Recall that the President-elect, Tinubu had initially forwarded the names of Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Edun to Boss Mustapha to be included as his representatives in the Transition Committee.
Tinubu is expected to be inaugurated as president on May 29, 2023.
The other respondents are the National Secretary, Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim, Clement Ojukwu and Oluchi Opara.
Justice Hamza Muazu of an FCT high court sitting at Maitama has adjourned until May 12 the ruling in a preliminary objection suit filed by the embattled chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure and one other.
They are challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain a matter filed by Martins Esikpali John; Lucky Shaibu; Isah Zekeri; Omogbai Frank; Abokhaiu Aliu; Ayohkaire Lateef; John Elomah and Dr Ayobami Arabambi.
The plaintiffs are seeking the removal of the four respondents through an ex-parte motion, marked M/7082/2023, brought before the court.
NAN reports that Justice Muazu adjourned the matter until May 12 after listening to the submissions of the counsel in the matter.
At the resumed hearing, Counsel for the 1st and 2nd respondents, Alex Ejesieme SAN, informed the court that he filed an application dated April 13.
He said the application is seeking to challenge the jurisdiction of the court to adjudicate in the matter brought before it by the claimants.
He told the court that the plaintiffs invaded LP’s secretariat and vandalized it against the court order.
Ejesieme told the court that since the order was made that his clients have not violated it.
He said he filed a 13-grounds objection urging the court to dismiss the suit.
” Our contention is very clear that those criminal allegations can not be ventilated in an origination summon.
“The issue of locus standi is there when you refer to LP’s constitution, the claimants are not members of NEC nor the party.
“They have a duty to present their membership card to the court which they didn’t.
He added that no certificate of pre-action was filed before the court in fulfilment of order II rules three and eight and that the matter borders on the internal issue of the party according to him.
Counsel for the claimants, George Ibrahim, told the court that the 1st to 4th defendants had yet to obey the April 5 order of the court.
He added that they were still parading themselves as national officers of the LP.
Ibrahim vehemently objected to the preliminary objections of the 1st & 2nd counsel and urged the court to dismiss the preliminary objection.
Justice Muazu had on April 5 issued the restraining order while ruling in the ex-parte application argued by Ogwu Onoja, SAN on behalf of the claimants.
Onoja had in the application informed the court how the sacked national officers allegedly forged several documents of the FCT High Court to carry out unlawful substitutions in the last general elections.
Among the documents are the receipts, seal and affidavits of the Court to carry out alleged criminal activities.
Onoja tendered several documents confirming to the Judge that the Chief Registrar of the Court wrote the Labour Party to disown several documents used for the alleged criminal activities by Abure and three others.
Onoja said following their indictment by a Police investigation, the four people are to be arraigned in court adding that warrants for their arrest have already been obtained.
Justice Muazu held that the application and the supporting affidavits have made out a good case for the request to be granted.
The Judge subsequently ordered the four officers to immediately stop parading themselves as National Officers of the Labour Party.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Thursday, accused the presidency of placing cows above human lives.
Ortom stated this through his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, while reacting to an earlier statement issued by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
The president’s media aide had in a statement issued on Wednesday raised steps the Federal Government had taken to address the insecurity problem in Benue State but was frustrated by the outgoing governor who he said was paying lip service to security and using it to drive his politics in the state.
Shehu said, “Instead, Ortom stubbornly refused to engage with the detailed, holistic approach clearly spelt out by the federal government.
“He arrogantly chose his own destructive path. He blamed the Fulani for every problem that arose. He ignored numerous intelligence reports passed to him for action.
“He rejected police findings into investigations that didn’t meet his egoistical worldview.
He politicised every life lost on his watch.
But Ortom likened the statement of the presidency to making animals urinate in the graves of victims of herdsmen invasion of the state, alleging that the president was indeed responsible for the killings in the state.
“It is an insult to Benue people including those killed and butchered children, the maimed, raped and abused women and the over two million people living under squalid conditions in Nigeria’s largest Internally Displaced Camps in the state.
He said, “The Presidency has shown in this recent public statement that they have placed cows above human lives and made the animals urinate on the graves of those they massacred in Benue and elsewhere across the country.
If not, they wouldn’t have gone to town to mock the slain in their graves.
“The Presidency’s statement is a reckless stab by agents of genocide against the Benue people by blaming the victims.
“The perpetrators are also well known to local and international authorities. Through this recent posturing, everyone is now aware that the perpetrators have the backing and sympathy of the Federal Government.
Ortom stated that the ongoing pogrom in the state was a designed plot by the Fulani against the people of the state to dispossess them of their lands adding that the atrocities were well documented.
On the mockery of PDP and Ortom’s senatorial seat loss, the outgoing governor said that such mockery now strengthens his belief that the massive deployment of security personnel for the elections in the state was planned and hatched in the presidential villa and supervised by agents of the APC.
Ortom who said he had publicly announced his readiness to sacrifice his senatorial seat for equity and justice however said that ‘the 2023 elections were heavily rigged using some security operatives, money, federal might and electronic means.
While describing the presidency’s statement as the ‘height of recklessness and gross insensitivity against the people of Benue’, Ortom said he had always given full cooperation to all layers of security agencies working in the state to help curtail the menace of the Fulani killing squad displacing various communities in the state and other internal security skirmishes.
”Governor Ortom’s decision not to challenge the result of the Benue North West Senatorial election in court again points to the fact that he is not a selfish and desperate politician.
“Between 2015 and this year, Governor Ortom has constantly held security meetings and gathered intelligence to support security agencies operating in the state.
“He has however consistently pointed out that the security agencies are grossly underfunded and deserve to be better equipped and motivated to tackle insecurity in the country.
“It is therefore laughable when Shehu ignorantly tries to whip up an unfounded lie against the Governor,” the statement read in parts.
Discretionary decisions’ — Salihu Lukman writes Adamu, accuses him of flouting APC constitution Salihu Lukman, vice-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the north-west, has accused Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, of highhandedness.
In a letter dated April 19 and addressed to Adamu, Lukman alleged that the APC national chairman is running the affairs of the party in disregard to the party’s constitution.
He claimed that despite numerous letters he wrote to Adamu to convene a meeting of the national working committee (NWC), the APC chairman declined and instead chose to run the party arbitrarily.
“Perhaps, by extension, I can also conclude that given your disposition to run affairs of the party only based on your discretionary decisions without reference to provisions of the APC constitution, your commitment to the party and its electoral viability is weak,” the letter reads.
“Being the national chairman who is respected by party leaders at all levels, it is worrisome that under your leadership, we will be back to the old problems of being unable to respect provisions of our constitution with respect to convening meetings of organs and ensuring that all our organs are allowed to perform their statutory functions as provided in our constitutions.
“It is more worrisome given that you are a lawyer by training, a very experienced politician who had the rare privilege of being a two-term Governor as well as someone who has been operating at the highest level of national politics since the second republic.
By any standard, no one will expect a person of your stature and experience in politics to be taciturn when it comes to managing affairs of the party based on respect for the party’s constitution.”
Salihu further claimed that the APC national chairman has refused to account for the funds raised by NWC from the sale of forms during the party’s presidential primary last year.
“As a member of NWC, we have never had any session where we were invited to consider any report of activity in the last year.
Yet, Article 13.4 (ii) of our constitution requires that the NWC submit quarterly reports to NEC,” said.
We have never deliberated on any financial report even when Article 13.4 (iv) requires that we present quarterly financial reports to NEC. We have never deliberated on a national budget although Article 13.3A(xiv) requires that we present one to NEC and get approval.
“Large-scale financial expenditure is being undertaken without any organ of the party including the NWC allowed to perform any form of statutory due diligence.”
Salihu said Adamu will not be allowed to run the party as a sole proprietorship, adding that compliance with the APC constitution is sacrosanct.
“As a reminder, we are a party that was inspired by President Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu to make every sacrifice to lead the process of changing Nigerian politics.
“If discretionary decisions are allowed to continue to guide the management of the party, self-centred and sectarian approaches to managing elections will take over.
This must be arrested immediately and with the urgency it requires,” he said.
“The only way to do that will be to restore constitutional order within the APC.
Restoring constitutional order within the APC is about returning the APC to its founding vision, which is non-negotiable.“

Zamfara: Tension at INEC’s Gusau zonal office as security operatives threaten to shoot troublemakers
By hdaveyork
One of the APC agents, popularly known as Doctor, sensed that his party had lost in Gusau following the results and he began to make some utterances that offended the security operatives.
There was serious tension at the Gusau zonal office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the agents of the All Progressives Congress, APC, caused serious trouble after the returning officer declared Gusau Local Government result in the rerun election.
The security operatives, therefore, ordered everyone in the hall, including the journalists, to leave as some of them were set to shoot at sight.
However, the leadership of theNigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the State, declared openly that the working journalists in the State would not leave the hall even at gunpoint.
The results were delayed for some hours due to some friction that bred up due to the APC’s failure to capture the Senate and House of Representatives seats in the zone.
DAILY POST reports that even when counting resumed, many journalists were not allowed into the hall by the security operatives.
Lionize: The whole thing is really confusing. Who actually won? The woman? Was it just q case of the right result being declared by the wrong person or, the wrong person declaring the wrong result. If the latter is the case, then the man should be deported to Biafra.
In this article,i takes a long nostalgic trip down memory lane to curate a list of songs that turned a decade in this new year, 2023. Here's a TrendyBeatz curated list of songs that made 2013 a stellar year for the Nigerian music scene.
Rewinding to 2013, when the whole Nigerian Music Industry turned up the heat on the rest of Africa and the world at large. It was undoubtedly a sonically stellar year for the music industry.
At this particular period, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the economy of the country was growing smoothly, the music industry was experiencing an evolution, the Nigerian Filmmaking Industry, Nollywood, ismaking waves, and creative-wise, the country is on the rise.
This particular year witnessed a dawn of hits tracks & evergreen records that will still turn the crowd on whenever it's being played. It was during this period the music industry welcomed top-quality songs and production, well-crafted albums, EPs and Mixtapes.
These bodies of works were chart-topping and timeless projects that got recognised even beyond the demographics.
But is it not crazy how time flies? One moment you're listening to Kcee, trying your best to get over the "Kukere" dance and also trying to master how to move your legs to the "Limpopo" tune to shouting "Sungba" in clubs. It's a solid ten years down the lane, and we can't just stop imagining the top songs that enabled us to achieve those remarkable sonic feats.
Jaiye Jaiye — WIZKID ft Femi Kuti If you didn't play Wizkid's "Jaiye Jaiye" at your party in 2013, it simply wasn't a bubbling party.
Jaiye Jaiye was the definition of an anthemic song. Everybody had to sing along once this song came on. It featured the Afro Beat maestro Femi Kuti, the song of the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Produced by Sarz, the genre of this song isn't the regular party pop or club song. It's a pure Afrobeats genre where Wizkid thanks God and brags about his successful music career. "Lagos today and London tomorrow, Oluwa lo se o, Omo jaiye jaiye Seb'Oluwa lo se oh ah" Wizkid recognised God in his life.
Personally — P-Square Undoubtedly, No artist could have been able to lace these duo shoes if they had not departed to reunite again. When "personally" was released, it became an instant hit. The video of the song gave it even more attention due to the "Micheal Jackson" dance and costumes used in the production. The whole Nigerian played the song, and we can say for a fact that it's one of the biggest hits of their career as a joint artist.
Shoo le - Sean Tizzle. Sean Tizzle is one of the Afrobeats favourites from 2012-2013. After his biggest record, "Loke Loke", which featured 9ice. Shoo le was a masterpiece record that will forever stand the test of time as one of the greatest afro-pop love songs ever released. His songs may not have taken over the top charts in the way that some of the other songs released at that period did, but to those who were familiar with Sean Tizzle's sound, "Shoo Le" was the bop - It's sultry, it's soft, and the lyrics are easy to master.
Eminado — Tiwa Savage In what was probably the biggest song of that year, with production from Don Jazzy, Founder of Mavins Record Label, Tiwa Savage dropped what has gone on to be one of, if not the biggest song of his career. The song's appeal was that it was able to cut through different demographics in Nigeria. "Eminado" was one of the go-to party tracks of the time and the seventh single from her debut studio album titled "Once Upon a Time", which features backup vocals from Don Jazzy, who also doubles as the producer of the song.
Gobe — Davido Gobe is one of the cheerfully poppy singles released by the Afrobeat superstar Davido in 2013. Davido had the world at his feet with this particular track. It was everywhere.
The DJ's favourites in the club and mostly played in events. These were the prime days of Davido when he was known for the tag "On the beat is Davido".
Though it's not debatable that "Dami Duro", his first hit track, solidified his spot as a game-changer and future leader of the Afrobeats genre in Nigeria, we cannot deny that songs like "Gobe" gave him recognition across Africa.
This curated list isn't limited to tracks. We have artists who created albums and stellar projects in 2013.
It was the year Ice prince released his sophomore album titled "Fire Of Zamani", that Olamide and Reminisce delivered indigenous Hip/hop albums that defined theecosystem of Hip/hop music in Nigeria, that Burna Boy released his Afro-fusion-tinged album titled "LIFE" and many others.
This period witnessed the successful advent of Radio, TV, CDs as the go-to medium for playing new music, and also the period where sharing songs via Bluetooth and memory cards on mobile phones reigned supreme, and it was another avenue that made music even more accessible to fans. Ultimately, the year 2013 will not easily be erased from the memory of Nigerian music fans and the entire music industry.
