But Pep really needs to think about this statistic: 3 seasons of no single victory in a CL away knockout match. I was reading an interview by Jose Mourinho, and he made a statement that I consider to be profound: He said he looks forward to knockout phases of the CL, as it is a stage for the mentally tough. I think that's one area that Pep needs to work on for himself; it's good to be a Calatan managing a great Catalan side, but if he wants to be a Capello or Ferguson, people he repeatedly tells us he admires, he needs to work on the mental strength required to do the business in the toughest enemy terrain.

The most important thing I saw in that game was: Barcelona can't soak up pressure in a war zone, playing against fiercely motivated opposition spurred on by mad fans. A Mourinho would have walked into the Emirates, gotten his result in an ugly fashion, and walked out of there. I think the whole talk about 'two teams playing the best footie' got the team carried away, and maybe thought they were playing a friendly match. For some spells of the game, it certainly looked like that, The intensity and hunger to win that I saw against RM was not there.

Song going forward doesnt take anything from his game, AW is preparing for life after FAB4 and I doubt thats a bad thing to do . . .that explains why Wilshere is seen to have come of age, not because of his vision alone, but the swap in rols has added some variety and unpredictability to the team . . .
