*Can Nigeria Survive Another Century As an Entity Of State?*
*By Layeni Hakeem*

While some are clamouring for restructuring, some wanted the arrangement of the country to remain Sacrosanct. Firstly, the questions we need to ask ourselves as a concern Nigerians is that; What is restructuring? Who are those clamouring for a restructured Nigeria? Is restructuring the solution to our shrinking economy? How will a restructured Nigeria be different from today's Nigeria?. There have been many responses to the question of restructuring, but I will like to state mine. Moreover, I must remind us that in 2014, Nigeria held a national conference in which every part of the region was highly represented and 65% of the delegates agreed on the restructuring issue. To my own view, I think that confab report is a very sacrosanct resource to answer the question of restructuring. However, since independence , our political leaders mostly from the North have bastardized the structure of federalism and replaced it with a structure in which the federal government is the administrator of virtually all power, resources, as well as power to develop all States resources. State have no control over their resources and must depend on federal allocations in order to exist as an entity. State are impotent, cannot control their resources neither to fight poverty in their domains. The effect of all these is that Nigeria and Nigerians are now suffering for setback. Most public facilities like roads, electricity among others are not in good shape. Most Nigerian youth are unemployed and hopeless, the relations between Nigeria's problem has been degenerated into hostility. Crimes have also makes Nigeria unsafe. However,it is necessary to conceptualise the grammatical contour in other to have better understanding on the subject matter. Restructuring simply means that all these must be treated, we must return to the kind of federal arrangement of the 1950s if Nigeria want to survive another century as a corporate entity. According to Chief Joseph Oke in one of his lecture series at the preferred Lagos State University, he said and I quote "Necessary steps must be taken to prevent resructuring from going the other way. Oke further said that the present arrangement was lopsided with too mush power given to the federal government". However, States and local government councils which are more closer to the grassroots has been marginalised. In conclusion to all these, I think there are some gaps in the formation of the Country which our leaders needs to fill rather than focusing on 2019 general elections.

HIJAB AND WIG
I feel when we want to take sides on this issue, everyone arguing for or against should try as much as possible to be in TABULA-RASA.
I remember when drama ensued at Baptist high school in Iwo osun state over religious sentiment and reports made available on various media platforms reports that children went to school in different attires according to their religion, in as much as this might be a school setting, we all should relate it to the courtroom. Permit me to use some words i have coined for the purpose of this write up. We have 'RELIGIOUSLISE' everything we do in the country and we should not try to bring our religious sentiments or religious 'FANTISM' into law. How does it feel or how will it look like when the judge appears with a lemon vest with the same of a certain church inscribed on it over his attire, while the defendant also appears with a lemon vest with the inscription as that of the judge inscribed on it, and the lawyer for the plaintiff appears with an hijab on her head? Surely there won't be any sort of understanding between the two.
Nigerians are the most difficult individuals to deal with in the world, everyone tries to support his or her beliefs with claims that are sometimes baseless and outrageous. In as much as the the constitution provides for right to freedom of religion, something's are just logical and does not need us arguing or debating about. I have seen people talk about the united states allowing ladies of a certain religion to be called to bar with hijab but we all should remember that a country like Nigeria where we have had series of religious wars and clashes, trying to change a norm because of a religious would only cause more damage. The bodies of both religion are silent on the issue currently but expect an uproar when the verdict on this issue goes against either of the religious bodies.
The truth is we won't get any where if we continue to argue. We should let the sleeping dog lie.

RELIGION:
Note: religion as used in this article applies to both Christianity and Islam, also this part of the world.
This happened today while I was rushing to catch a bus going to Ikeja at ikorodu round about, I overheard a woman saying "if you want to go into kidnapping and you don't want yo get caught, set up a church" although this statement irked me perhaps because it speaks against my religion. The church/Christianity has been under fire or let me say has been marred with the issue of tithing in the past few weeks, although I don't want to go into this argument but let me say a few things. I am OK with tithing as long as money contributed from widows mite is used to build schools affordable to those who contributed the money and I'm in full support of tithing as long as money contributed is plunged back into the church to alleviate and not augment or elevate poverty in the church and society at large.
To the issue, I think its a shame to see that religion has become what it is in the 21st century. Religion has turned out to be something one can say. The last time I checked, religion is something that preaches peace but these days, religion has become a testing ground for war and people can propagate hate speeches all in the name of religion. People now segregate all in the name of religion. We have schools meant for only one religion, we have offices where only one religion is allowed e.t.c if care is not taken a time would come where religion would control buying and selling.
Furthermore, there have been an outcry that our leaders have failed us, all we get now is politicians switching allegiance and one begins to wonder is there a party for the saint's? The real problem is that, people we see as our spiritual leaders or father's have failed us, all hear today is how spiritual fathers are committing all manners of atrocities and the question is"if our leaders failed us, should our spiritual fathers fail us too? We have had reforms in some sectors in the country, should we say there should be a religious reform?

PONMILE
A short story inspired by reminisce ponmile
Mama aminat groaning in pain on the floor, baba aminat was sweating profusely, yet he shouted on his wife“get up , this useless woman, I will kill you today, oti ri nkan nkan” this was a family that has never known peace, ever since they moved to this neighborhood 5 years ago, a day hardly passes by that noise doesn’t emanate from their home, a neighbor reiterated to passersby as they take their turn to glance at mama aminat who has been lying helpless on the floor for about 10minutes.
Baba aminat through his usual habit after beating his wife had gone to the bathroom to take his bath, only for him to meet a handful of people trying to resurrect his wife, seeing this brought his senses to reality that his wife of 15 years and mother of his 3 children is about to die. For a family of five to have survived for 15 years then something must have gone wrong somewhere. Here is their story.
Baba aminat during his youth days was very nonchalant; h disturbs the neighborhood that no one dares to mingle with him. Mama aminat on the other hand was his opposite, she was humble, gentle and kind. Then one begins to wonder what made her marry him, the truth of the matter is that she married him out of pity, when she saw that no one dares to mingle with him, she had to force herself on him thinking she would change him, but all this while she was wrong. In the beginning, there was no love, but there was a mystery somewhere? How did they survive for 15 years? The reality is that trouble started when they moved to the neighborhood 5 years ago. Baba aminat has always been a promiscuous man but his wife coped with him for 10 years. However, after they moved in, baba aminat rose to the rank of general in extra marital affairs and by this time, mama aminat couldn’t cope again but she stayed because she thought she didn’t want to hurt their children but all this while she was wrong, her children seeing this happen to their mother had a psychological effect on them that their first child aminat vowed never to marry that she isolate herself from any gathering that involved male while her younger brothers at a tender age took after their father and they have been expelled from two schools respectively on the ground of beating a girl to stupor.
Back to reality, mama aminat after lying helplessly for 20 minutes gave up the ghost because the beating was much and the last time she visited the hospital, the doctor had warned her that she has survived much internal injuries that any slight beating again might lead to their her death. Baba aminat after seeing what had happened tried to flee but he was held back by onlookers who later handed him over to the police and he was later sentenced to death by hanging on the grounds of domestic violence and murder. SAY NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

SIGNIFICANCE
The reality is that there has been an increase in the rate of domestic violence in the past few months. I was skeptical when reminisce released this song but in the end reminisce proved me wrong and huge credit goes to him for putting out such song. The truth is that most marriage start on a happy note but along the line, couples have little issue that when they couldn’t manage, escalate quickly into things that may lead to something tragic. Taking clues from reminisce song, love shouldn’t be out of pity or force, one should have genuine feelings for one partner and also make sure that such feelings is reciprocated before one goes into marriage.
One more reason for the huge increase in domestic violence is the social media. According to the magic bullet theory which states that “The theory explains how media controls what the audience views and listens to and the effects, which can be immediate or later in future.” young couples today get carried away with pre-wedding photos, bridal shower and the likes forgetting the fact that wedding is just for a day but marriage is a lifetime contract that needs dedication and love when it matters most. Many might argue this, left for me when one sees that a marriage isn’t working, one shouldn’t be afraid to walk out of the marriage, instead of trying to endure which left for me is good but at a point one feels the endurance isn’t working or why try to engage in extra marital affairs when you know the dangers in the end, all in the name of keeping your marriage.
The end result of domestic violence is that it never ends. Children who experience such things tend to suffer psychologically and there is huge tendency they follow that path only few individuals who experience this does not follow this ugly trend. In the end, genuine love conquereth all. SAY NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
LiteratureYou Might Win The Battle And Lose The War by haywhybamz(op): 5:24pm On Sep 24, 2017
You might win the battle; just know you have lost the war
A father took his son on a journey round his farm one day which was about 4 hectares to teach him more about life. The young boy who was very excited on the rare opportunity took his camera before the journey so as to show his friends the next day at school how a big farm looks like and how rich is father was, but he never knew what was in store for him, he never knew he would learn a vital lesson that would help shape his life that day.
After about 5 minute on the journey, the young man looked keenly at his son who was busy taking pictures and he shook his head because the boy never knew what he was about to say. After a while, they arrived at an orange tree, the man took the camera from the boy and sat him down to begin his story.
He started by asking his son if he knew some certain animals which the boy responded yes firmly to, then he started. Once upon a time in the animal kingdom, all animals lived happily together. The dove was in charge of ensuring peace amongst all members but everything seems to be in disarray because ever since she assumed the post, it was trouble upon trouble. Despite all her effort to ensure peace reign, the end of war seems to be nowhere in sight, how could this happen? Why during my time? There must be someone sabotaging my efforts? All this and more was going through her head but she couldn't find a way out. the king showed enough patience and faith in dove, when the animal kingdom was on the verge of collapse, the king had to remove dove and replace her with the hyena, then peace came to the animal kingdom. Sooner or later, it was discovered that the hyena was behind the trobules in the animal kingdom because she lost out at being the peace adviser to the king during the first attempt to dove. When the news got to the king, he was very angry that he oredered hyena and her family to be banished from the animal kingdom till eternity and this was the end of the hyena in the animal kingdom. Remember the hyena got her wish of becoming the peace adviser but she was banished. She won the battle and lost the war. The boy went on his knees and wept because his life in class can be likened to that of the hyena. He explained to his father his role in causing havoc in class, his father embraced him and told him in other to have a rest of mind, he must make amends in school the following day, which he did.
To some out there, your story is just like that of the hyena, remember you might acquire wealth or gain popularity by causing havoc between friends, parties or groups but know posterity will judge everyone and no one would plant onions and expect apple on his farmland, its not possible its simple logic of life.
Hello aunty and uncle. For you aunty, your own is to go into a family and destroy the joy that has been built for years within a second, uncle, your own is to dupe people, remember no matter the rorm it takes a fraud is a fraud. I am happy to tell you there's something call VENGEANCE. Oh you are afraid? Don't be, it a simple logic about life, its karma. Everyone would get a share of what they do either good or bad. I heard someone saying I might not be a partaker of what I sow, but I am happy to tell ypu today that your generations yet unborn would partake and reap in what we do today. I have seen someone lose a contract worth millions because of his the deed someone in his family had done, and I have heard of someone who got a job when he's less qualified or hopeful just because of a little act of kindess someone close to him had done in the past. Why not choose to do good today?
To that individual out there, your best might not be the best everyone sees; you might be the central of attraction in something bad and deep down you knew nothing about. Carry on; do not relent just because people aren't seeing the good in you, the creator somewhere is sitting waiting to reward everyone. Do not stop your good act just because it seems like it putting you into trouble, remember a simple act of kindness we don't notice might be the force that connects us to the world and our desired dream. Why not continue the good act? Remember the liitle we can offer goes a long way in helping humanity. I heard someone saying what if the person I help refuse to acknowledge me or turn back at me? Remember we all are different being from different background and family. The simple answer to that is a yoruba proverb which says " ti oni igba bani ohun o gin gba mo, eyi to ti fi n o le parun" even if the person dedides not to acknowledge the fact that you hepled him/her, the one/ones you have done can never be written off. Remember do good to everyone today.
Above all also remember you might win the battle and lose the war.
SportsThoughts After Chelsea Vs Stoke Game by haywhybamz(op): 8:35pm On Sep 23, 2017
My thoughts on the game
1. Hattrick hero ALVARO MORATA is proving to be a good buy for Chelsea. After a good performance today, I think the talks about Alvaro morata price tag should finally go to bed. A performance where he could have scored more goals but a first premier league hattrick is enough.
2. Marcos Alonso needs to rest: after a stunning performance against Tottenham earlier on in the season, one would think Alonso would continue in that form. One undoing from Chelsea this season would be not giving Alonso some time to rest
3. Fabregas and hazard key: after enduring a bad 2016/17 season where he played less games, I think cesc fabregas has once again proved why he deserves a starting place in Chelsea xi. Eden hazard has continued in the form where he left off last season and both players would be key to Chelsea retaining the league this season and possibly a good performance in Europe.
4. Azpilicueta is under rated: when Chelsea bought Cesar from Marseille 4 or 5 years ago one would think he is just another player who would wear the Chelsea shirt for one season and then go on series of loans before being sold. Cesar over the years have proved to be a good buy for Chelsea and his versatility has seen him play at the right, left and centre of the Chelsea defence in the last 3 seasons but I feel the Spaniard is not getting enough credit for his performance.
5. Rudigier or Christensen over captain Cahill: when john terry ended his Chelsea career last season,One would feel Gary Cahill is the perfect man to step in the shoes of club legend terry but Cahill hasn't been convincing this season. A shameful performance against Burnley in the first game of the season has increased doubt on his abilities. Rudigier a summer buy from Roma has adapted well to the premier league same as academy graduate Andres Christensen who have both been solid this season for the club. Cahill has served the club with his heart and earned his place amongst the club greats but it's time to step up or he gets used to the bench.
6. Willian should get used to life on the bench: after showing his abilities and great skills in Europe while at shelter Donetsk coupled with him winning the clubs best player two seasons ago, one would think willian would set his career on the high but the reverse is the case. Willian has been on the low this season, selfish, lose the ball quick amongst other dismal performance one would feel sorry for willian when hazard get fits as he might get little playing chance. The rise of charly musonda and Robert Kennedy who are both ready to take their chance at the club when given the opportunity one might say willian is nearing the end of his Chelsea career.
7. The club in good shape: after loosing the first game of the season to Burnley, pundits and critics wrote Chelsea off and even predicted Antonio conte might be sacked but its amazing to see how the team has bounced back and turned their season around. Although still a little Bit shaky but with this kind of performance against a spirited stoke city side, one would say the best is yet to come for the blues.
