Just like butterflylion. that butterfly guy now using his lying skills to earn a meagre 30k with bmc, always knew he was an under rock crawler. Have you answered frank317's and HardMirror's questions? Have you answered my previous questions that expose your unimpressive logical abilities and reasoning? budaatum: Oh good. I didn't want to sneak it past you.
So, is the conscious awareness in dreams not a sort of 'perceiving', without seeing with eyes? it is. As i have said before, you can choose to call it perceiving but you aint seeing with your eyes closed. Just choice of words tho. Sure we understand ourselves |
Christianity Etc › Re: My Nairaland Journey From Christianity To Atheism In Pictures. by HardMirror(m): 5:28pm On Sep 14, 2018 |
budaatum: I am consciously aware in my dreams to the extent to which I observe myself in my dreams. Hence, 'perceive', as in "consciously aware of".
Hmm that sounds awkward. Like I'm asking you to take my word for it. True though. did you notice where i said this memory can be subconscious or concious? Most of us are concious in dreamland. I am concious most time when dreaming |

budaatum: Hardware, the brain? I can understand that.
Is what I see, perceive, reason etc the software? Or is the software the organic activity in my brain? your brain is not just organic. It is also electrical. Nerves and synapses work with electrical impulses. These impulses are enabled by ions produced by chemical processes in your brain cells |

I can't right much , I will have explain the mind location to you.....mind is not meant to.be organ.
As a said you should know this as an affective science student instead of me liberating you. my i dont really get what you are trying to achieve here. Are you just showing you know all about how the brain functions? No one is arguing that with you. You are making it seem like you are telling us something new and revolutionary. We are not here to learn everything on how the brain works. The mind is not an entity of it's own, it is a product of processes in the brain which is what we call thoughts. One part of the brain cant be enough to produce thoughts. This is why i dont want to be dilly dallying with you. This info is not changing anything here except you are trying to tell use the mind exists outside the brain, then i wld listen to you. For now you are only repeating what we know while trying to prove you know much about the topic which is not a big deal to me |

Martinez19: The mind is a property the living brain. Cut away your arm but your mind remains intact, cut certain sections of your brain and you lose some of your memory and personality. Drink, snort or inject certain chemicals and the mind changes in what it sees and hears. Your mind is the net result of the structured workings of neurotransmitters and it's receptors; nerve impulses and synaptic transmissions and the special white matter and gray matter structures. Destroy dopaminergic transmission and mental illnesses like depression, inability to handle stress, attention deficient disorder etc. results, remove the corpus callosum and notice a disintegration between the left and right cerebral hemisphere(read about split brain patients). To support HardMirror's point further, the fact that hard drugs like cocain and heroin, through chemical interactions with the brain, invoke emotions of bliss and "high" shows that our emotions have strong biological foundation.
The fact that the mind is altered when you significantly alter the brain shows that the mind is a property of the brain and it's functions are reliate on the proper functioning of the brain. The fact that the removal of certain sections of the brain leads the elimination of certain memories and certain aspects of one's personality shows you that the mind is nothing without the brain. I didn't discuss sense organs. At least you know the mind can't perceive without the sense or can the mind see without the eyes? thanks for the elaboration. |

vaxx: Anyway, cortex is that part of the brain that regulates the thinking process and it does it in many ways...you should read about it. In particular the prefrontal cortex is the area that modulates rational thinking and it is involved with decision making too. This are all thought thinking pattern which we called mind. i know this already. It does not change what i have established, has it? The cortex is part of the brain, it is not part of the eyes or tongue or foot is it? This info is not changing what i am saying, you are only further establishing the fact. The mind is not a physical thing, what we call the mind is a function of cerebral process |
Christianity Etc › Re: My Nairaland Journey From Christianity To Atheism In Pictures. by HardMirror(m): 4:18pm On Sep 14, 2018 |
vaxx: what do you understand about the function of cortex i am also not a neurologist, and i cant just start listing all i know. The summary that relates with this topic is what i have stated clearly; what we call our minds is entirely based on processes taking place in the brain |

pressplay411: Did you know of psycho-physical interaction while performing those miracles?
I am asking these questions because I would like to know at what point you decided it wasn't prayer and it wasn't God. absolutely not. I stated realizing after an out reach in which we prayed for a blind community chairman in an ondo community called Ajabuto. The man had all the faith we also had faith for his healing but in the end he was still blind. It really got me thinking and reviewing a lot i thought i knew |
Christianity Etc › Re: My Nairaland Journey From Christianity To Atheism In Pictures. by HardMirror(m): 4:13pm On Sep 14, 2018 |
vaxx: I am not a neurologist, but i hypothesis that further and future study may tell us many things about cortex. wld it tell us our thoughts are not a product of our brains? Does it seem to be going in that direction? I think our science is advance enough to know that thoughts are entirely based on our brains |
Christianity Etc › Re: My Nairaland Journey From Christianity To Atheism In Pictures. by HardMirror(m): 3:18pm On Sep 14, 2018 |
vaxx: mind is an abstract pact of the brain and central nervous system. Nothing can happen without a thought and thought is process in the mind indeed it is an abstract part of brain process. We call it mind not cos it is a physical entity but because we need to name the process of thoughts embodiment |
Christianity Etc › Re: My Nairaland Journey From Christianity To Atheism In Pictures. by HardMirror(m): 3:16pm On Sep 14, 2018 |
pressplay411: I don't understand. Were the miracles you performed not real? Were they arranged? no they seemed real but were not really miracles as we would think. Eg praying for the sick worked a lot. Not all the time but to a good extent you see people with malaria and stuff get healed but i have come to realize that it is a phycho-physical interaction. Our mental state could lead to the release of hormones that plays a major role in how strong we are. Eg fear releases adrenalin which makes it possible for even an injured man to run. The atmosphere of prayers could be so comforting that it relieves stress and enables the release of hormones needed for our bodies to focus on strengthening the immune system. What ever healing you would get is always one that is naturally possible for your body. Things like organ regeneration wld be impossible. That is why no amount of prayers would heal an amputee. This alone is proof that the prayers were not the cause of healing. Raising the dead? Sure, the 'dead' can come back to life, it happens even with non believers a quick google search wld show you that people pronounced dead do wake up more often than people think. But would a beheaded man wake up? Absolutely no. Until prayers actually do these things that would never naturally occur, it is foolish to think prayers work |
