EducationRe: If You Can Solve This Maths, A Financial Institution Should Employ You. by Heisalive:
To start with, let us calculate the savings

savings/month = N2000
Interest/year = 12%
Period = 20 years

savings = N2000 X 12 months X 20years = N480,000.00

Interest for the. period =
N2000. X 0.12 X (239 + 238 + 237 + 236 + .......... + 3 + 2 + 1) ÷ 12 = N573,600.00

Total savings = savings + Interest = N480,000.00 + N573,600.00 = N1,053,600.00
PoliticsRe: Buhari Could Not Fill His Presidency Form . PHOTO by Heisalive: 9:25am On Jan 16, 2015
This is a propaganda of the highest order. Believe me or not Nigerians will never give in to this shit. However, all what PDP is using to buy voters attention are making me to have more affinity for GMB. Because, his credible records with devotion to Nigeria course alone is sufficient.

Let us come to think of it, GEJ has used good six years with nothing to write home about, even during his campaign he can not mention the things he did to boost his chances. Meanwhile, GMB only used less than two years and what he did are still speaking for him after like 29 years.

Back to the allegation at hand, I will categorically tell you that this is not GMB's form. If you doubt it, check the e-mail address (msarkiabba@yahoo.com) and the first phone number (0803 349 8632) they are not for GMB. The owner of the number is Sarki Abba not GMB.
RomanceRe: Does A Beautiful Wife Really Matter In A Long Run? by Heisalive: 8:08am On Jan 09, 2015
Here is my opinion

Beauty >= 60%
Good character >= 80%
Neatness. >= 70%

Sum = 60% + 80% + 70% = 210%
Average = 210% ÷ 3 = 70%

Your woman should be >= 70%

Before you married a lady, you have to assess her very well but remember that there is no perfection in human. The assessment has to be done without bias or self-deceit because all above mentioned features will be needed day-in and day-out.

raid and executive rascality which is
deservable of an acidic excoriation and
corrosive pummeling.The impeachment

Patrick Obahiagbon commenting on the
"show of shame" at the National Assembly
yesterday.
This guy with his grammars, another Prof. Whole Soyinka of our generation. Let me just share my concept of getting Hon. Patrick messages. In English Study, there is a topic called Collocation: are partly or fully fixed expressions that become established through
repeated context-dependent use. Such terms as 'crystal clear', 'middle management',
'nuclear family', and 'cosmetic surgery' are examples of collocated pairs of words.
Now, we will just delete any word with collocation. Let us start:

"The presidential invasion of the National Assembly which was executed by its inspector general of police had all the trappings of raid and rascality which deserves excoriation and pummel.The impeachment gambit is a potency for an erebus prone whirligig".

I don try reduce the grammatical commotion. I hope it makes sense. This man na bado.

waooooooooooh! This year has less than 4hrs to come to an end. Father, I praise you for what you have done for me, my family, friends, enemies, colleagues, contemporaries, well wishers, Nigerians, our leaders: His excellency, GEJ, my governor: SAN, BRF, my pastors, Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. I pray that your dominion shall have no bound IJN. I pray that your word will be a light to my path and a lamp to feet in year 2014. You shall be my portion in the land of the living. Your goodness, grace and mercies shall you honour me with for the rest of my life. I pray for showers of blessings upon me, my family, my well wishers, my enemies and Nigeria. I will chase, possess and overtake IJN. I shall be a source of blessing IJN. I will not trade fruit of the spirit for earthly reward IJN.
Just say Amen if you wish the same for yourself. I wish you break-through in year 2014.
As for me and my house hold, we will serve the Lord............................hmmm............................how about you.

Quodragoals: @He is alive; I think at our various RTC's let's try and get a rep. there from there all members will join and its this reps. that will validate each member of the forum that belongs to their RTC.
Quodragoals, I like your motive. I don't have any problem with a possible suggestion in as much you are ready to champion the course. Believe me, I will be part if it is going to profit us all. Plz, know that everyone will do it means nobody will do it. And again, someone will do it means everyone will not do it. Here are challenge with your suggestion:
1. Who will represent each RTC
2. How would you collate the email addresses
3. What would you do with the addresses
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 1:19pm On Dec 29, 2013
Tomoarika: @He is Alive, u failed to address my point abt wat happens if the email address u provided is hacked.

Like I said I'm not comfortable with the idea of sending appointment letters to an email addy. Information security is something I take very serious.

I understand dat the privacy of the group is important because we might be exposed to sensitive info which we cannot divulge to d public.

Also different levels (officersI-IV) may be exposed to different levels of sensitive info, which was why I asked if d group wud be open to all levels.

I also think dat a new thread could be created in the (less popular) career section of nairaland (for instance "Power Transmission Engineers' corner" as someone suggested) where we could still relate wit fellow engineers and others.
Most of us are greenhorns and will need all d help we can get from pple esp d more experienced engrs arnd here.

Finally I think u shd hav continued fine-tuning d system and deliberated it here before u concluded on the rules.

All in all, it's a good initiative. Best of luck.

Regards
Thanks a lot.

This is it my friend, if you take too much time in analysing a problem, you will end up in paralysis. If you take too much time in preparing to take a step you will never take that step. I think that answers why I didn't wait for too long deliberation by the house. However, it doesn't mean that I didn't give room for deliberation. The train is moving we can still add water and coal. If you have a solution, provide it and we will adopt it.

Capt. JH Miller:
I don't get? Why do you guys want to seclude yourselves? Why don't you want to share info with other people? Mind you at the beginning of this thread we were all same, and had one objective, to come share ideas and gather as much information from here as possible.. as it may be some of us have been blessed and have become greedy and forgotten how they started.
I didn't apply, wasn't eligible at the time, but hoping to apply for the next batch, that's when I come here to get info, but as it seems, the human nature has taken over.
God is with us.. He that did it for you guys will do it for us. Best of luck guys
We are not completely leaving this forum. The forum we are talking of is just for the new intake.

wallex1983: I still don't support this idea of appointment letter. In a matter of days, most pple will be in different RTCs and it wld be easy to get Email addresses. For me, for now, if its †ђξ appointment letter that will disqualify me for now, I don't mind. However, you have a very nice concept
Please could you tell me possible things that someone might likely do with the appointment letter. I don't have iota of what someone can do with the appointment letter, as the members have a copy of their own, may be that is why I don't see anything wrong with it.

Please, if you have a better way to go about it make it known and if it is still the email, elaborate its feasibility.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 7:58am On Dec 29, 2013
Quodragoals: don't u think there will be treat to personal info as regards appointment letter.
Bro, I don't think so as the content of the appointment letter are your names, address and reference. All we need among them all is your name and it must tally with your LinkedIn account name. You see, only members can see your appointment letter to approve your membership except you guys want me to be the sole determiner of members.

Anyway, people have started joining. I will like to remind those who have shown interest on LinkedIn without sending their appointment letter to the given mail as evidence of being TCN engineer will not be approved. Thank you.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 9:54pm On Dec 28, 2013
To join the group/forum, here are the steps to be taken:

1. Intending member will scan/snap and send his/her appointment letter to brilliantnigerian@gmail.com

2. Secondly, he/she will create account with linkedin (I.e if the person does not has linkedin Account) and then join the group named POWER SYSTEM ENGINEERING (TCN)

3. Lastly, the intending member will wait for the approval of his/her membership by older members who have the password to the brilliantnigerian@gmail.com
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 5:13pm On Dec 28, 2013
Fritz007: nice one there...and another suggestion is creating a closed TCN group on Facebook that would be easier to me both to monitor and access members.
I think linkedin is better because it is designed for professionals while Facebook is for socialization. What this implies is this, we could easily get help from experts, both local and international, on linkedin than Facebook.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 5:03pm On Dec 28, 2013
Tomoarika: @HeisAlive this is a good initiative.

Emeth raised some good points esp as regards confidentiality.
I find the scanning one's admission letter a little bit uncomfortable. Why? For security reasons. What happens if the email account is hacked and the hackers have access to our details?

Also, will the group be open to all levels ie officers I-IV?

Keep fine-tuning the idea. Good job sir.

A group on LinkedIn is ok wit me.
It is for all levels.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 5:01pm On Dec 28, 2013
netotse: Pardon me, are you implying that people that arent imployed by TCN dont have any information or technical knowhow you guys might find useful?

Take my advice for it, you would be better served opening a new thread on NL and naming it 'transmission engineers corner' or something...the best engineers are those that freely share knowledge.
Bro, this idea is not to underestimate anybody's ability! here is our challenge on this forum: we found out that this forum is too open for some miscreants to come in, feed us with false information and, as well, wish us bad.

However, what you said is right. Yes, We need help, we need someone who would guide us right i.e. an expert with wealth of knowledge. But we don't need to wait for a Messiah passing by on nairaland before our challenges would be solved as there are a lot of experts on linkedin both local and international that we can invite to our group/forum to give us the master touch. Already, I have joined some groups but the level at which the members are operating is far beyond mine.

Through this, we would create more discussions ( as we are facing challenges in our various offices) that would be of great benefits to us all. On these points, I believe our coming together under control platform with guidance of an expert would make us formidable.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Heisalive: 10:32pm On Dec 27, 2013
Emeth: my brother I do commend your effort in creating the forum... But nonetheless, there is no sure way of vetting individuals who are employed at TCN or not, which implies that the idea behind the creation of the forum has been defeated! The only thing I can think of that is remotely close to a solution, will involve coming up with a formula that involves NAPTIN admission as a criteria... But there is an instant hiccup, ie, reluctance to divulge personal and sensitive info.. Will love to be proved wrong sha..
Thanks a lot Emeth. You see, I have been making research lately and I discovered that for an engineer to be successful, he/she needs to be informed.

As regard the modalities that will not affect individuals' personality, please consider these steps:

1. I will create an E-mail Account that is not traceable to me.

2. I will make the E-mail address and group/forum name available to nairalanders.

3. But the password will only be available to the members of the forum to assess the TCN appointment letter of the intending member.

4. To join the forum there are three obligations to be fulfilled:

(a) intending member will scan/snap and send his/her appointment letter to the given E-mail address.

(b) secondly, he/she will create account with linkedin (I.e if the person does not has linkedin Account) and then join the group/forum.

(c) lastly, the intending member will wait for the approval of his/her membership by older members who have the password to the E-mail Account.

Good morning everybody. As we draw closer to our resumption day, I found out that it is very essential to have a secure forum PURELY FOR THE APPOINTED ENGINEERS by TCN where sincere information and technical know-how would be exchanged by the members: which some people had clamored for in the past.

Here it is, I have created the forum, but I need the house to deliberate on the modalities of accepting new members.
