security agents, can stop us from engaging
in vandalism (shouts of yessooo, yessoo in the background). We do not kill
unless you confront us. All I am saying is that we did not kidnap those girls as
you wrote in your paper which we bought but we are vandals and we must
continue with our trade and government cannot stop us. We can match them
money for money, gun for gun. I am warning you to be careful with what you
write because we can easily fish you out.
Editor : That will not stop others from writing.
De Don: We know but we can use you to show example to others that tell lies
against us.
Editor : Let me advise you, you can see my e-mail in the publication. You are
at liberty to state your own side of the story and tell the world why you do
what you are doing. I assure you we will publish it.
De Don: Are you sure? ( good, that”s better from voices in the background).
Ok, we have agreed and we are going to do a comprehensive write-up and
send to your mail. Please, publish our story so that people will know why we
are doing what we are doing and the way forward. Expect the write-up on or
before Monday next week.
Editor : That’s better. Please include your photographs.
De Don: Which photograph? Save this my number as De Don of Vandals in
Nigeria. If you like, give it to security agents, they cannot do anything. They
know where we are in the creeks but they cannot come there. Till then. (call
ends)
