ttsoft: Hello I'm a newbie in programming, but familiar with python for beginners, also applied for andela cycle 35internship which I'm expecting a test soon. The home study test is in javascript which I have not really learnt. I'm confused, can I start reading now and still pass the test before 22nd? How do I go about it? Please help! Thanks Hey, so, JavaScript and Python are beginner friendly so just look at the homestudy and use free resources such as youtube, codecademy and https://www.w3resource.com/javascript-exercises/ to grasp and practise the basics. To answer your question, if you truly learned the basics in Python, grasping it in javascript is just a matter of learning the syntax (way of writing code in a language). What I am trying to say is, the programming language is a tool, and once you have a solid foundation in the basics, you can learn different language syntax in a matter of weeks. |

Danielbuyner: I think so too but there's no way to change or write a new personality test I think you have to create another or use another email address. |

Danielbuyner: Got my regret mail, I finished my assessment in less than 3 hours and I am pretty confident of all of my answers and I still got a regret mail. Well programming might not be for me. Success to those who made it to the interview stages. The problem may be your personality test. |

Danielbuyner: Please when the invites for the interview for cycle 33 starts coming out please tell me so that I can know where I stand, I think this is my final try in trying to learn programming because I have been learning for over a year and half now and it seems like I am not making any significant progress. And it's worse when you are unemployed. Sorry to hear this, bro. I have been coding for a similar amount of time and I only started to get really better when I worked on the bootcamp exercise I was given. The secret is to build things and have the support system (people with skills) that can help you when you get stuck unless it's frustrating. Pop me an email and let's learn together, if you want, that is. |

benfluleck: So firstly trust me you aren't the only person this has happened to, there are definitely more examples of this that I can't share. So this is me speaking not on behalf of anyone, but I don't think there has been anything introduced that is overly different. However, I can say as Andela has gotten more popular, the standard has shifted or increased as they have had more people apply, which is natural. So you can't expect the pass mark of Andela 21 to be the same now, you might have actually passed the home study assessment however you might not have fallen into the top percentile that might have been selected. There are no hidden tests that I know of, but as I have reiterated the Saber tests are important as well and are also used as a measure to see if you are aligned with our values so my advise would be to take them as seriously as the test. Thanks for your help. I am grateful. |

benfluleck: Hi, first of all starting a post with "still not working" doesn't help us debug a solution for you. Please provide a description of the error that you are getting so we can help you better especially for peeps who are just stumbling on this thread. Running the code on my editor throws no errors, So it is up to you to tell me what the exact nature of the problem is so I and others can help. I have been to bootcamp multiple times, and was even in the last Andela 21 but I can't seem to pass the homestudy test phase that used to be no problem at all. Please, benfluleck, is there anything extra introduced since January. I am frustrated as I have failed it twice now since I started applying in January. The questions are practically the same as last year's so that can't be the problem. Could the Saberr test be the problem? This is baffling and so painful I don't even know where to begin. Did the standard of the tests in the homestudy assessment improve? Have more hidden tests been added? Please help with my inquiry. |

DreManuel: Here is MY theory: those who have gotten "regret" mails may have been screened out automatically by the assessment systems while those who may have made the "cut off marks" are still under review. I don't think HRs have started reviewing the applications yet until the deadline.
So I feel more regret mails will come later when actual reviews begin and selected few proceed.
When I applied in 2014, my application was "under review" for about 3 months after passing all the tests before they served me the so-called Love Letter, and I must confess, it was beautifully crafted.
While I'm not so excited about this new process, I can't afford to be pessimistic too. My hope battery is still fully charged. Very plausible explanation, however, if you remember that these things are computerised and shouldn't take two days to screen people out, you begin to wonder. The personality section of the Shell Graduate Programme of 2015 screened people out immediately. You may still be right, but it's something to consider. |

lifehackmax: Bro, "Regretted" is correct and in that context, it is also overly correct. Check your dictionary again (I assume you checked it upside down). Regret is a verb that means to reject or return something, hence, using the past tense there would be regretted same as returned or rejected.
Cheers I will just leave this Cambridge definition of the word "regret". It does not mention "reject" or "return". I will suggest, for the future, that before you insult someone or make a wise ass remark such as "maybe you checked your dictionary upside down", do some basic research before you make yourself look foolish.

Please who encounter a scenario like mine: during my video interview, after answering question one and two, question three just hook without moving forward to capture my response. Please who know the way forward? amydealeb: Not sure what your talking about bro. There's nothing wrong with the statement grammatically. "Regretted" should have been replaced with "sent a regret mail". "Regretted" sounds off when used in that context, IMO. |

Olawales93: I understand quite alright but it is a major component of this first assessment. Check this out in what shell looks for!
Possibly but I don't think its the cause at this stage. This personality test is by no means exhaustive and conclusive. I believe that one major component of personality tests is honesty. No human can have all those qualities, at least not in that %, imho. I am not sure, but it may come across as dishonest. Everyone has a weakness. |

Fifthcolumnist: Because they do not have the funds for an experienced hire. I noticed something was amiss in the interview when nearly all the questions I was being asked where, "tell us of your past blablabla la..." Sadly for me I only had IT experience and maybe that wasn't enough for them.
Although I furnished answers to all the asked questions, I now feel my lack of working experience in this field may have played against me during their final decision making. This is only a conjuncture though. Spot on! My thoughts exactly. Seems a bit unfair to fresh graduates and people without jobs, but they are only doing what's best for their company. |

omothayur: The Medical Invite is in batches, about 15 - 20 would be called, so let's just relax, pray and let's see as things unfold. Also the only set of people called on Tuesday for availability are those working or engaged at the moment. So, if you told them you are available anytime don't expect any availability call; just expect a medical invite text message. All the best to us all. 15 - 20 in total? or 15 - 20 for each batch of the medical? |

Fifthcolumnist: Assuming that's true, what would he gain from hoarding the news? Even if he's the only selected person, we won't beat him.
And I think Michealbelgium has a point: The apt test was done in batches, the same with the AC and even the interview ( somewhere contacted when even all hope was lost), so there's hope. And one thing I trust FMN for is organisation. I know when they're through with the process, they'll push a regret mail to unsuccessful candidates. So I'm not giving up yet, even though FMN isn't really my only shot, I see it as a reputable place to work in....so it's not over until I see
"Dear candidate, we are sorry..." I am afraid you misunderstood me. He is definitely under no obligation to tell us anything even if he has the information as it is a free country and he can do whatever he likes. I was just commenting on my suspicion. |

opidalo: Yes, today.
Well, it shouldn't seem odd that 'nobody' on here has reported having gotten one if you consider that the number that attended the interviews was about a 100 and they want only a few. I suspect that someone here got the message, but that person is not forthcoming with it. One nairalander called E383 mentioned that calls were coming in and he was asked a follow up question which he didn't answer. I suspect he was called for medicals. |

opidalo: Spot on. Exactly my thoughts since resumption can't be on a weekend.
By the way, what's the CHAT all about?
P.S.: Sadly, regret mails are still very much likely at this point since nobody from the interviews have been rejected yet. SADLY! How many people do you think have received calls? I believe that only the people called were successful, and the only hope those that didn't get called have, is that someone fails a medical or something. This is just my opinion, it should be said. |

opidalo: Spot on. That was exactly my thought since resumption can't be on a weekend.
By the way, what's CHAT all about? I just assumed that there would be a chat based on the application process of some companies such as NBPlc etc. It's usually when the successful candidates are given their offer letters and from what I heard, it's pretty informal. It's like an official welcome. |
