Politics / Re: Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Can Contest In 2015 - San by hapi(m): 3:09pm On Sep 12, 2011
i am really impressed with almost 99% of responses so far, it shows its no longer north vs south or muslim s xtians. we are one nigerian and we are the one suffering all this mess. the politians have used the religious sentinemts to seperate us for a very long time. truth be told GEJ has been a failure, right from his days in bayelsa state. if somehow he performs wonders, nigerians will still want him to continue in office, if he is as good as gaddafi he can rule for life. but so far he has been very poor.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to withdraw the nominations he has made to replace eight of the 13 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) whose tenure has expired, since most of those being proposed as RECs have been found to be card-carrying members of the PDP.

In a statement issued in Lagos yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the President should fill the slots through a transparent process that will lend credence to his transformation agenda, and will also allow him to adopt at least part of the recommendations of the Justice Uwais Panel on electoral reform.

It expressed total disappointment at the system adopted by the President to replace the RECs whose tenure has expired, saying Nigerians had expected him to seize the opportunity handed to him by the expiration of the tenure to start showing Nigerians his commitment to transparency and probity in the country’s electoral process.

“Nigerians had expected that in line with some of the recommendations of the Justice Uwais panel, the President would have caused the vacant posts of the RECs to be advertised and the names of those short-listed published so that Nigerians can scrutinize them before they are interviewed and the successful ones among them appointed.

“Rather, the President opted to stick to the old, discredited way of doing things by handpicking known members and sympathizers of the PDP. This is wrong and calls to question the President’s commitment to his so-called transformation agenda,” ACN said.
The party particularly described as worrisome and insensitive on the part of the President, his decision to reappoint Dr. George Ada, one of the RECs whose tenure has expired.
“Dr. Ada was a speaker in Cross River House of Assembly during the tenure of Governor Donald Duke; If that is not partisanship, then we need another definition for the word.

The same Dr. Ada presided over the 2007 election (as REC) in Benue state, which threw up David Mark, and it is common knowledge that the state's election tribunal annulled that election.

why don't the inec cairman appoints the rec?

sorry guys/ladies, i am not a sentimental person and i know passionate nigerians are about religion. but let's face the fact nigerians voted sentimentaly, the north for buhari and the south for jonathan. but even in the north buhari didn't score 90% in any state, atleast 30% of the muslims in the north voted for jonathan, where as in the so se/ss jonathan got 99% and buhari got lets than 1%. so are we saying jonathan is more qualified than buhari. can somebody tells me jonathan trackrecord, presidency is more than facebook. we all know our biggest problem in this country is corruption, can u honestly say jonathan will tackle it. guys lets face the fact we allowed religion to cloud our vision and we are paying for it. we have a president that is not serious in fighting corruption, how will others be interested in fighting it. which fg job can you applied for in naija today and be employed based on merit, u have to knw a senator, reps member or the preident itself. lets try and put religion aside when it comes to politics, 2015 is around the corner.

I THINK IT'S HIGH TIME WE KNOW THAT WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE. IF WHAT MR. EL RUFAI SAID IS TRUE, IT CALLS FOR CONCERN. SENTIMENT ASIDE WA ALL KNOW THAT MR PRESIDENT IS VERY RECKLESS IN SPENDING. WHEN U CALCULATE 10,000 US DOLLARS FOR 4000 DELEGATES, U BEGIN TO GET AN IDEA OF WAT IS HAPPENING.  BY CHALLENGING THE GOV. WE PUT THEM ON THEIR TOES, THEY PERFORM BETTER THAT WAY. SADLY, THEY KNOW OUR WEAK POINT (RELIGION, NORTH V SOUTH). LETS TREAT THIS NATION AS ONE NOGERIA. IF JONATHAN DO NOT PERFORM PLS SOUTH SOUTH SPEAK UP, CHRISTIANS SPEAK UP. IF THE COUNTRY IS GOOD WE ALL BENEFIT FRM IT, & IF IT IS BAD WE ALL SUFFER.

Politics / Re: Just Arrived Nigeria And Its Gej All Over The Place. by hapi(m): 9:24am On Apr 01, 2011
i really don't understand nigerians, we've spent 12 of pdp rule in nigerian and what do we have to show for it, 4000mw of electricity @ $15bn. i cry when i see nigerians still using religion sentiments in politics. do we want to destroy the future of our children, are we not tired of poverty in nigerian. this is a country where a chemical eng'ring graduate cannot produce common soap, where a civil eng'ring graduate cannot construct a bridge, where our eng'rs cannot find a solution to ajaukuta steel mill and do our president do: build more universities when the ones on ground cannot be standardized. nigerians pls lets give buhari/bakare a chance to cleanse us of these corruption and after their tenure we vote fashola in.

thank you.
