eazylion01: @yemmy111, be careful with that agents, he collected fee for getting admission to Cyprus uni? It is free. Vaccination for what’s exactly? No vaccination as well and OKTOBOARD only works from Abuja,I think he’s trying to take more money from you for no reason,OkTB is usually within $500-700 depending on the agent and he’s not the one to authenticate results, its only done in ministry of education and foreign affairs in Abuja,it’s not needed for for studies in north Cyprus between. .......wait o we don't need to authenticate results again in Abuja ministry of education and foreign affairs like it's not needed ?? Plz explain better |

Take note we have two countries: One is Cyprus (South Cyprus) and the second is TRNC (North Cyprus). For either SC or TRNC, you can get the citizenships through:
---Naturalization based on years of residence ---Marriage to Cypriot ---Investment Programme
Naturalization based on years of residence
If you have lived in S.Cyprus with a Temporary Residence Permit (applicable to students) for at least 5 years, during which time you did not leave Cyprus for longer than three months. You must have a work contract that’s either open-duration or for a minimum of 18 months before you apply for a permanent residency; then you become eligible to apply for Cypriot citizenship once you have lived in Cyprus for at least seven out of ten years, and you have a clean criminal record. For TRNC; you must have worked with a legal work permit for at least 6 years, then you can apply for a white card (permanent) and after 2-3 years you can apply for the passport.
Investment Programme
If you purchase property in Cyprus at the value of at least €300,000 in SC (recently terminated due to many criminals getting EU passport via this you may watch Aljazeera video on that). While for TRNC around €150,000 and living for some years.
Marriage to Cypriot
This is applicable to either TRNC or SC; you can submit the citizenship application after you have completed three years of marriage and two years of residence in Cyprus prior to the date of application.
Above listed are the conditions to get the passport
Yes, you can apply for 15 countries visas from TRNC like USA, UK, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Germany, etc while for others you can go to Turkey or if you have access to go to SC.
Yes, it's common with SC, from what have seen they will rather go for the person coming from more developed nations (just my observation) but generally they marry foreigners. For TRNC; similar, however, the population of TRNC Cypriot is lower and the majority prefer marrying themselves. Three of my Ph.D. students which are TRNC Cypriots married foreigners (Mexican, black American, and Spanish).
Are they Racist, Do they marry black guys? Racism is everywhere in different forms and categories, just like for those in Nigeria; how the Ibos will not marry Yorubas and Hausa will not marry ibos and vice versa. How, Nigerians are quick to say I am Yoruba or I am Igbo even if one person commits a crime they quickly call the tribe instead of calling that the person is Nigerian. The same way some African Christians will not even date a Muslim while some traditionalists will not even date the churchgoers. The same way some black Americans are killed or rejected by White American or the same way South Africans will burn the house of Nigerians... All are forms of racism and yes, you can experience it based on your nationality, color, accent, etc. So what is common in Cyprus is favoritism, as a Cypriot you likely going to be attended to first or than foreigners depending on where the foreigners come from. I have experienced racism in Cyprus, the USA, UK, and Ireland, and even Brazil so it's a global trend...the degree just differs.
Another subtle racism I have seen is where the foreigners are coming from. In some years ago; I want to invest in some nice properties in TRNC, the developer wants me to pay half of the money before development and said most of their clients get a mortgage (loan) on that resort from local banks. The local bank approved me and my other biz partners because we have international passports from some of the developed countries they only approve. Meaning, I checked the list of passport holders from Nigeria and nearly all Africans are not approved. I asked why they don't give they said because it is so difficult to trace people from there and they have no direct relation with those countries risk accessors bla bla.....told me I got what I needed but it sounds racist act to me since I have multiple passports so I got the mortgage. Anyway; each country has its own rules and ways.
Any police brutality recorded on blacks? I need answers please. God bless us Currently they don't have SARS, the police hardly carry guns, I think hardly demand a bribe and I have lived for years in Cyprus and have access to both TRNC and SC; I can say the police are normal if you are not a criminal. It's hard for police to just stop you on the road (have never been stopped anyway) start brutalizing you. Although some have experienced some bad things from the police so I can't say 100% they are okay. But I have never heard in 20 years that their police just wake up one day and shoot innocent residents.
What I have noticed is that the traffic police have brought tickets for my Ph.D. students and he never owns a car. They billed him around 5000 TL for accumulated bills; he went there and they asked him to pay he told them he never drive in Cyprus before; they show his name on their system; it the same names as his but the person that committed actually different location and different passport number; they let go after clarification. Some may not be clarified and have heard this sometimes.
In TRNC; the police will prefer to protect a Cypriot rather than a foreigner which I know; their few cases of fraudulent Turkish or Cypriot landlords that cheated foreigners; when they went to the police; the police did not arrest the person they say is against their whatever law but ask the foreigners to go to court. Going to court means you spend more money. So these types of cases seem very common.
Take note: this is my personal experience, it may not be universal, it may be different from others. Also, I am a professor, have investments there and with passports from developed nations, and am black so the treatment I get may be different from another black person coming from another developing nation.
I hope this helps.

mosthigh33: FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Don't pay rent in Dollars, Euros or Pounds. Don't listen to agents telling you rents are in thr above currencies. All TRNC citizens pay rent in TL they don't pay in hard currencies and recently the country encourage landlord to take rent in Turkish Lira(TL) don't convert TL to Euro or Dollars it's going to be higher! Don't listen to them
A free tip for people coming to Léfkosa
Ask anyone you are going to Hamitkoy, There are student dormitories around Hamitkoy between the range of 1000-1500 TL
Walk Into their office and make payment. Accommodation ranges for 5months - 12 months
Both deposit and rent are in TL
1 deposit, 5-12months rent and No commission
There are so many of them in lefkosa region
......thank u this is the kind of exposure we need ......please bring more to the table ...God bless |

I wonder person that has no single travel experience, never lived in any of the European countries or any place abroad will not be advising his/her government first. These are the types of people agents deceive because they are desperate and going abroad not for education but otherwise. ...see as dem expose him papa yarnsh...lol ......

It is not necessarily true. First of all, Okay to Board (OTB) is airline specific. If you can get OTB for an airline to your destination, why go through all the hassle and tussle for visa? OTB is less stressful, more affordable and probably quicker to process compared to applying for Visa. Advice: If you can get OTB to your destination, go for it. ... But it's not available in lagos .. |
