PhonesRe: Infinix zero discussion thread! by henchyk(m):
A lot of people displaying petty hatred over a quite decent device, I don't understand it. This phone goes for just 24 000 naira, has an octa core processor, a 2 gig ram space and an almost unlimited app storage space. Go ask Tecno users how much they're suffering due to the meager app space Tecno offers.

Yes the phone has a well documented list of issues, hell, my camera isn't even working anymore after I updated the phone but I never for one day regret buying this device. For its price, it's a steal. About the hotness you experience, it's quite common with most devices. Especially when you try to play all sort of HD games on it while running 3G with your WiFi and tethering on. Why won't your phone get hot? It's a 1.4ghz octa core processor for crying out loud so they can't use any thing more than a 2000mah battery except you want your phone to melt out of hotness. There's always a trade. If you're going to enjoy the sleekness and efficiency of this processor then the hotness is a little price to pay. Besides I heard the 9mb update really tried to lessen the hotness thing. You want to have a perfectly complete phone for 24000? Lol you are dreaming. Even the iPhone 6 that is 240k still has its issues. Some people complain it bends in their pocket. No phone is complete, you managed to get a device of this caliber at that price range and you're still complaining? My friend you should be greatful to infinix. If the battery life and hotness bothers you a lot, go buy a Samsung s5. And as for the infinix battery complains, putting my phone on edge and using the greenify app to automatically hibernate background apps have worked wonders. There are also simple android tricks you can use to conserve battery.

For me, infinix deserves credit for this device.
PhonesRe: Infinix zero discussion thread! by henchyk(m): 5:57pm On Dec 17, 2014
Any other zero user having problems with the camera? Mine hangs and keeps showing a black screen when ever I open it. All the apps that use the camera are not working, eg Skype. Some forums online suggested it was a software or app glitch and that a hard reset or factory reset would fix it, I did everything yet no show. Even factory reset my phone. Sigh.

Sometimes the camera actually shows up and freezes up after a while. And when it does even the touch app won't work. I've cleared cache and I've done everything. There's a system update I haven't been able to download though. The 9.5mb update. Could it be what's causing this? Can someone help me upload the update? it's not that large. And my camera was working fine before I updated the 77mb update too. I don't know what else to do. Could it be a hardware problem?
PhonesRe: Infinix zero discussion thread! by henchyk(m): 3:04pm On Dec 16, 2014
Hey people. Got the infinix zero phone two weeks ago and I'll say so far not so bad. The battery life is obviously a problem but putting the phone on Edge and using the greenify app seems to help. I previously rooted the device and then the update came. Had to uproot and flash with recovery before I could update my device, although I still don't know the point of the update, nothing changed. Still can't even change my lockscreen wallpaper. Now I can't even root my phone back again so using greenify is a problem.

I also heard about the 9.5mb update but my phone keeps telling me I have the latest update, please how can I get the new update? Help if you can.

Also this morning I noticed something potentially problematic. My camera refused to come on again. Each time I click on the app it shows black and freezes the device until the non responding dialog box appears and then I force close. Any other person experiencing the same thing? Tried rebooting my device and for the first few seconds after rebooting, the camera works and then hangs.
PhonesRe: Have Anyone Successfully Guessed A Recharge Card Pin before? by henchyk(m): 12:59pm On Jan 08, 2014
kuluTemper: It is very possible, if not the network will not need to block your ability to recharge after three trails. The experience I had was with the good old NITEL mobile lines. what I did then was to keep all the recharge cards I have ever used and whenever I want to recharge I intuitively retry my used cards and on the third attempt load the new card I just bought. I can tell you that I was able to get a recharge on the old cards like two or three times. Don't ask me how that was possible but with NITEL anything can be possible, It worked then and NITEL was like the cheapest mobile line to use then so I really used it a lot.
We are not talking of network/system/server loopholes here, we are talking about the chances of correctly guessing the entire digits in a random recharge card pin that exists out there. My brother, if it's this one, its almost impossible. Someone just did the math and got a chance in a trillion. If that isn't impossibility, I don't know what is.
PhonesRe: Have Anyone Successfully Guessed A Recharge Card Pin before? by henchyk(m): 12:16pm On Jan 08, 2014
It is a statistical and mathematical impossibility. Or rather let me say that it is very unlikely for anyone to correctly GUESS an entire recharge card number from first to last digit. Nah.
RomanceRe: Pleas Help!!! My Sister Husband Is Asking Me Out by henchyk(m): 12:04pm On Jan 08, 2014
These people asking you to sleep with the man or remain in the house while your sister is away are just muppets and you will be really foolish to listen to them. This is a very delicate situation and a potentially destructive one too so you will need all the wisdom in the world to handle it.

My advice will be to tell your sister plainly and prepare for the possibility of leaving the house for good. You can also tell someone very close to you, your mother or aunt or someone. You also have to be very firm with the man. Give him a firm NO and threaten to report him to his wife. If he persists then tell his wife for God's sake. She's your sister and believe me when I tell you she already knows the kind of man she married. In fact I'm ready to bet that she already suspects her husband is making advances at you.

You also have to make sure you have no faults or loopholes from your own end. Let me assume that you always dress decently and conduct yourself well around the house. If you don't then you are going to have a problem with all of this. And let me also assume that you have a pure heart and are a Godly person. You can pray about it all and leave it to God.

All in all its a dicey situation and like I said, you need divine wisdom and courage. And please whatever you do, never ever agree to sleep with your sister's husband, because all you will end up doing is open a dreadful can of worms. That's when the real trouble will start and trust me, it will last a lifetime.

God help you my dear.

Etisalat BIS working on android? Please you people should be serious.
PhonesRe: Airtel BIS To Stop Working On Non BB Devices by henchyk(m): 7:43am On Dec 01, 2013
The crowd had slowed down Airtel's network miserably the past few months and i don't blame them because their network used to be the fastest before this bb on android thing came up and probably will become the fastest again after the 3rd of December when they flush us all out. Seems like Airtel is finally willing to sacrifice quantity for quality and i think the decision is the best for them in the long-term.

Its just that the whole thing isn't funny to us android users in an economical challenging country. The network providers are also not making things easy for us with their outrageous internet prices. Data is going to be like gold from now onwards. No more spending hours on instagram and YouTube. No more downloading movies and series anyhow your papa na dangote? No more playing around on the internet and infact i think this decision will help a lot of students and other people like me who were practically on the verge of making the internet our second home. Data connot waste.

But i have a feeling internet prices will come down soon. This dreadful condition just can't possibly linger for to long. For now we just need to manage. And btw after the 3rd im still going to keep my airtel sims and subscribe with them, because their speed will be jet-like after that date, and their normal internet plans are still a bit cheaper than those of other networks.

Nothing lasts forever.

At times it's to our own advantage to be realistic, and a lot of us here are not being realistic or are tying to avoid acknowledging the truth. This period now is the time the Ogas at the top go about their businesses of adding and removing names from the list. It's not the marking delaying anything. The test scores themselves have absolutely nothing to do with who will make the list or not. It all depends on your godfather or God. So please know the problem first before you post. I already told you all before now that this coming list will never be based on merit, considering how the exam was. Just pray that somehow, your name will appear in the list. But also remember that a state like Imo had about 8000 candidates and only 30 will be shortlisted.

It is well tho.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Airforce Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 2013 by henchyk(m): 7:10am On Oct 31, 2013
Trust me when I say nobody will be chosen on the basis of performance in the test. I mean, that one is clearer than a shallow stream. From what happened in Ph I can comfortably tell you that a lot of people will score 50/50. So test performance is not a criteria here. Just pray your Oga at the top succeeds in smuggling your name into the list. And for those of us who have no Oga at the top but God, we are praying for a miracle but to be frank, I'm not holding my breath.

Gamuguma: Am sorry to say this, u be big f.ool. I guess u av forgotten this sayin...''No man is an Island.'' liverpool slogan-- never work alone-- didn't occur to u that the test coordination is nt normally distributed? u dnt knw all the current affairs, u nid to share ur ideas wif pple of ur calibre so u can pass together. If u didn't cooperate, others will. So who will loose?Egoist!
Can you even listen to yourself? Share together? Pass together? Are you still under the illusion that this test is meant to be like the examinations you have unfortunately been subjected to in the university, polytechnic, or wherever it is you graduated from? My friend this is a competitive test, or at least, it was supposed to be. It's not in your best interest to tell anyone anything because you actually do not pass together. Only the best will scale through. So please allow people who know what they are saying to talk. The mere fact that the officials allowed every imaginable kind of malpractice to take place only goes to tell any reasonable person that this exam was a sham. It was a complete waste of time, I'm Sorry to say. God will judge everybody tho.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Nigerian Airforce Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 2013 by henchyk(m): 1:32pm On Oct 24, 2013
Just finished from the Port Harcourt center and I must say this is the worst examination in the history of examinations. Zero transparency. People were allowed and encouraged by the officials to go about asking and getting answers. I was so disappointed. It was obvious to me after the test that the whole exercise had been a sham. A cover-up. Fulfillment of all righteousness. Imagine an examination where about 80% of the candidates will score at least 45/50. It's crazy. Even the outright illiterates too, because they got virtually all the answers from people who knew what they were doing. Then what criteria will the NAF now use to shortlist? It's very annoying. If I had known this test would be this nonsensical, I wouldn't had bothered to travel Down to Ph or even to waste so much money on this venture. Merit is entirely out of the question here. I heard the navy exam was much more organized and intensive, and now I'm pissed for not applying for the navy. I'm gutted. Utterly gutted.

Brethren, it is not of he that readeth past questions. What you don't know, you don't know. These type of tests are not things you learn overnight. The only thing you can effectively do now is revise, not learn. I'm not trying to scare anyone tho. God can do anything.

@mimzy and @gambudu please folks I have a question. Will it be too late if I attend the exercise on Monday 21st? Pls I need urgent response. I can't make it to the place this week because of my job. I am writing in Ph and my state of Origin is Imo.

And please is there anyone here writing in Ph who is going on Thursday? Can you please drop your number, twitter handle, or Facebook name so I can get in touch with you on Thursday and Friday for information? Please I'm begging.

God bless you.

Femlakers: can someone pleas tell me why I wasn't shortlisted, I studied philosophy chose mass comm and journalism as my area of specialty,Buh wasn't shortlisted, whereas my friend dat studied English was shortlisted user d same department, why?
I think this is a question for the gods to answer. Maybe we should ask them.

Meanwhile, I got the text to come for the enlistment exercise, but I'm still a bit skeptical because I don't want to go there and be turned down because of this exact discipline thingy as I studied Geology but applied under Geography as Geology wasn't listed. I want to believe that they should have seen this before sending me the text to come.

Another thing i need to know is if we are going to stay in PH (or wherever your zonal base is) for the entire period between 17th and 26th. Because if this is going to be the case then it will be serious trouble for me, considering I have a job already and I cannot possibly be given an 8-day permission to leave work. I just hope that would sort itself out. And is it only me or are the NAF being inconclusive about information regarding this exercise? Like they are supposed to release exact dates and what is actually expected of us, instead of leaving us to source for information from 3rd parties. They should give us detailed information about this exercise please.

Btw I'm writing in port Harcourt so anyone also having their screening in port harcourt should please get in touch with me so we know how to get this thing done.

God bless you all.

Listen man, the earlier you start working on your arrogance and "i-know-everything" attitude, the better for you and also your destiny by extension.

I have been reading your posts and replies for quite some time now and it's all kinds of petty and disgusting to say the least. You, always striving so hard to appear well educated and learned only serves to showcase to the world your arrogance and immaturity.

The essence of posting on Nairaland is not necessarily to write spotless and immaculate English, it is to communicate. Small-minded people like you who only come on here to prove you can speak good English and other people cannot are not even remotely important in the scheme of things. You cannot light your candle by blowing off other people's candles. You need to change Mr. You need to help yourself. The fact that everyone is complaining about you only proves there is something seriously wrong with you.

Good day.

Come, what is really happening with the Nigerian Army and their recruitment? It's running into the 5th month now still no show. Not even any news as regards the exercise. Only speculation by random people who claim to have inside information. I'm just tired of the entire thing. Or maybe there has been some information and I just don't know about it. Please nairalanders reading this should help tell me what actually is going on, cos I'm almost giving up hope as to the NA DSSC recruitment.

Thank you.

Hey house I got the text about the postponement of the zonal screening and I'm left to wonder what this means. Does this mean everybody who applied should come down to their zonal centers between those dates? Or does it mean that only those who got the text should come? Whatever the answer to the above questions, does it mean that we will be there throughout the date?
Or will there be a list of candidates who should come for the screening released before that date or will further information be communicated to us before then.

To be honest, the text left me really confused.

I'm sorry But there is just no way I'm going to take this news seriously. History has taught us that government should never be trusted to do what it says it will do. Especially government in Nigeria. APC is just another PDP in the making. Afterall it is made up mostly of ex-PDP members who needed to become relevant again. Na the same people. They promise heaven and earth and end up delivering the square root of nothing. We are tired of all these promises abeg. Talk is cheap. It's easy to come out and promise to do everything in the world. What we need is action. We are tired of promises.
