Politics / I Read That Foreign Lawyers Are In Nigeria To Stop Tinubu Inauguration – Keyamo by hdaveyork(m): 9:21am On May 06, 2023
In a tweet on his official handle, the All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain further alleged that some legal practitioners have been flown to the country to do the job.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has alleged plots by the opposition parties to legally stop the inauguration of the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu before May 29.

The Minister, however, ascribed the move and reactions it preceded as illiteracy, saying some unscrupulous characters are taking advantage of those he termed “nattering nitwits”.

He wrote,
I read somewhere that some supposedly learned fellow is assuring the nattering nitwits that the inauguration of @officialABAT can be legally stopped before May 29th and yet another story that some foreign lawyers have been flown in to achieve that purpose.

And I read many excited reactions from these nitwits.

“Then I shook my head and murmured under my breath, ‘illiteracy is truly a disease and it is sad that some unscrupulous characters are taking advantage of these poor fellows”.

The President Election Tribunal had fixed Monday for the commencement of the hearing of the petitions filed by the opposition parties seeking to truncate the victory of Tinubu.

Meanwhile, preparation for transition is in top gear as President Muhammadu Buhari is set to hand over power to Bola Tinubu on May 29.

Tinubu, APC NWC meet, favour Akpabio as Senate President, Tajudeen as Speaker

President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Friday met with the leadership of the
National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as consultation continue on the zoning of the leadership position of the 10th National Assembly.

DAILY POST gathered that the meeting which had in attendance the NationalChairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Deputy National Chairman, South, Emma Eneukwu and the National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore took place at the Defence House in Abuja.

A reliable source who preferred anonymity said during the meeting that lasted for about 1hr 30mins, Tinubu told leaders of the party of his preference for Akpabio as the 10th Senate President while Senator Jibrin Barau will serve as his deputy.

Also, the meeting reached a compromise on the next Speaker of the House of Representatives, with Abbas Tajudeen giving the nod to preside over the 10th House.

The source said: “It is true Asiwaju met with Adamu, Omisore, Kyari and Eneukwu today (Friday).

They have agreed that Akpabio will be the next Senate President while Jibrin will be his deputy. TJ (Abbas Tajudeen) will be the next Speaker.)”

The source added that the North Central would be compensated with the position of Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Recall that Adamu had hinted on Wednesday at the end of the NWC meeting that the ruling party alongside the president-elect would agree on a consensus in the zoning of the leadership positions of the next Assembly.

“That is not what today’s meeting is all about.

When we do the zoning meeting, we don’t just go alone as a party.

Zoning is to take along the person who has the mandate of this country, the president-elect, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, we want to take him along.

He travelled after the election and he came back only last week and we have to carry him along.

“And we cannot stop those who are ambitious or zoning interests, or individual interests, we cannot deny them.

And as long as that is there, we have to find a way, persuasively, to reach some level of consensus.

That’s what we are working on. It is not a one-day affair,” Adamu had said.

Nigerian High Commissioner to Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Maldives and Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammed Bello Abioye has called on Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliations to give the incoming administration of the president- elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu maximum support.

The envoy during a video conference interview with newsmen hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for laying a solid foundation for Tinubu to build upon.

He expressed the confidence in the ability of Tinubu to make life abundant for the Nigerian masses, recalling how he made the Lagos envy of other states of the federation during his time as the governor of the state.

On his stewardship in Pakistan, Abioye said,” Nigeria and Pakistan enjoy very cordial relationship diplomatically, politically and economically and we have been building on that.”

The envoy said the Nigeria embassy has opened talks with the Pakistani government on some areas of collaborative effort and partnership to move the present level of trade volume between the two countries up.

” Areas where Nigeria can collaborate with Pakistan include education, agriculture, pharmaceutical, security, real estate, information technology and textiles.

On the issue of security in Pakistan, the envoy said: ”

Contrary to the widely held opinion, Pakistan is peaceful. Though we cannot rule out commission of certain crimes as applicable to any country in the World, we live in peace in Pakistan.

They are very good in term of monitoring people’s movement and quickly nib crime in the bud. Pakistan is not a bad place to live. The infrastructure here is also very good.”

He commended the federal government for its quick intervention in evacuating Nigerians from Sudan, saying ,” the government has done very well.”

Politics / APC Crisis: My Suit Against Adamu 'll Proceed Despite Expulsion Threat – Lukman by hdaveyork(m): 5:22pm On May 01, 2023
The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened on Monday when the party’s National Vice Chairman, North-West, Dr. Salihu Lukman vowed to continue with the court case he instituted against the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

The party chieftain had given a seven-day ultimatum to Adamu to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to give the financial account of the party.

However, following Adamu’s failure to convene the NEC meeting as demanded, at the expiration of the seven days ultimatum, Lukman, last Thursday instituted a lawsuit against the APC National Chairman.

However, the leadership assumed another dimension on Monday when Lukman wrote President Muhammadu Buhari, President -elect, Bola Tinubu and the Chairman of Progressives Governors Forum and the Governor of Yobe state, Atiku Bagudu, insisting that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party lacks the power to expel him.

DAILY POST reports that the National Legal Adviser of the party, Ahmad El-Marzuq recommended his expulsion in a memo he wrote to the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, dated April 28, 2023.

Responding to the expulsion threat in an open letter dated May 1, 2023, Lukman said while the issues raised in the memo were a response to the suit he filed in the Federal High Court, Abuja, he hoped that the memo would be presented to the meeting of NWC scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

He was of the opinion that the substantive issue would be the consideration of recommendations for disciplinary measures against him, which might require invoking Article 21.5 of the APC Constitution.

Lukman emphasised that Article 21.3(i) of the APC constitution explicitly indicated that the Executive Committee of the party is the only organ of the party with the responsibility of issuing disciplinary actions; “A complaint by any member of the party against a Public Office holder, elected or appointed, or another member or against a party organ or officer of the party shall be submitted to the Executive Committee of that party at all levels concerned which shall not later than seven (7) days of the receipt of the complaint, appoint a fact-finding or Disciplinary Committee to examine the matter”.

Lukman noted that with this provision, his expectation will be for the NWC to consider the memo and if adopted refer the recommendations for onward transmission to the National Executive Committee (NEC).

He added that in that case, the NWC will then be acting as the complainant.

Lukman said, “For the avoidance of doubt, the suit in question, which is alleged to constitute anti-party activity, will have to go ahead, especially to correct the erroneous interpretation of the Constitution by the National Legal Adviser to the effect that “it is not mandatory to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee every quarter for the purpose of presenting activities of the Party to the members of NEC.”

The party chieftain said such an interpretation coming from the National Legal Adviser, whose legal qualification was not in doubt, smacks of a deliberate attempt to manipulate the NWC into subverting the party’s constitution.

Lukman added, “There is nowhere in the APC Constitution where the NWC is given the power to discipline any member of the party.

I have already forwarded the memo to my legal team for further legal action.

“Let me say very clearly that I will proceed with the legal action I instituted to restore Constitutional order in APC up to the Supreme Court.

It is pathetic that the National Legal Adviser, rather than providing an unbiased legal opinion to guide deliberations of organs of the party, would descend so low as to imagine that threats of disciplinary action are what is required at this point.”

Politics / 10th NASS: Tinubu Group Backs Orji Kalu For 10th Senate President by hdaveyork(m): 5:00pm On May 01, 2023
A support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Volunteers Group (AVG), has backed the former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to become the next Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.

The Cross River State Coordinator of the group, Hon. George Ichichere Sunday, in a statement signed on Sunday evening in Calabar and made available to newsmen, stated that Kalu is the most qualified among other contenders.

Orji Kalu He noted that Kalu, who is the incumbent Senate Chief Whip, apart from being a ranking senator and a principal officer in the Red Chamber, is the most fully prepared for the task ahead, adding that “we need a Senate President that understands the country; a detribalised Nigerian with the charisma and capacity to complement Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kassim Shettima, and that man is Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.”

“Kalu is a respected Igbo leader whose emergence will silence agitations by the South Easterners of being marginalised by the APC.

“Senator Orji Kalu is experienced when compared with other members from other geo-political zones and he has built bridges across the country.

“We are confident that if elected, Orji Kalu’s position as Senate President would also go a long way to douse the pockets of misgivings over the emergence of the South West and the North East as the President-elect and Vice President-elect of the country.

“Our conviction goes further that the patriotism and loyalty Senator Orji has displayed over the years to the All Progressives Congress, APC also placed him above any other contestants in this race.

We are assuring our party leadership that Orji as the chairman of the National Assembly will bring peaceful relationships and understanding between the executive arm of government and the legislature,” the statement reads.

“Kalu’s mastery of the rules and proceedings of the Senate was also mentioned by the group, which stressed that his election as the next Senate President would ensure no zone in the country is left behind, adding that it “will also arrest insinuation that our President-elect is not a lover of all Christians in the country and that will balance the Muslim-Muslim ticket crises in the party.”

According to the group, “the best way to win the confidence of the Christians and the South Easterners is for the ruling APC to support the Senate Chief Whip to become the next Senate President so as to calm their nerves.”

The spokesman of the group, Okhue Oboi, asked Melaye to consult the group if he is desirous of winning the forthcoming election.

A statement he signed Oboi reads partly, We advise Melaye to see us if he is desirous of realising his governorship dream.

If he listens to our advice he will laugh because the trees and waters of the confluence state will vote for him regardless of whether Wike supports him or not.

“If he fails to see the witches and wizards, he will regret it because he will not win the election.”

Meanwhile, Oboi has warned that the threat by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State may work against Melaye if he fails to consult the witches and wizards.

“We met Igala people in Idah, Ebira people in Obehira and Yoruba people in Kabba and listened to them,” he stated.

Politics / No Force Can Stop Your Swearing In, We’ll Support You – Ohanaeze To Tinubu by hdaveyork(m): 12:36pm On Apr 29, 2023
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Ime-Obi, on Saturday, declared that no force on earth will stop the swearing-in of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29.

Ime-Obi, which is Ohanaeze’s highest decision-making body, said the organization would give Tinubu the maximum support towards ensuring that his administration succeeds.

It was reacting to a faction of the Ohanaeze that it would not recognize Tinubu as the President-elect over his refusal to include Igbos in his transition committee.

Speaking through the Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the body stressed that it recognizes Tinubu as the President-elect of Nigeria and would support him after his inauguration. Chatting with DAILY POST, Isiguzoro said:

Some people are making an unauthorized statement that they don’t recognize Tinubu as the president-elect, but let me make it categorically clear that those statements are coming from unpatriotic elements that have been suspended from the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Ohanaeze will participate fully in the inauguration of the President-elect.

It’s unpatriotic for anyone to use the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to say that a man who was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election would not be recognized by Ndigbo.

Ndigbo fully recognizes the president-elect, Vice President-elect, Shettima and we will continue to give them maximum support until a court of competent jurisdiction says otherwise.

“We will not allow people who made Ndigbo enemies of Buhari in 2015 to lead us into another tight situation where Igbos will be portrayed illegitimately that we are against or will not recognize the President-elect, which is not the position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Ndigbo are progressive-minded, economically oriented and would continue to support any government at the centre.

Those trying to pick quarrels on behalf of Ndigbo against Tinubu will not succeed because we are partaking in the inauguration at the Eagles Square, and there is no force on earth that would stop the President-elect from being sworn in.

Tinubu should not listen to those not speaking on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we will continue to support and give him maximum support and ensure that his government succeeds.

“The Ime-Obi Ohanaeze has never authorized anybody to speak against the President-elect.

Ime-Obi has fully identified and would support whoever won the presidential election.

“Ohanaeze is not an enemy to the president-elect and would not allow anybody to make an unfounded statement that Ohanaeze does not recognize Tinubu.”

Politics / Legal Grounds Why Tinubu Can’t Be Arrested & Prosecuted - NDLEA by hdaveyork(m): 11:56am On Apr 29, 2023
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has filed a preliminary objection to a suit instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and a chieftain of the opposition party, Senator Dino Melaye seeking an order of mandamus to compel the anti-narcotics agency to arrest and prosecute the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over alleged forfeiture of some funds in his bank accounts over two decades ago in the United States.

In its notice of preliminary objection signed and filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday 26th April 2023 by its Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, Joseph Nbona Sunday, NDLEA submitted that the application by the PDP, which is the 1st applicant with Melaye as 2nd, is incompetent, adding that the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain it and as such, should be struck out.

Listing its grounds for the objection, the NDLEA said both PDP and Dino Melaye “do not have a locus standi, they do not possess an interest peculiar to them and above the interests of all other Nigerians, the only underlying specific interest of the 1st Applicant then becomes political in nature”, adding that the investigation and prosecution of Tinubu was targeted at removing him as a bona-fide candidate in the February 25th 2023 presidential election.

The Agency argued that “Order of mandamus is an equitable remedy and should only be applied for in good faith and should not produce an indirect or underlying result.

The Doctrine of Judicial Self-restraint precludes this Honourable Court from delving into matters with political colouration or matters aimed at getting direct or indirect political goals.

While noting that the foundation of the PDP application was the proceeding of the US District Court of the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division in the US, “the judgment in the said proceeding was given “with prejudice”, adding that “the said proceedings and judgment have no judicial value”, and as such “the supposed cause of action of this suit as constituted is baseless and legally unsustainable.”

In a sworn affidavit in support of the Agency’s preliminary objection, a litigation officer attached to its Directorate of Prosecution and Legal Services, Chia Cosmas Depunn said that as an independent agency of government saddled with the responsibility to investigate, arrest and prosecute persons involved in drug trafficking and other related offences in Nigeria, the NDLEA has a healthy relationship with the government of the United States of America, the name of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu “by whatever acronyms or combination of names has never featured in the exchanges we had with the United States of America.”

He further claimed that the name of Tinubu has also not featured in the radar and data base of the Agency as a person arrested, investigated or prosecuted in connection with drug or other related offences.

While noting that though NDLEA relies on intelligence and information from foreign and domestic partners as well as public spirited individuals, both PDP and Melaye have never for once since the establishment of the Agency in 1990 made or forwarded any complaint, information and/or intelligence on Tinubu or any other person in Nigeria or outside the country relating to illicit activities on drug matters until 17th January 2023.

To further justify the position of the Agency, the litigation officer in the sworn affidavit also made the following submissions:

“That this suit as presently constituted does not confer the Court with jurisdiction.

“That the 1st Applicant does not have locus standi to institute this suit as it does not possess interest peculiar to it and above the interests of all other Nigerians.

“That the only peculiar interest of the 1st Applicant is to get rid of the 6th Respondent as a candidate of a rival political party.

“That the interest of the 1st Applicant is political in nature.

“That the 3rd Respondent is an independent Government Agency that has no political colouration or affiliation.

“That the Court has a duty to insulate the 3rd Respondent from political controversies.

“That the suit is baseless, frivolous and brought in bad faith with the sole aim of achieving a political objective using the instrumentality of the Court process.

“That the facts and circumstances of the case require the Court to apply the doctrine of judicial self-restraint.

“That the 2nd Applicant is not an officer or executive or management committee of the 1st Applicant.

“That the 2nd Applicant has no locus standi to institute this suit as he does not possess any interest peculiar to him and above the interests of all other Nigerians “That an Order of Mandamus is an equitable remedy.

“That the Order of Mandamus must be applied in good faith to promote the public interest.

“That the Order of Mandamus should not produce an indirect or underlying result.

“That he has gone through the supporting judicial proceedings and noted as follows:

“That the matter was a civil forfeiture proceeding in rem brought by the United States of America as plaintiff against certain accounts held in the name of the 6th Respondent.

“That the object of the suit was to forfeit the funds or a certain part thereof in the said accounts as proceeds of illicit traffic in drugs.

“That the suit was not taken out against the person of the 6th Respondent.

“That the suit was not a criminal indictment or charge.

“That the standard of proof in civil forfeiture is based on the balance of probabilities.

“That the standard of proof in a criminal indictment, charges and proceedings is proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

“That the burden of proof in criminal procedure is much higher than that of civil procedure.

“That the Orders of the United States District Court of Illinois delivered by Magistrate Judge John A Nordberg in Suit No.

9C4483 relating to the release of the funds held in Citi Bank N.A. and Citi Bank International which funds were the 2nd and 3rd Defendants in the suit were made “with prejudice”.

“That the Orders of the District Court in the Citibank Accounts places a barrier on any further proceedings relating to the Account.

“That only the Orders relating to the funds held in Heritage Bank where the sum of $460, 000.00 was forfeited was made simpliciter and without a caveat.

“That the Orders made by the US District Court of Illinois were made to incorporate “the stipulation and Compromise Settlement of Claims to the Funds Held by Heritage Bank and Citibank” earlier filed by the parties in Court.

“That the judgment of the US District Court of Illinois put to an end to issues relating to the forfeiture and release of funds as contained in the Settlement Agreement.

“That the cause of action for mandamus requesting the 3rd Respondent to investigate and prosecute the 6th Respondent is founded on the judgment of the District Court of Illinois which has put the matter to rest.

“That the cause of action of the Applicants is dead and legally unsustainable.

“That it is in the interest of justice to dismiss this suit with substantial cost.”

Politics / PDP, LP knock Buhari over comments on 2023 polls by hdaveyork(m): 10:43am On Apr 29, 2023
Opposition political parties have knocked President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, for gloating over what they described as the 2023 electoral heist which is still being challenged at the Presidential Election Tribunal.

National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said President Buhari’s claims that the opposition lost the 2023 general elections due to overconfidence and lack of strategy were not only unfortunate, reckless, and unpresidential but also subjudice.

Ologunagba said this at a press conference, in Abuja, on Friday.

He explained that the President’s comment is already causing apprehension and is capable of destroying Nigeria’s corporate existence as a nation.

The PDP spokesman said, “As you are aware, February 25, 2023, Presidential election has been adjudged across the nation and globally as the worst in the history of our country.

“The Presidential election was marred by brazen violation of the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, INEC Regulations and Guidelines; manipulation of processes, alteration of genuine results from Polling Units, the announcement of fabricated figures and climaxed by the vexatious declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner.

“The general despondency, resentment and anger across our country; the damning reports by election observers and the pervading international contempt against Nigeria since the declaration of the APC candidate as President-elect are ominous testaments that he does not have the mandate of majority of Nigerians derivable only from a credible electoral process.

“Nigerians and the International Community are therefore appalled, horrified and scandalized by the careless, unguarded and subjudice comment by President Buhari in which he attempted to justify the rigging of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election by the APC under his watch.”

Speaking further he said the President’s statement reveals the utter disregard that he has for our constitutional democracy, judiciary and the will of the Nigerian people as expressed at the February 25, 2023 Presidential election.

He said, “It is, to say the least, reprehensible for Mr. President to posture and gloat over the trampling of the will of Nigerians, blame the opposition for being overconfident and, according to him, for not being “tactical”, perhaps enough to outwit the violence, brutality, threats, suppression of voters, rigging and election manipulations by the APC and the government which he heads.

“It is unpardonable that President Buhari, who swore to uphold the laws of our country and made several commitments to the world to ensure free, fair, credible and transparent election, is rather in approval of election rigging through manifest compromise of INEC system and wide-spread alteration, falsification and switching of election results in favour of his rejected party, the APC.

“President Buhari is practically gloating over the undermining of democracy by INEC which refused to transmit directly results from the Polling Units to its Server/Website and announce same, in total violation of the express provisions of Section 64 Sub- section 4 (a) (b) of the Electoral Act, 2022.

Buhari trying to bully judiciary over tribunal cases Ologunagba further said, “It is instructive to state that part of the electoral process is the adjudication by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which is considering petitions arising from the election.

President Buhari, by his subjudice statement is clearly interfering in the electoral process ostensibly to influence the outcome and undermine the constitutionally laid down procedures for change of government.

“Having clearly undermined democracy in Nigeria, the PDP calls on the international community to accordingly impose sanctions including visa bans and travel restrictions on President Buhari and his family immediately he vacates office on May 29, 2023.

Speaking in a similar vein, the Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, said the Buhari Presidency should bury its head in shame for trying to justify a brazen attempt to steal the people’s mandate.

This administration which benefited from a free and fair election in 2015 has failed in all areas of governance. Is our refusal as a party to join the APC in ‘snatching, grabbing and running away with power using violence and intimidation the lack of strategy he is talking about?

“Nigerians are today more divided than any time in our history, farmers can no longer go to their farms because they are being attacked by bandits, the economy is in shambles-Nigeria under Buhari’s watch attained the inglorious position as the world’s poverty capital, yet what he is concerned about is how to defend the indefensible. It’s unfortunate.”

Also, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, described the president’s views as expressed by his Senior Special Assistant (Media), Mallam Garba Shehu, as unpresidential and disturbing.

“He noted that the President’s statement was another desperate attempt by the ruling party to seek validation for the electoral fraud which it now celebrates as a victory.

“Ifoh said, “We want to point it out clearly to President Muhammadu Buhari that his position on the outcome of the said election was untrue, and it is not a true reflection of what played out during the election.

““There are several reasons why opposition political parties lost the 2023 election; the first is that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC snubbed the electoral act wherein it failed to upload the result from the polling unit in real time as promised and in disregard to the laws guiding the election.

The INEC by so doing, created room for that election to be rigged.

““Again, the current APC president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu didn’t win the election, because the said election, particularly, the presidential election was manipulated and rigged beyond comprehension.

““So, political parties didn’t loose election because of overconfidence or complacency as proffered by Mr President, APC in collaboration with the various government agencies simply rigged the election and rigged themselves into power.

““Let me remind Mr President of the magnitude of violence, ballot snuffing, snatching and manipulations of results from the collation centres using security agencies, which included police, army amongst others as well as thugs to manipulate elections in favour of the ruling party.

““Recently, we saw the show of shame that took place in Adamawa. What played out in Adamawa was a microcosm of what played out all over the states during the February 25 and March 18 elections in Nigerian.

““Why the case of Adamawa was given huge publicity and attention because of the involvement of an INEC National commissioner who was a victim, thus forcing INEC to take prompt action.

Impose visa ban on Buhari after
May 29, PDP urges international
community

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday demanded an international travel ban on President Muhammadu Buhari after the May 29 inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

PDP’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, made the call in reaction to Buhari’s comment that PDP and the Labour Party, LP, lost the presidential election due to overconfidence.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, Ologunagba said Buhari was “gloating over the All Progressives Congress, APC, reckless rigging,” while demanding “international sanctions and travel ban after May 29.”

Ologunagba said:
“We have called you up again today to address the unfortunate, reckless, unpresidential conduct and subjudice comment credited to the President, General Muhammadu Buhari which is already causing apprehension and capable of destroying our corporate existence as a Nation.

“As you are aware, the February 25, 2023 Presidential election has been adjudged across the nation and Globally as the worst in the history of our country.

“The Presidential election was marred by brazen violation of the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2023, INEC Regulations and Guidelines; manipulation of processes, alteration of genuine results from Polling Units, announcement of fabricated figures and climaxed by the vexatious declaration of the defeated candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Winner.

“The general despondency, resentment and anger across our country; the damning reports by election observers and the pervading international contempt against Nigeria since the declaration of the APC candidate as President-elect are ominous testaments that he does not have the mandate of majority of Nigerians derivable ONLY from a credible electoral process.

“As you are also aware, the PDP is already at the Tribunal with the prospects of reclaiming the mandate freely given to our Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the Presidential election.”

Tinubu not in sickbed, Orji Kalu insists

The health status of Nigerian President-elect Bola Tinubu has been a topic of much speculation recently, with rumours circulating that he is unwell and receiving medical treatment.

However, Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu has dismissed these claims, stating that Tinubu is not currently in a sick bed. Kalu made these remarks during a celebration of Mass in Abuja to mark his 63rd birthday.

“Our President-elect is not sick,” he stated unequivocally.

“It is not true that he’s sick. I don’t want to say much. He is in good health; he is himself.”

Kalu went on to recount a conversation he had with a colleague about Tinubu’s health.

One of my colleagues said yesterday he heard that the President-elect, Tinubu, was in the hospital,” Kalu explained. “I told him the incoming president was not in the hospital; it is not true that he is in the hospital.

We argued. I told him the President-elect was okay.”

The rumours about Tinubu’s health began to circulate on March 22 when reports claimed that he had been secretly flown out of Nigeria for medical treatment.

Tinubu had reportedly taken ill after months of uninterrupted political campaigning.

However, his media team quickly denied these reports, stating that the President-elect had merely travelled to Paris and London to rest.

Despite these denials, Nigerians continue to speculate about Tinubu’s health and whereabouts.
