Politics / Composition Of Tinubu’s Transition Committee In Order – Sulaiman by hdaveyork(m): 11:19am On Apr 22, 2023 |
Composition of Tinubu’s transition committee in order – Sulaiman
An elder statesman, Abdul-Azeez Abbah Sulaiman, has praised the composition of the transition committee of the President-elect Bola Tinubu Ahmed, saying it was a sign of inclusivity.
Some of the members are; Stella Okotete, Makinde Araoye, Betta Edu, Samira Saddik, Abuh Andrew Abuh, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir, and Donald Wokoma.
Suleiman, in a statement on Saturday, said those selected are young people with proven records of being respectful and passionate about sharing Tinubu’s values, visions and strategies for dealing with issues that affect national interests.
He said: “Governance is said to be inclusive when it effectively serves and engages all people; takes into account gender and other facets of personal identity; and when institutions, policies, processes and services are accessible, accountable and responsive to all members of society.
“Fostering governance that is inclusive is essential to advancing democratic values, including peaceful pluralism and respect for diversity, human rights and equality before the law.
“Mere looking at the names on the list of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential Transition Committee is enough to give one the satisfaction that the president-elect intends to run an inclusive government.
“By giving consideration to the plural nature of the Nigerian society in making his nominations, is proof enough that Tinubu will lead an administration that is about ensuring that everyone feels valued and respected as an individual.
“Yes, weeks to formal swearing-in, the president-elect has already taken steps in the direction of inclusiveness by embracing inclusivity and diversity in the quality of the many different types of people of all regions, tribes, gender, age and religions and treating them all fairly and equally.
“A passionate believer of the organic links between generations, always available for young people, Tinubu’s transition committee list has stood him out as a great statesman a mentor, a guardian, a living history and an embodiment of all the exemplary qualities young Nigerians should strive to achieve.
“Essentially, the list is made up of Nigerians of all faith and all ethnic groups who feel they have a major role to play in rescuing the nation from the margins of irrelevance, impotence, inconsequence and decay.
“Commendably, in addition to involving every significant component of Nigerian society, the intelligentsia, community leaders, as well as the business community and bring them into the mainstream of his activities, the President-Elect has nominated a significant number of young people with a sizeable number of women to take prominent roles in the Committee.
“Committee members such as Hon. Stella Okotete, Mr. Makinde Araoye, Dr. Betta Edu, Samira Saddik, Abuh Andrew Abuh, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir, and Donald Wokoma are all young men and women with proven records of being respectful and passionate about sharing Tinubu’s values, visions and strategies for dealing with issues that affect national interests on security, on the economy, and on the manner Nigerians relate with fellow Nigerians.
“To reciprocate this gesture, Nigerian youth must collaborate strongly with the incoming Tinubu administration in upholding the principle that unity is the foundation of Nigeria’s corporate existence; diversity is part of our DNA and hard work, honesty and service to God and the community are the virtues that have been bequeathed to us.
“The youth must cash into Tinubu’s noble ideals of making massive sacrifices to keep the nation united and push it past critical turning points when national survival is threatened.
“But they cannot do this well unless they realize truly that Tinubu is genuinely committed to work to solve our basic socio-cultural problems, our regressing economy and address our precarious future.
“They should support the incoming president in his commitment to reducing youth unemployment, insecurity and poverty.
“The youth must work with Tinubu to change our political culture from one that serves the leader, to one which creates leaders that serve the people.
“With Asiwaju, they can understand the nature of Nigeria’s decaying economy and learn trades and skills that will rebuild its foundations.
“But they must seize the opportunity provided by the Asiwaju for them to acquire quality and honest education of all kinds, because you cannot lead if you are both a cheat and a glorified illiterate.
Knowledge is the foundation of good leadership, and it has no shortcuts.
“As the youth prepare to participate in the progressive journey of sustainable national development under Tinubu, they must as well accept his key driving force that Nigeria is the Nigeria of Muslims and Christians, of the largest and the tiniest ethnic groups, of the weak and the strong. It is God’s creation, planned by Him to be big, bountiful and compassionate.” https://sunnewsonline.com/composition-of-tinubus-transition-committee-in-order-sulaiman/ 19 Likes 2 Shares |
Politics / I Prayed For Shettima To Become VP, Tinubu Loves Borno – Zulum by hdaveyork(m): 10:42am On Apr 22, 2023 |
Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum on Friday revealed his long-time wish for Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima.
Zulum made the revelation when he hosted the lawmaker to a Sallah lunch at the Government House in Maiduguri.
56-year-old Shettima, ex-commissioner and former two-term governor represents Borno Central at the National Assembly.
Zulum said he would miss the huge support he got from President Muhammadu Buhari but happy President-elect Bola Tinubu and Shettima are stepping in.
The governor described the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the February election as a great relief to him and his administration.
“Senator Shettima is sitting in our midst as the Vice President-elect waiting to be sworn in. It has been one of my prayers since I was sworn in in 2019.
“Insha Allah, in the next four years, I have with me a brother and a boss that will support me, the government and the people.”
Zulum expressed confidence about the incoming federal government, saying Tinubu “dearly loves Borno State and shares our pains”.
President Buhari publicly declared his admiration for Zulum on multiple occasions, describing him as a “role model” other leaders should be like. https://dailypost.ng/2023/04/22/i-prayed-for-shettima-to-become-vp-tinubu-loves-borno-zulum/ 30 Likes 7 Shares |

Crime / Court Jails Lecturer Who Assaulted Student For Snatching Daughter’s Lover by hdaveyork(m): 6:12pm On Apr 21, 2023 |
A High Court sitting in Nasarawa State has convicted Fred Ayokhai, a teaching staff of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) for assaulting a female student, Blessing Mathias.
There was a viral video in October 2022, which revealed how Ayokhai molested Mathias by ripping off his singlet with scissors.
Mathias was also flogged and dropped off naked in the bush.
The police consequently apprehended Ayokhai and his daughter, Emmanuella, who allegedly coordinated the attack on Mathias for “snatching” her lover.
The lecturer was charged with criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, abduction and voluntarily causing grave harm without provocation and assault.
Emmanuella, Bob-Praise and Saint-Dan, all children of Ayokhai were joined in the case as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants.
Although the defendants had pleaded not guilty during the prosecution, AU Idris, their counsel, approached the court with an offer for a plea bargain.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, the presiding judge, Solomon Ayenajeh, convicted the first defendant and sentenced him to six months in jail for criminal conspiracy and another six months for assault.
The charges are to run concurrently.
The judge also said the six months period in which Ayokhai has been in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) will be counted.
Ruling on the offence of the children, the judge said they will spend six months on probation considering their ages.
The judge said they will be punished with keeping the premises of the Nasarawa State High Court clean during their sentence.
Ayenajeh also directed the third defendant, Bob-Praise, to shave his dreadlocks.
In his speech, Ayokhai thanked the judge and parties in the matter for the consideration and the leniency accorded him.
He added that he has taken steps to recompense the victim as part of the plea bargain arrangement.

Perfect! But the real issue is the Buhari-led terrorist government is making self-defence impossible for them. If you arm yourselves with ordinary machetes and say you want to go after the sophisticatedly armed terrorists, the federal government sends the police and the military after you. So, we need to be on the same page as Ortom on this and create sufficient noise that will form a part of what will lead to the needed change.
In the days of regionalism. every region had its own police and maintained its internal security. Federalism is different from a unitary system being currently operated in Nigeria. Why is our federation different from what obtains in the US, UK, Canada, India, etc. We are different nations deceptively fused together and being forcefully tethered together: that fact cannot be treated anyhow if we want a united country. Every local council or state should be legislated to have its iwn security agency. Do you even leave the security of your family in the hands of members of another who do not share any cultural and linguistic affinity with you? Yes that true bro 1 Like |

Politics / Peter Obi: Judiciary Created Crisis In Labour Party – Osuntokun by hdaveyork(m): 6:03pm On Apr 20, 2023 |
The Director General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Osuntokun, has blamed the crisis rocking the party after the 2023 general elections on the judiciary.
Osuntokun stated this in an interview on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday.
He said that the judgement by Justice Hamza Muazu of a Federal Capital Territory High Court ordering the party’s Chairman, Julius Abure, and other national executives of the party to stop parading themselves as national officers of the Labour Party instigated the crisis in the party.
He said: “There is nothing going on (in Labour Party) other than the crisis of the judiciary. It is a judge, the judiciary that made a judgement that is now responsible for creating a crisis in the Labour Party.
“It was a judge here, who in his discretion, said that Abure, who has been chairman for the primaries of the presidential, for the governorship, for the state houses of assembly; “A judge thereafter gave a judgement that that chairman should no longer parade himself as a chairman. What do you make of that? And look at who and who brought the case to him.
“The judge is a Nigerian, he reads newspapers like the rest of us, he could have taken a more logical position on what was brought before him.
“Does it mean that if a clerk in the Labour Party brings a complaint before you, you can give a judgement on the basis of that?”
According to Osuntokun, the judge had the option of allowing the chairman of the party remain in his position and go on with the case, but he rather chose an option showing that he was “setting the party up for crisis.”
Recall that Justice Muazu had issued the restraining order to the LP national officers, while ruling in ex-parte application on April 5.
Following the Abuja court judgement, the Deputy National Chairman of the party (South), Lamidi Apapa, declared himself the acting Chairman of the party.
However, a state high court sitting in Benin, on April 6, restrained Labour Party and all its members from any suspension of Abure and other national officers till the determination ofmotion on notice. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/04/peter-obi-judiciary-created-crisis-in-labour-party-osuntokun/ 18 Likes 3 Shares |
