There is one graduate that started making okpa in Abuja. He is making enough profit from it, going with the update he usually post on TikTok. He said he started with 5k but he has grown the capital to millions today.

Look into daily consumption like that, if u are actually serious. It must not be okpa, there are other daily consumption that are currently neglected, which can yield money when well packaged and marketed

BusinessRe: Transport Business: Share Your Experience by Henix(m):
DadojoReloaded:
Chairman, abeg share this your business idea na. I need other cool businesses to invest in.

6k daily will amount to over 1 million in 7 months. I only buy engine oil and make repairs above 10k. The riders are responsible for repairs less than 10k.
There is no rider that can consistently remit 6k for you daily without skipping or giving excuse some days, no matter how good the person is, even within the 1st 3 months of buying the bike new. Like I said earlier, you can not recoup the money you invested on a motorcycle within 7 months.

As for other better businesses one can do, when you are ready for business, you will have no option than to move out and mingle with real business people.

I started Okada business with my best friend during our ss3. As we finished secondary school, my friend moved to Europe through his brother's contact, while myself got admission and continued the Okada business, which I eventually grew to an enviable level by the time I was done with NYSC. I left it after NYSC and joined phone and computer accessories at computer village Ikeja. I can't be talking of drivers and their wahala today, when I have things I can import from China and make my money.

Meanwhile, before I finished my NYSC, my best friend who left our secondary school Okada partnership business for me to travel, was already shipping motor parts to Nigeria from Europe. Today, he is back to Nigeria doing the same motor parts importation business. Who have time to talk about drivers and their wahala, in the name of business.

With transport business, you can barely live a normal peaceful life. It's not like the business has a good prospect. While ur mates who are doing real business are buying land and developing it, urself will be dealing with headache from drivers. Na so one of my drivers got involved in robbery with my bike back then, community people carry him and my bike go dump for SARS. If no be the serious police contact wey I get back then, na so I for lost money or even get implicated in the matter then

While I appreciate your input, you should also know that there's something called Grace. The same business others will do and fail, some people will do it and succeed very well.

To your point, I have only visited the station once because police were demanding for the original copies of the bike papers.
Also, some riders have gotten involved in minor accidents, but that didn't stop the business from running. Like I said, I have my strategy and it's working very well.

My manager has a bunch of riders on standby to take over any bike once there's a default or any issue. For instance one biker was involved in an accident which prevented him from working for close to 2 weeks. But that didn't stop the bike from working as someone else took over.

Lastly, to your point about making back my capital, you don't even know how much the bikers remmit per day, so you are just assuming that I haven't gotten back my capital.
Yes, destiny are never the same. I actually didn't condemn your business, neither did I say that I didn't make something out of it when I did the business as a student. I only said that if you are business inclined, that there are better business with better prospects you would have done with that money, with peace of mind.

Transport business gave me my first real life business experience as an ambitious young boy, but after I finished my NYSC and relocated to Lagos, I always laugh whenever I remember my transport business days. I did it as a result of my limited business idea back then. I can't imagine myself doing such now.

Talking about having a manager, that is the basic aspect of the business na, except when the business owner is equally a driver himself. I see it as lazy people business, or people with no business idea.

About not knowing how much U are generating from the drivers, I don't know ur state, but it's almost impossible for you to recoup the money you invested on a motorcycle within 7 months, through a driver.

Wishing you all the best in your business

I always loose money to virtual, there's this betkiing shop opposite my street, they do other businesses like POS transactions, anytime I go there to withdraw money, I'd end up playing virtual bets.

Lost 30k today, lost 22k on Wednesday...I've been loosing my hard earned money for 2yrs nw in that same betshop.

I'll be rounding up with NYSC next month, no single savings.... I'm tired, dunno how to stop.😩😩
U are living unproductive life. You can only stop when you are eventually ready to be truthful to yourself

Bike or keke business is good. I'm personally invested in such business. I have almost 10 bikes under my management and they all remit money on a daily basis.
I've been on it for close to 7 months now with less than 2 days of default.

I don't deal with the bike riders myself, instead I employed a manager who is very strict with them.

Any day you default, the bike will be taken from you. In a nutshell, I have my strategy and it's been working for about 7 months now.
You can't give a proper review of transport business with 7 months experience. To start with, you are yet to recoup ur investment capital with that 7 months. Such short duration is equally not yet enough time to experience the full scale maintenance aspect of the business, what U are currently encountering in 7 months is minor maintenance. So ur review is inconsequential for now.

Meanwhile, I'm not outrightly condemning the business for you though, but make sure u are equal to the task. Being equal to the task means being ready for case, because it will be occurring once in a while. If you are business inclined, there are far better businesses you would have done with that money, with peace of mind, and grow it big. I'm talking from experience.

I did transport business through out my school days. I started with Okada business during my ss3 in secondary school and grew it to tricycle business before I graduated from university. I bought my 1st bus for motor business before l left for NYSC camp. Before I finished my NYSC, I still bought Golf-3 which I gave out for taxi. It was after my NYSC that I removed my hand from the business and moved to Lagos.

I wouldn't want to believe that u grabbed money from somewhere and rush to invest on bikes, probably because of what ur supposed manager must have told you. On a normal ground, you suppose to start with 1 or 2, and run it for a full one year before injecting more capital into the business, which would have enabled you to get proper feasibility study of the business.

Ensure you have a serious contact at police, because you will likely be needing it soon

Good afternoon Nairalanders, I hope you all are doing good? Who can share their experience regarding Motorcycle and tricycle given to people to deliver.

I spoke with my mum and she said I shouldn't dare because Nigerians are wi¢ked in that kind of business while speaking to someone today, that one emphasize a lots on it, which is why I decided to come here to hear people experience about it

Can you share your experience when given out a bicycle or even car to deliver money daily but turned sour?
Don't try that rubbish business, unless you are ready to drive it by yourself.

I did the tricycle business during my university days in Awka. Drivers are among the most wicked set of people in Nigeria. They will be humble when begging for you to buy them the tricycle, but as soon as they start feeding well after you must have given them the tricycle, they will suddenly turn to Tiger, and will start seeing themselves as suffering for you. To remit their account will suddenly become a problem, stories will start coming.

Funny enough, once you collect the tricycle and give to another person, the stories will likely continue and might even be worse. The 2nd person's story will largely be that the 1st person has k!lled the Keke finish with the way he handled it while using it. Terrible set of people.

To arrest the driver or his surety? That one is another long case. They once stole one of my tricycles back then. Fortunately for me, the driver was already finishing the Hire-purchase. Nevertheless, I still arrested him and his surety but nothing came out at the end of the day.

When I was doing that of okada, which I also did on Hire-purchase base, one of the boys got involved in robbery, luckily for me then, I had access to Police P.R.O then at state headquarters. One of the officers in his office followed me to SARS and brought out my bike with the influence of the P.R.O, while the boy continued with his robbery case. Assuming I had no such contact then, that's how I would have lost the bike or even get implicated. Let me not mention the few road accidents that occurred during both the okada and Keke days, that one is normal aspect of the business, though capable of skyrocketing ur BP if you are new or a weak type.

I heard that Keke is more than 3 million naira now, I wonder the kind of people who still risk their money on such rubbish business nowadays. Apart from the number of years it will take U to recoup ur capital, the business is equally highly risky.

For hire-purchase, the driver is expected to deposit certain percentage of the hire-purchase price before taking up the tricycle, but is that possible from someone who is dying of hunger and begging you for a means of livelihood? Like I said earlier, it's one of the worse business U will ever invest in, except if you want to drive it by yourself. Nevertheless, you can go ahead and give it a trial, destiny are never the same, and we also learn better from personal experience
