Kalu calls for healthy relationship between executive, legislature — 14th July 2016 EMINENT businessman and former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has called on members of the National Assembly to support the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, noting that a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government was in the interest of Nigerians. According to the former governor, members of the red chambers should reconcile their internal differences amicably in order to focus on their legislative duties , adding that name-calling among members was dangerous for Nigeria’s democracy. Kalu, who is on a business trip to Belgium, made these remarks yesterday while addressing some members of the Belgian-Nigeria Business Association (BNBA) led by Morris Leon on the state of the Nigerian nation at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Brussels. He said, “Nigeria is gradually regaining the confidence of the international community as President Buhari’s efforts in fighting corruption and terrorism are yielding positive results. Within a year in office, Mr. President has through the armed forces, curbed the activities of the dreaded Boko Haram sect and normalcy has now returned to the North East and other parts of the Northern Nigeria. President Buhari has also visited many developed countries to facilitate and strengthen business relationships with Nigeria. “The investment destination in Africa is Nigeria. The country is blessed with untapped resources, including a vast market owing to population of approximately 200 million people. I make bold to say that any investor that has not invested in Nigeria will regret in the nearest future. There are opportunities in agriculture, solid minerals, tourism and services, among others. Currently, the Nigerian government is supporting initiatives aimed at diversifying the economy as against depending on oil”. On the leadership crisis rocking the Nigerian Senate, Kalu noted that it was important for the Senators to settle their internal differences amicably and not lose focus of their legislative duties for which they were elected. According to him, the purpose of the National Assembly is to make laws that would benefit the citizenry, pointing out that members of the red chambers have spent too much time on internal wrangling. “It is unfortunate that considering the current financial and other challenges facing Nigeria, some members are clamoring for immunity and life pension for principal officers”, he said. On the issue of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Kalu called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, adding that the President should meet and dialogue with stakeholders in South East Nigeria towards rebuilding the region. The former governor used the opportunity to call on President Buhari to set up an independent economic management team comprising of reputable business people in various sectors of the Nigerian economy to advise government on practical strategies and policies to drive the nation’s economy. #HopeAlive Follow@OUKCrew

The recent viral pictures of David Cameron personally carrying his belongings out of his apartment has got people asking if we can have such leaders in Nigeria well Just like David Cameron Orji Uzor Kalu a former Governor and forbes rated billionaire business man was also helping himself to get a chair for not just himself only but for other around at an event. It only shows that we still have leaders who are humble and down to earth. Humility cannot be bought it's inborn. #KeepTheHopeAlive Follow @OUKCrew

Well you are not the Ist neither will you be the last person to experience heartbreak. I had similar experience too when as a student I had to abandon lectures and moved to Lagos to husstle so I could pay my schl fees while school was on session when I came back to write exams my GF told me was no longer interested even though we do talk on phone and I do send her money. I was hurt but I moved on. From my experience two things helped me . 1: Activities : Try involve yourself in other activities especially more challenging ones, try do some new things that would get your mind off her. Interact with more people, make new friends, attend events, etc 2: Time : Allow times to heal you cos only time can heal so when you look back you will just laugh. Hope this helps. But next tym don't love sheepishly with all your heart. Love with your brain. |

As we remember OAU Five. Today is July 10 and it remains a great day to every product of Great Ife Obafemi Awolowo University. A day to rejoice and a day to reflect . A day which some young men sacrificed their lives thus making OAU the safest campus in Nigeria and indeed Africa in which students can walk around at any time during the day and night without fear of intimidation . Today marked the era in which Great Ife Students defeated the evil called cultism. We remember and celebrate iwilade George aka Africa and four others who were martyred on this day by dreaded cultists on the order of the then VC Wale Omole. We Great Ife will not stop until justice is done and those behind the murder of these individuals are brought to justice beginning with Wale Omole. *Attached Today, we remember GEORGE IWILADE aka AFRIKA. I believe we are all familiar with this man's story and that of the other four (OAU 5) that lost their lives on this exact day some years back. As a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, we may at one point or the other heard about what transpired before July 10, 1999 and the aftermath of what happened that day. Since that day, their footprints have been left on OAU soil, their names engraved in most students hearts. Till today they are referred to as heroes, 'OAU STUDENTS' MARTYRS!'. We believe their death paved way for the peace we enjoy now on our campus: free movements at any time of the day, zero cultists operation, egalitarian system amongst other things. What is even special about this guy, Afrika? Nothing. Yes, nothing except for the fact that he stood for what he believed in. History tells us that he fought with all he had. He was brave, principled, clear headed, uncompromising, epitome of unionist, activist to the core! They won the 1999 fee hike struggle against the school management (whom we all view as invincible). How I wish our unionists today were like him, at least, our Students Union might not have been in this current regressive state. He made an IMPACT. He left a LEGACY. What impact are we making at that place we are today? What will me and you be remembered for? What legacy are we going to leave behind? Can we sacrifice all we have for the GOSPEL? Can we die for CHRIST? If we can't die for what we live for, then we are not worthy of living. AFRIKA is a movement! AFRIKA lives on! #NoToCultism #IStandforChrist #ReopenOAU I enjoin all Great Ife products around the world to continue to spread the message of zero tolerance to cultism. I am Kenneth Cole Proudly Great Ife and I say "NO" to cultism!!!

Parents need to understand that the sensory neurons in the brain of kids are more sensitive than adults, they retain more information and as quickly as possible. However what they do with this information matters a lot. Just last week in my area a boy of about four years and a girl of the age of three where caught doin "husband " and "wife". |
Must you put "Igbo" to describe the seller in your story?? His a seller or trader simple. |

I hated maths, I hate it so much. I hate it morE when my peers, were answering questions and I couldn't answer. I keep wondering how they manage to get the workings. What makes me more angry is that the "Example" will be simple, but the actual exercise will be hell. I failed maths in secondary schl so many times that I got used to failing it. And our Maths teacher never bothEred out us because when he teaches he focuses on those that understand maths only. But I found solace in English Language back 2 back success, I represented my local govt @ various spelling Bee competitions. |

It's me again. I authoritatively compiled from my sources for you to understand the Legal issues in the Governorship tussle in Abia State. Useful Legal Tips on the Abia Guber imbroglio... ☆The FHC that ruled in favour of Dr Ogah was not an Election Petition Tribunal. It is not stricto sensu bound by the ELECTORAL ACT as amended. ☆The FHC was invited to entertain a pre-election dispute between Dr Ogah and HE Dr. Ikpeazu concerning eligibility of HE Dr Ikpeazu and based on PDP GUIDELINES for conduct of guber primary. ☆The FHC on the documentary evidence before it found as a fact that based on PDP Guidelines for the conduct of the said gubernatorial primaries, that Dr Ikpeazu was ineligible to be cleared and or contest the said guber primary election because he failed to meet the criteria stipulated therein relating to proper standing on tax payment. ☆ The FHC was invited to interprete the implication of non-compliance with the said guidelines and it viewed that the guidelines constitute an irrevocable agreement between the aspirants interse (amongst themselves) and the party. Any aspirant falling short of the irreducible minimum is ineligible to contest the said primary. Dr Ikpeazu having breached the guidelines was ineligible to contest and as such deemed in law not to have garnered lawful votes. Dr Ogah who came second was thus declared the winner. ☆The court found as a fact that Dr Ikpeazu was in default of some ground rules and conditions precedent for eligibility to contest and consequently visited the infraction with the severe legal consequences in favour of Dr Ogah. ☆ INEC claimed to have obeyed the order of the FHC that certificate of return be issued to Dr Ogah immediately. ☆The FHC and State High Court in Osisioma are of coordinate jurisdiction. None can overule the other. ☆When two judgements of courts of competent jurisdiction exist, it lends itself to administrative discretion. This means that the person at whom these two judgements are directed is at liberty to obey one and disregard the other. ☆The live question is whether a FHC, not being an Election Petition Tribunal, in the exercise of its pre-hearing jurisdiction, is bound by the reliefs which an Election Petition Tribunal is precluded from granting? ☆ The issuance of COR to Dr Ogah by INEC legally nullifies the earlier COR issued to Dr Ikpeazu and should terminate his stint as Governor of Abia State. ☆Dr Ogah having not been sworn in despite being issued a valid and subsisting COR cannot be Governor or begin to discharge the duties of that office. ☆ The Deputy Governor of Abia State is the defacto Acting Governor of Abia State and all actions of government should be carried out by him until the resolution of the impasse. Note that if Dr Ogah eventually gets sworn in, he is stuck with the present Deputy Governor. ☆The two day public holidays declared in Abia are neither here nor there. With specific reference to the likelihood of the said public holiday preventing Dr Ogah from being sworn in, it must be underscored that no law suggests that a Governor cannot be sworn in on a public holiday including Saturdays and Sundays. ☆Remember we said that Abia State has entered legal sudden death penalty shootout. We are watching! Source ABN
