Family / Re: How To Raise A Responsible Adolescent by henry5050: 9:36pm On Nov 10, 2018
jaszplus12:
Nice to see that you are trying to make parents understand this very important part of growing up!
I want to add that parents especially mothers should be very careful at this period to communicate with their adolescent children.
I noticed that most times mothers feel this child has no will of his her own therefore doesn't deserve to be respected...you find parents screaming down at the child at any given opportunity. Just for little mistake or error in making judgement.
To communicate involves more than just throwing instructions and expect immediate and unquestionable loyalty...and this is the first mistake we make. We disregard the child's time and expect them to fully obey us!
We disregard the child's emotions and expect them to just be inanimate to our own ends meet!
Suffice to say..."that's the way we were brought up!" This is what most parents say when questioned on their treatment of their children...
There's a lot to learn to make this very special moment become a moment to savour for the children that fall into this category!
Recall your own period and ask yourself...how much we longed for our parents to understand our emotional and psychological needs then...and how we felt when they didn't grasp!
The floor is open....
More remarks please...
nice put up

Family / How To Raise A Responsible Adolescent by henry5050: 11:13am On Nov 10, 2018
TIPS ON HOW TO RAISE A RESPONSIBLE

ADOLESCENT CHILD

So many parents has argued on which developmental stage of a child is the most difficult. While there are bound to be diverse opinion on such a topic. Stanley Hall in his work on Biogenetic Psychology of Adolescence refers the adolescent stage as a time of storm and stress.
However, his statement support those parents that are of the opinion that the adolescents stage is the most difficult. To buttress his claim he explained that, adolescence which happens to be a stage of transition from childhood to adulthood is evolutionary. According to Hall, this period or stage in evolution is a period in which children change from being beasts to being civilized. He also emphasized that adolescence stage is a period of ups and downs.
At this stage, children feel they have arrived and they have gotten to the stage where they can handle some situations by themselves and at this time, trying to tell them what is of benefit to them seems like talking to the bricks and expecting you have a response.
Lots of parents have seek more counseling from me on how to go about their adolescent children. Making it more proven that the most critical stage in helping any child grow and maximize his or her own potential is the adolescence stage. Research had it that, in America alone eight parents out of every ten give up on their children the first two years of puberty, which happens to be the onset of adolescence.
In recent times just as it were in the past, adolescents have been reported to have the highest rate in juvenile delinquency. This is practical because parents finds it difficult to tame the excesses this developmental stage brings.
To help you raise a responsible adult that would successfully achieve all the adolescence developmental task these are few tips that can help.
1. Effective communication: According to Bruno and Thompson (2012). Communication is the life wire of every family. When parents and teachers build effective communication between them and their children, it would be easy for their children to imbibe wise counsel. One of the obstacle to the attainment of adolescent developmental tasks is lack of proper interaction in the family. When parents fail to strengthen the interaction between them and their kids it makes transition into adulthood stormy and stressful and could lead to failure to attain adolescence developmental task.
2. Good listening skill: Listening to your adolescent child is all that matters for he or she to trust you and make you part of their decision makers. Remember that puberty is the onset of adolescence and during this stage lots of growths and changes comes up and they would become curious. If parents and teachers fail to listen to them and give answer to their questions they would resort to seeking counsel from their inexperienced mates and when such happens parents would then have to lose their children to their peers and the outcome would be stormy.
3. Be more involved in parenting: Because this stage of development is critical in raising a responsible adult. Parents should be more involved in helping their children fulfill their potentials. Parents are to be on alert to identify behaviors that are not in conformity with the norms and values of the society and try to put it in order through effective communication.
4. Keep your adolescent child occupied: When a human mind is dormant, irrational thoughts sets in which most time becomes the reason why most adolescents engage in drugs and other forms of crime. You as an involved parent, it is pertinent you help your child develop a career at his or her late childhood stage that would keep them occupied so as not to be fully carried away with pressures peer brings. The parents of most world changer were able to identify their children's potential from little and help them build it. Not up to two adolescents among twenty is working on their career and not up to two among five can categorically tell you this is what their dreams and aspiration are. The least they would tell you is that they want to go to the university. When you fail to engage the mind of your adolescent child through ensuring they become productive then there is a high tendency that you are exposing them to drug addiction and other forms of crime.
5. Be a model to your children: Where acceptable norms and values is missing among parents and teachers, adolescents suffers lack of guidance and direction in identity and character formation. Adolescents are products of their parents either through emulation or biological. The home is the first environment a child comes in contact with and the home happens to be the product of the parents. Whatever they model in childhood and adolescence stage patterns their behavior. So the integral part in raising a responsible adult is for you as a parents, teachers and guardians to first be a responsible individual.

Politics / Is Parenting All That African Societies Need To Thrive? by henry5050: 7:59pm On Oct 07, 2018
IS PARENTING All THAT AFRICAN
SOCIETIES NEED TO THRIVE ?

According to Brooks (2012) Parenting or child rearing is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. Parenting refers to the intricacies of raising a child and not exclusively to the biological relationship.

According to Eriega (2006) parenting is defined as all the rearing practices implicated by the family as well as all the maternal and paternal influences evolved so that the child can live a fulfilled life.

With the above definitions, I would say yes indeed, parenting is all that any society requires to grow. The future of any society depends on the quality of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child that he or she got from his or her parents, teachers and guardians through parenting.

A society cannot be said to be developing if there is no effective maternal and paternal influences on her children.

According to Dike (2017) A society cannot rise above the mentality of its majority.
The development of every African society rest on the mentality infused in her children by their parents, teachers and guardians, not basically on infrastructures because, a society cannot be more than her thoughts.

Great nations saw the clue of bettering their society not in the number of what is beneath their grounds but in the quality of mentality they give to their children at home, schools and everywhere they find themselves.

As we often time say "Attitude is everything ". The right attitude we need to better our African societies can only be found in the content of what parents, teachers and guardians give to their children to imbibe.

Africa is underdeveloped not because of low power supply, bad roads, poor governance but, because of the refusal of parents to spore the minds of their children not to accept mental limitation.

For because a government is bad and during your time you did little or nothing to better it, does not mean all hope is lost. We can teach our children how not to accept mental limitation. From small we can condition their minds to focus on nation building.

Imagine a society where we come to the realization of the fact that parenting is a difficult task but, it is achievable . Based on that, we put up centers where one would learn how to parent a child and the act of rearing children.

Indeed parenting is everything. And everything our society needs to grow is in the mind of that little child you see on the street. Please ensure that he or she is not mentally limited, ensure he or she imbibe the right kind of attitude. Do not corrupt them, for it is the proper upbringing you give to them that determine if you truly played a role in the actualization of a better African society.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY REALY CAUSED THE DEATH OF D'BANJ'S  CHILDS.

*Mistake: would you say it's a mistake, Him getting close to the pool is not what the parents intended?

* poverty: The parents don't have enough money to hire a care giver that would always man the child?

* Negligence: would you be quick to say the parents neglected a one year old child to approuch the pool or they saw the child in the pool and felt like he can swim his way out?

What ever your thought is I bet you one thing is sacrosanct, when parents are more invoved in parenting even incident beyond human can be avoided for the life of their children.

So many children got themselves injured while they where still very small with hot water, fire, machine, electrics etc. Hey if you give an excuse that you can not follow your tennage child to everywhere he or she goes to, so as to prevent them from trouble would you also give the same excuse for a one year old child?

Please and please the primary responsibility of every parent is to keep an eye on their children so that something would not go wrong, through being more involved in parenting this possible. Not being involved in parenting to us in RRCSAFRICA is the worst abuse most parents give to their children on a daily.

Condulence to the berieved we in RRCSAFRICA wish parents around the world to learn from this and be more involved in parenting.

RRCSAFRICA wish to get to the stage where we can take matters like this to curt because, there is no excuse or what so ever that can justify parents not being more involved in parenting that would lead to the death of a child. A child belongs to the parent when the child is still in the womb but he or she is out it then becomes the concern of everyone including the government.
