PhonesRe: I I Switched From Android Phone To Iphone: An Android User's Point Of View (andr by henchyk(m): 8:34am On Feb 06, 2022
I can relate. So in July last year I decided to switch to iPhone due to what I'll describe basically as peer pressure. It's not the first time I was using an iPhone but for a couple of years now I've been using the Samsung a70 and it served me beautifully. But switch to iPhone I did and it's s been on roller-coaster of hell to another. I first bought the iPhone 11 London used. Later I discovered that the screen wasn't original. Took it back, after much argument I was able to exchange it with additional funds for an XsMax which was supposedly new, it was in a sealed pack and all. I later discovered that it wasn't new tho and that it was a common market tactic. I was decieved and I wasn't happy because I bought it for the price of a new one. Well I didn't want anything to disturb my peace so I decided to just keep using it, it wasn't a life and death something.

Long story short. I have changed the screen of this phone twice in 3 months. First time it was charging and just went blank showing all green. The second time though it was my fault. It fell from my hands and a small crack on the screen eventually spread ink to everyother part of the screen and ended up blinding the phone. Both times I changed the screen for 65k. That's 130k. A phone I bought new for 430k essentially.

But this isn't why I had to go buy a Samsung a72 last week though. I bought it because I finally found out that the iPhone is an overhyped phone. The only thing going for it is the camera. Its boring, it's bland, it gives the user little to no freedom to actually do important things with their phone, it's not near as customizable as an android, I can go on and on. So I got bored with it and walked into a store the other day and got an a72. All my friends on imessage are wondering why I did that but I thank God that I'm over the peer pressure. It's my satisfaction first now. The XsMax is resting in my bag somewhere sha so anytime I feel like using an iPhone for a few days, I'll pick it up.

As far as I'm concerned, a good android phone is a better device than any iPhone.

Dearies,
I am resident in the US and I want to open a non resident account AKA diaspora account(personal account)
Please which bank is best at online banking in Nigeria?I will use it mainly for online transfers within Nigeria and occasionally ourside Nigeria .
Please guide me, I am tired of my money entering voicemail from relatives.
Thank you
5 years ago I wouldn't have given you the answer I'm about to give you now but go for Union Bank.

Their online banking services are about the best you can get in the country presently. Don't argue, just try and see for yourself.

In addition to that, they have probably the best looking branches across the country, one of the best customer service I've seen and their new Elite Banking package is revolutionary.

All this is a rather long way of telling you Union Bank might be the solution to your problems but of course there are other good banks in Nigeria.

Advice me on the phone to buy, am tire of android phone, especially all these China medtek phone not that they are bad, I just wanted to change OS but am eyeing Samsung phone too because have never use Samsung android phone, so am juxtaposing Samsung Galaxy or iPhone 5,fairly used o, no money for new one.

Note am using infinix hot 2 tired of it.
Lol if you're tired of Infinix hot 2 then you're tired of Android because that's about the purest Android you'll ever get. Hot 2 runs the latest version of Android.

Just go get an iPhone then if you've got the cash because Samsung is still android. Although I prefer the Android to the iOS any day of the week.

yes the bug has been fixed it didn't take long before it got to 100% from 88% it went up normally
Are you sure bro? Your phone no longer stops charging at 88% and even when you force charge it, it doesn't rush to 100% and then starts draining down like a leaking Geepee tank? Because I'm really tired of the battery bug.

Keep trying because for June there's no flashable update yet. You need to have a strong Internet connection otherwise it would no pick up quickly. Just keep trying...or use WiFi or wait till the said date.

No harm in trying.

July update did not fix the battery calibration bug. The update is more of security fixes and patches.
Thanks man. I kept trying, and guess what, it worked. I've updated both for June and July, but I'm somewhat disappointed to hear that the battery bug wasn't fixed. I'll charge my battery up and check for myself though.

Once again thanks man, your method worked. You've been of immense help.

negga4al:
Yes, exactly. Because it gets updated immediately your mobile data comes on.

To work around this, you have to be smart and fast. Here is how I beat my "smart"phone cheesy

First, put off your data. Turn on airplane mode, then turn it on again but do not put data on. As usual disable automatic time update, put off network time. Set it to the future date.

After setting the date, go to about phone, then system updates. While here, pull down quick settings, and toggle data on. Immediately, tap restart/retry update keep tapping till it picks. You have to be very fast between turning your data on and tapping restart update because you have a split second before the date reverses to the correct one

Repeat the process from beginning if it reverses (when it brings the "wait till such a date or use WiFi" message).

Hope this helps otherwise follow my previous post.

Cheers!
Tried it and it didn't work for me. No qualms though. Please does anyone have a link to the June OTA update so I can do a manual update through recovery using adb? I've checked on XDA and they have all the OTAs except that of June. And I can't update July without first updating June.

I'm a bit desperate because I'm hearing that the July update fixed the annoying hot 2 battery bug. I don't know how true. Please someone should confirm this.

Bros, ever since I upgraded to marshmallow my battery has been acting really weird. Sometimes it will be discharging instead, other times it will charge up to 88 percent and then stops there for a long time before charging quickly to 100 percent but then discharges quickly also. Pls, is there any solution?
No solution and trust me, I have tried everything. There is nothing I haven't done to fix that problem, it just can't be fixed. Let's hope one of the future updates will fix it.

Your phone is most likely faulty. It's not a software problem it's a hardware problem so either take it to a phone engineer or return it. I'm sure it should have a warranty.

Pls how did you downgrade to lollipop, will you lose all the content of ur phone when u downgraded?
Yes you'll lose everything you didn't back up, except they're on your SD card, and the SD card isn't formatted as internal memory.

I downgraded by flashing the android one lollipop rom using Infinix flash tool on my pc. It's a pretty straightforward process. You'll then have to install the small ota updates after flashing to get it up to December build.
PhonesRe: Infinix HOT 2 (x510) Official Thread by henchyk(m): 9:02pm On Feb 03, 2016
Mahn I tried to be patient but it turned out I ran out of it. The marshmallow bugs got unbearable for me today and I just couldn't take it anymore. The most annoying bug is this one where you can't even end a Call after you finish making one. You can even go to the kitchen and comfortably cook indomie and come out and your phone still haven't brought up the screen to end the call. It was annoying. Another annoying bug was this one where the battery loses calibration and runs from 100 percent to 60 percent in 10 mins, then stays on 60 percent for 30mins then runs to 25 percent in 5 mins. It was behaving like a mad man and I just couldn't deal anymore.

The idea was to exercise some patience until a marshmallow update that will fix these bugs is released but Mahn I've been living in torture. Long story short I downgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1 today sha and I've never been happier. Whenever they fix those annoying bugs, I'll go back to Marshmallow but as for now ladies and gentlemen, I literally cannot deal.
PhonesRe: Infinix zero discussion thread! by henchyk(m): 9:06pm On May 18, 2015
I see infinix zero complaints everywhere here and I'm just wondering if it's the same infinix zero I have. My zero hasn't given me a single problem since I bought it last year and Lord knows I use it roughly. I think this many complaints thing we observe on here is a statistical phenomenon.

Let me explain; so many people own an infinix zero. Too many people bought the phone and it's only normal that a percentage of this population will have issues with their phones. It just happens that this percentage, although a relatively small percentage, happens to be a large number of people because like I said before, too many people own an infinix zero.

Another thing worthy of note is that people who don't have any problems with their phones will hardly come here to talk about it. They will just keep using their phones. It's mostly only people who have issues with their phones that will come and post about it.

A combination of these two factors should make it clear to you why it seems like there are too many infinix zero complaints. You actually have to look beneath the surface, like I just explained, to understand the dynamics at play here. Infinix zero is a wonderful phone. Worth every penny I payed for it. So the next time someone comes and tell you infinix zero is a useless phone, remember the explanation I just gave. A vast majority of people are using their infinix zeros without issues and in peace but of course they wont come here to tell you that because there's no need to. You only need to post about your phone when you're having an issue with it.

Hope this somehow helps.

Bro, pls give me steps on how to Root my 16gb infinix zero, or u could give me a link where I can read the steps.. Thanks in advance
It used to be hard to root the phone before now, we had to resort to flashing in superuser using Cwm. But now it's as easy as downloading an app called kingroot and running it with your Internet on. The link to download kingroot are all over the forum or you can just search for kingroot apk on Google.

Which app did u use to root your Infinix Zero? I used Root Genius
Oh I flashed superuser using Cwm. What I did when I wanted to update was to flash back stock recovery, update, then flash back superuser using Cwm.

I will like to correct some misconceptions about the infinix zero ota update. The infinix zero update will not brick ur device even if u're rooted. It will or may only brick ur device if uv flashed a custom recovery like clockworkmod recovery or twrmp recovery and the likes. So to update ur zero if u're rooted or changed imei does not brick ur device. only if u have a custom recovery do u have a chance of brickin ur device. And if u wana update ur zero and u have a custom recovery, just flash back the stock recovery (the recovery that came with the fone). If u wana follow this tutorial am assuming u have basic knowledge about stock recovery, custom recovery, flashing updates, rooting and unrooting
Well I had rooted my device by flashing cwm and then tried to update but my phone didn't get bricked. It just failed to update. I actually tried this about 20 times before I finally learned I had to flash back stock recovery first. And all the while nothing happened to my phone. So what I'm saying is that having cwm recovery didn't brick my phone when I tried to update.
PhonesRe: Infinix zero discussion thread! by henchyk(m): 3:29pm On Jan 23, 2015
GabrielShaze:
If you try to update your Infinix Zero after rooting it, it will get BRICKED. If you really want to apply an update Im guessing u could either update and root later or unroot it before applying an update.
It will not necessarily get bricked. Most times it will just tell you update failed. It has happened to me. I had rooted my device earlier and tried to update it, it only kept showing an emc or something error as it tired to update in the recovery but when I rebooted my phone it boots.
So updating your device after rooting does not necessarily brick it. Most times it just prevents it from updating.

Well I bought the Poweramp player and I listen to music with it. Poweramp amplifies the sound, you won't even notice any difference with the sound of an iPhone provided you use a good earpiece. So my solution for you is to get Poweramp and tweak the equalizer settings a bit. It's easy.

i rooted before i updated my fone and it did not brick the fone, it only refused to install @ recovery stage until i installed custom recovery,
You mean until you installed stock recovery? Custom recovery is the Cwm you actually used to root your device so I'm assuming you meant stock recovery, which is the recovery which originally came with the device.
BusinessRe: Crude Oil Price In Further 5.6% Fall by henchyk(m): 9:31pm On Jan 12, 2015
To be very honest, if you are an intelligent person you will have come to the conclusion by now that Oil has done more harm to this country than good. Which really is a pity because the wealth that came from oil if managed well would have made this country a global power by now. It's just sad that our nation has been perennially cursed with uber-greedy and heartless leaders in power. They're so greedy that it actually does not make sense anymore. Stealing wealth that even your 10th generations can't exhaust. It's the kind of stealing that you simply associate with illiteracy but yet Alot of these people claim they're educated. It makes me very sad when I think about it.

What oil did for us was to bring out in full force the greedy nature of Nigerians. This thing is particularly peculiar to Nigeria. Other countries in similar or even worse situations than us decades of years ago are now well ahead of us because their leaders where sensible enough to put national interest before personal interest. It's quite possible that those leaders themselves stole money but at least they didn't steal like fools. Now their countries are well ahead of us economically while we remain here bearing the title of Giant of Africa. My people used to say it is the big title/name that ends up killing the dog.

I think oil needs to be permanently devalued. Because all the while oil had been like gold, we the ordinary masses of this country didn't reap any dividends. So why should I be sad that oil is going down. If anything, it's good news. It means these evil politicians sooner or later won't see anything to steal again and then they'll leave political offices for people who actually have the interest of this country at heart to contest. That's my prayer.
BusinessRe: Crude Oil Price In Further 5.6% Fall by henchyk(m): 9:20pm On Jan 12, 2015
How exactly does Buhari intend to stabilize global oil prices? OK let me be serious, has Buhari outlined any plans so far of how he intends to fix this Nigeria's oil-resultant miasma? Let me tell you something, a leader who does not have a plan before he attains a position of power will not have a plan when he gets there. You can't fix a country like Nigeria with trial and error strategy you actually need to have a well mapped out plan. Just because GEJ is so clueless (he's actually very clueless) and Buhari is famed for his military styled crackdown on what he called corruption in the 80s doesn't mean Buhari will make a better leader than GEJ. Infact I've looked at this situation critically and I've discovered it's going to be a lose-lose scenario for this country come February. Both candidates are just not what this country needs. GEJ is corrupt and inept while Buhari himself actually has no laid down plans of fixing this country. I hate to say this but Atiku had an articulate and well documented plan of fixing this country but it's a pity he didn't scale through the primaries. I'm not saying Atiku would have made a better leader, nah, I don't even trust the man. What I'm saying is that if you (Buhari in this instance) claim to be the answer to this country's woes then show it. Don't go exchanging words with your opponent of accusations and counter-accusations. Focus on the real thing which is actually trying to prove to the people you're trying to lead that you're the right one. Because right now a lot of us neutral stakeholders simply see this nation as being between the devil and the deep blue sea.

It's a general problem and it's from the camera app. Just download a replacement camera app like Cymera from playstore to use.

I can download the update but when I try to update it will abort and say Emmc boot error
I doubt if clearing the update and starting again will help you. This happened to me and I finally got to update my phone so let me help you here. My guess is that your phone is rooted and that it was done by flashing cwm and super user over the computer. The infinix zero update does not work with cwm. So what I did was to flash my phone with recovery img (which someone was kind enough to post here, it's just 10mb) using Rashr app i downloaded from playstore. After doing that, it wipes the cwm and goes back to the original stock recovery and then you can update your phone. After updating, you can now reroot your phone using whatever method you want. But if you root with cwm again be rest assured that you will need to repeat this process again whenever a new Infinix Zero update comes out. Hope this helps.

Then I read somewhere that if your phone falls down, the camera stuff inside may shift and cause the same thing I was experiencing and I remembered my phone fell down sometime. Took the phone to a phone repairer who opened it (I couldn't dare opening it myself) and he just fixed back the camera lens and padded it and viola!
