Omofaye99:
In place like Zamfara where accommodation is cheap, you can get a good selfcon for 100k per year.

Groceries expenses of maybe 25k per month

Utility payment of light bill of 10k per year

Transport of 4k per month

Let calculate:

Accommodation: 100,000 Naira per year

Groceries: 25,000 Naira per month x12 months = 300,000 Naira per year

Utilities (light bill): 10,000 Naira per year

Transport: 4,000 Naira per month × 12 months
= 48,000 Naira per year

100,000+300,000+10,000+48,000=458,000 a year.
Groceries of 25k for a month? Are you being serious right now?
Light bill 10k per year? I guess u are joking

Not take home. Before HMRC takes their cut
500k can't give u a quality life in today's Nigeria, even if u are living in Northern state.

House rent, school fees for private school because of the uselessness of public school, feeding, fueling ur generator for few hours power supply at night, etc. Let's pray that U don't encounter any serious health challenge that will take U to hospital.

Meanwhile, after all that, u will still be living in fear because of high insecurity in the country.

I will choose 2k in London, for the sake of my sanity, access to quality health care, and the future of my kids.

£2000 in London is like a drop in the ocean.
Lets make a breakdown of expenses.

Let say you are considering a share room of maybe £600 monthly utility bill of £100 per month. Expenses of let say grocery of £200 with £100 for transportation monthly.

That is a total of £1100 a month.

Back to Nigeria, 500k naira depends on the region and area. 500k in northern state like Zamfara or Sokoto will last you a year.
Pls can you equally give us breakdown on how 500k is going to last a year in Zamfara or Sokoto

Integrity30:
Good afternoon, well-meaning Nigerians; I am typing this post amidst severe pain and serious hunger.

With the current hardship in our dear country, how will a poor but hardworking person like me survive?

I am confused and in trauma.

I am 30 years old and an O.LEVEL holder. I had a car accident five weeks ago and got bedridden as a result of a broken leg that I suffered in the accident.

The car accident threw me into trauma and hunger, as I am unable to go out to hustle for my daily bread as I used to do before.

As I am typing this, I have yet to eat food since yesterday morning other than the water that I have been drinking to gain some strength. This is due to the fact that I am totally broke now. I spent the last #60,000 I have on me on medication. I am in Lagos, but my parents are far back in Kwara State, Ilorin, my hometown. I am thinking of relocating back home to get better treatment, but the issue is, I still do not have the transportation fare.

Please, daddies, mummies, and my brothers and sisters on Nairaland forum, please help me; hunger is doing a very deadly work in my body.

I live at No. 26, Araromi Street, Eleko Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

If you live close to me and want to visit me, my phone number is 0913 531 0933 and that's my address. Please help me.

Below are my bank details; please have mercy on me.

Bank: OPay
Account Number: 913 531 0933
Name: Babatunde Sikiru Yisa

May God bless you more and grant you all your heart desires as you help me.

May God turn our situation in Nigeria from its current state to a better state that will bring joy, happiness, and riches to you, me, and all Nigerians. Ameen

President Tinubu Flags-Off 35 Kilometers Road Linking Anambra To Second Niger Bridge,

By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)

President Bola Tinubu has flagged off construction of the second Niger Bridge road linking Delta and Anambra states, Phase 2B.

The President, who was represented by the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, performed the flagoff at Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area.

The thirty-five kilometres road with seven flyovers and bridge and a width of thirty-five to forty-six meters will connect Atani through Obosi, Nkpor, and terminate in Ogbunike.

Governor Soludo stated that completion of the humongous project will connect several communities, by-passing Onitsha and have a lot of impact on the life of ndị Anambra.

While stressing that politics is about public good, Governor Soludo hinted that such partnership between Anambra state government and the federal government for the development of the southeast will lead to maximised benefits to the common man.

The Governor appreciated the President for the project, admonishing that it is through continuous support for him that ndị Anambra can get more dividends.

The Minister for Works, Engr. Dave Umahi who revealed that the project will benefit those travelling down from Lagos, said that the road will have cameras and solar powered streetlights, adding that thirty percent mobilization has been approved and released to the contractors.

He described Governor Soludo as a key leader who has mainstreamed innovation in the governance of Anambra State, congratulated him on his successful three years in office, calling on the people to keep praying and supporting the President and Governor.

The Southern General Manager of CGC Nigeria Limited, Carlos Chen, handling the project, extended his gratitude to the President and Governor of Anambra state for giving them the honour to contribute to the quality of life of the people assuring that the project will be completed on time in line with international best practices.

The Chairman of Anambra state Traditional Rulers' Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, said that they have been looking forward to the completion of the project, which has a lot of benefits to the people.

Mammoth jubilating crowd comprising locals, attended the ceremony.

You are right there are jobs that pays high as 20 to 30 pounds per hour. Most of them are fixed contract job. Some will require u to change career path and time is not ur friend

Example are jobs of 30k per annum or 40k per annum. This could be government jobs or private corporate jobs. Am still targeting roles in government agencies but you have to keep sending application... Let's see how it goes before the end of the year.

More also you have to balance between sponsorship and money.. You can't be chasing money n leave sponsorship.. So once u are sponsored and u stay for 5 years then u will be off visa issues as you can now stay in the country for as long as u like.

Una no Dey intelligent sha.
I'm not interested in any tribal bigotry. My position is that whoever that has been previously indicted for a financial misappropriation is not fit to be elected into a leadership position of any sane country. No body is stopping you from trading or living ur private life in ur country, but as long as you have been indicted for a financial misappropriation by a reputable body, bank for example can not hire you, if they run a background check on you and discover such record.

Unfortunately, those are the kind of character Nigerians elect to make law or manage their collective wealth, while they continue complaining of bad government everyday

Please tell them. Nigerians are just too corrupt and it always shows in our line of thought.
We want a better country, yet we can't even get the basic things right. Someone who has been previously indicted for a financial misappropriation, is today holding a leadership position in Nigeria, and his people would expect him not to misappropriate their constituency projects money.

Is such a questionable character even fit to be in a disciplinary committee of any reasonable association, talkmore of senate? Someone who has been previously indicted by a professional body for a heavy misconduct, is today a member(abi the chairman sef) of a disciplinary committee of Nigeria senate. Does it not sound like a joke? Nigeria is just a joke
PoliticsRe: Natasha Files Disbarment Petition Against Edo South Senator, Imasuen by Henix(m): 8:42am On Mar 25, 2025
SoftSport:
While it's fair to question someone's character based on financial issues, disbarment in one jurisdiction doesn't automatically disqualify someone from serving in another, especially when the laws here don't bar him from running.
"Senator Imasuen was permanently disbarred by the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department, on May 10, 2010, following a complaint by Daphne Slyfield, a client who accused him of misappropriating legal fees.

The court found him guilty of multiple breaches of professional conduct, leading to the revocation of his legal license in the United States".

If he can be indicted for misappropriation of legal fees, what makes you think that he is not also going to misappropriate public funds if he finds himself in leadership position? Like I said earlier, the indictment is a proof that he has a questionable character, he shouldn't have been cleared to contest for an election in the first place. No sane society can trust him with leadership or public funds, with such record. But I'm not surprised that he is today a senator in Nigeria where anything goes

Natasha's petition is more about political rivalry than legal grounds, as Senator Imasuen's disbarment in New York shouldn't define his ability to serve in Nigeria, especially since he wasn't disbarred here.
Such financial indictment means that the senator has a questionable character, and shouldn't have been cleared to contest for an election in a sane society

You spent 42million on japa. If I may ask, why not consider a business in Nigeria with that huge some of money?

Did you have the 42million in cash or you paid some of the money as you are working in the UK?

Will you only consider relocating back home if you at least save the 42million you spent ?
That 42M probably came from his Nigeria savings or properties at home. You can't be able to pay ur school fees in uk with part time job while schooling.

Talking about whether he will consider moving back home if he recovers the 42M, he already said that himself and his wife joint monthly savings is 500, which is an equivalent of one million naira. What this means is that he needs approximately 4 years to recover that 42M.

Now, would you advice him to return home after the 4yrs? I don't think it's a wise advice. He is currently earning minimum wage, and his wife is not yet working full-time because of their kids, meaning there is a room for an improved earning and savings. The UK holds a better future for them, especially their kids, if they can work hard to improve their status

Well i paid over 15000 pounds in school fees and 90% of that money was converted in naira. With the exhange rate its 30 million naira.
I paid house rent for over 4 months and a deposit of one month with naira thats over 7 million.

Flight tickets with my family cost us over 5 million.

If you can give me that i will return to Nigeria
With ur current monthly 500 savings, it means it will take you about 4 years to recover the 42 million naira. Well, like u already said, it's a long term investment and not a quick rich scheme.

I will only advice you seek for more opportunities to improve your earning and savings
