D discussion so far are very good. Am just imagining why our brothers here with these kind of ideas are not in power. What happened few days ago in Lagos will still happen to other places in Nigeria. Our ppl should learn to invest in their home first cause they say that charity begins at home. i don't see future in those investments. We the south east made Lagos what it is today and Kano and Even Abuja in been developed and 70% of houses there belongs to igbos. If onitsha and Aba are invested on in great way, it will be better for the east. That is why i need Enugu airport and seaport in east cause the money Lagos make from these is much and still 80% of these moey comes from business men from east. |
eddiebruk: @ Henry i dont think your advice to that young man was encouraging, he can stay in S.A more than a month if he applies for a temporary resident permit during his first one month on Visit and with his receipt he can stay even after his visa has expired provided he has his receipt which shows that he has an active pending permit in process, I am currently schooling here and i have a 3years student Visa which i got with this process since last year, and i think companies do not discriminate if you dont act like other Nigerians who lives in the street do, i have seen so many successful Nigerians doing very well here with companies and some are even Agent at the home affairs well registered and established...my friend best thing you should do before arrival is make sure you have your BTA with you and when you arrive SA change the currency to SA rands, sit down at the arrival and call your friend, if his number doesn't go through use one of the Airport Taxi ask the Driver for a cheap guest house, they are around 250-350 Rands, lodge in one of them..but make sure to have the number of the Taxi driver just in case you need something else and needs his service, if you are coming to SA genuinely you have nothing to be worried about.Mr eddiebruk, if you want to advice someone, advice him on wat is realistic and attainable. That you got 3 years student visa does not make you adviser of immigration in south africa. i advised him to stay for one month and go back is not a bad advise. he himself said someone also advised him to do the same. So can't he get a temporary resident permit of south Africa from Nigeria. if he has a good reason to stay, he can apply anywhere. i guess you came new and you are yet to experience the discrimination of south Africans towards Nigerians and that is why you speak the way you do. i know some Nigerians work in companies here but you can't use a small proportion to determine the vast majority here who do biz cause no work. Even south Africans on their own have numerous unemployed people and talk more of foreigners. i simply told him to hold on to his job but it seems you have a better idea which can land him a job when he comes. sometimes, the govt discourage companies from hiring foreigners by increasing the work permit requirement which i simply highlighted but i never said he won't get a job. But since you have a better idea, help him with a job and get a permit for him as well. Yo seem to have a better idea and knowledge in that aspect more than i do |
eddiebruk: The boy might have lied to you sir..Laptops are not allowed in checked in luggage's, because they are Valuables and can break..once they do their scan and find out that you have a laptop in your checked in luggage they simply call your attention to remove it and take it inflight with you, so do not believe what that boy must have told you, rather educate yourself more with how things works rather than how you think they should work or because that's how they work somewhere then they should work anywhere.Am very sure that i have flown an aircraft. i also know that in one of the travels i made to Lagos, i saw a passenger crying that his valuable has been stolen in my very eyes in Lagos from his check in luggage. He complain his laptop, phones and others are missing. i pity him so much and other also complain there in my very eyes and not hear say. How then will you explain that to me. i have also seen many who put laptops, wine and many others things in the Luggage and if the ask you to come and remove it, i wonder how those things get there. If you tell me that they will ask you to willingly remove it from there, because they don't want to be held responsible, it is understandable and not that they will break. I have not heard such stories. Many still carry laptops in the luggages even till now. What annoyed me in these stupid (Luvlagos) calling me a good story teller. Do i get cent from telling lies? I wish i know her in person. We must bear the insults since we are in Nairaland. |
This is not the right place to ask your question. There is a thread for SA inquiries. However, I will like to advice u that u need to go back after just one month. You are giving SA 3 months visa to stay one month at a time and come back and if u wish to go back, u can. If you decides to stay more than one month here, if u are caught by some bad police officers here or something happens where u stay and u were required to provide prove of stay, if it has been more than 30 days, my brother u will find it difficult. If you have a good job in Nija, hold on to it and come here only as a visitor and then go back. SA is not all that good as people thought. No good Job as a foreigner here cause govt do impose some heavy requirement to companies which make them desist from employing foreign nationals. You will enjoy it more if you come as a visitor and go back. Make sure u have better arrangement for accomodation when coming. Always go with ur passport that reads u came with a visa if u have dollars with u cause if not so, u will be required to present receipt of d dollars you purchase Just these few tips. |
Our people should try and do the proper thing. They should have gone with their passport and and get a stay card. its not difficult to do just like if their people are in Nigeria, the immigration will deport them if they find out that they don't have passports like we do. Sincerely, i know a guy ho goes there to buy goods. one day i asked him how he goes there, he told me that they don't use passport cause if you do, u will pay some fees at the border entry. some man to avoid paying such, our people have been going and coming without a passport and stay permit there. |
Luvlagos: Hi, I am actually very surprised at your post & personally feel you are exaggerating, we all know when you travel out from airport your laptop has to be scanned separately out of the bag or pouch in a separate tray with cellphone, coins e.t.c how do the thieves then steal it as it is hand luggage? Let us all ask ourselves how many people chek-in laptops? As you know in SA & a whole lot of countries too nobody checks your hand luggage as it goes through a scanner, so far I only know in Nigeria MMA where security before check-in goes through your bags. All I am saying is for someone who travels a lot between these 2 countries you sound like a good story teller.I BEG YOUR PARDON. I don't have time to argue with you. Believe it or not. I don't personally know you so why accuse of or exaggerating and been a good story teller. if i am a wicked person and if its not against my faith, i will openly swear here that if what i said its not true, let me not find anything better in my remaining life but if i am saying the truth, then you will never find any good thing in your remaining life. What type of nonsense is these. You came from no where and start talking rubbish while you should have used your brain in other useful forms. If you have doubt or questions, why not respectfully ask me to clear it. why will you rain curses on your self for accusing someone telling the truth as a good story teller while you are the one who needs help. i minimize my activities here because a lot of people don't use their senses well. Learn it today to be a good and respectful person yourself rather than accuse someone of telling a good story. of what benefit is it to me to tell lies here? do people make gains here in such ways? Plz stay away from me. i have no such time. What ever you understand or feel, keep to your self. Hero |
Plz keep us with up to date infos for our people living in coal city and other places that the airport will serve. |
Boicc: to book ur flight via ethiopian airline, u've got to meet dem @ d polo park shoppin mall cuz i jux heard d jingles over d radio. Yipee!!! 042 will soon experience a massive boost in infracstructure altough oga Sullivan don try wellaa...That is what we need. Broadcast it in TV, Radio, newspaper not only in coal city but in all south east and Benue, kogi, delta, Etc. This little action shows they are really working to make it a reality. |
I so hate the work done on this airport! Everything is wrong with it!!
But atleast, its better than the one we have before. this is domestic airport. don't mind them call it international. When the international is completed, we will know. |

most of the guys are coming from Europe, us, Asia and they have to be there days if such things happens to the local airlines. is still why we needed this Enugu airport to start functioning immediately. For one thing, traffic like these will reduce. |
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LAND IN LAGOS OR ABUJA TRYING TO CONNECT THE EAST. Passengers yesterday photographed rushing into Arik Air plane that just landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The passengers couldn't even wait for arriving passengers to disembark before jumping on the plane. This was due to shortage of flights to many parts of the country after Arik
|
As far as there is functional airport for international flights, most of us will not fly Lagos or Abuja again. Wat we needed is for our people to patronize the airline. Help publicize the route to our eastern brothers and sisters. It will be less stressful to them if any, reduce expenses for local air travel from Lagos or Abuja to East. Reduce sleeping at the airport just b/c u cannot connect a local flight that same day of arrival or d money u pay for hotel on arrival cause no local flight available. Contributing also to the development of eastern Region. |
justwise: Switzerland (Swiss) or Swaziland? (Southern African)Justwise, i guess the guy meant the (Southern African) Swaziland. That is the proper spelling of the country name. But the question u asked is good sha. Let him now specify |
Trust me guys, i know our dear minister must be working very hard to see that these project is achieved. She want Enugu to function very well. She must have back doors activities that will help promote the airport and she must have encouraged Ethiopia to start the route and must have convinced them that majority of people who fly out of Nigeria are from the east and show them the benefit of been the only airline to run there and by november to march, they will make lots of money from enugu. But now is right time to Encourage Embassies to open VFS offices in the East. |
ARROBA: It seems that Ethiopian Airline sales office is still in Lagos.they are just starting. they must have an office in Enugu where you can book flight especially at the airport. that one is a must |
asha 80: guy i am not sure how the west and north come into this.we should be careful how we make certain statements. He is right. I dont know the region you are from but that guy is right. Do you know that 70% TRAVELERS from Nigeria are from East and South South, 25% to the west and 5% to the North. Why should we travel from East to Lagos to enter flight. East are mostly importers who travel far and wild. Do you know when the east start to cry for the international airport, seaport etc. Long time ago. For one thing, the money Lagos makes from travelers in terms of hotels and feeding and shopping is much That is why west may not likely grant the request like OBJ did. The same with North with Kano airport and Abuja. For one thing, the rate of growth of a city and revenues grows once you have things like airport and seaport. That is true talk from him. |
This Nri priest is jealous. the guy is very sick. Asaba airport: Imagine the likeness. my people ignore him and lets spread the massage and get this airport make some cool money for the east and Enugu in particular. |
NRI PRIEST: Asaba airport will be closer for Anambrarians and the infrastructure there is better. From Asaba to Idenmili is about one hour,if I'm not mistaken. Asaba people are our brothers and we must patronize the airport. Enuge on the other hand has caused us Anambrarians a lot of pains. I encourage Anambrarians to fly the Asaba international airport, when its completed. We mustn't forget what these Wawa people did to us after the creation of Enugu state. Pride of Igbo my black aass! Enugu airport is a joke and it will lose a lot of businesses to the world class Asaba airport.Don't be a curse to your people. No one beg you to fly Enugu. While you fly Asaba, we will be cruising direct to Enugu from anywhere in the world. if you don't like it, we have more than the available transformers around for you to hug. Don't be brainless. Minister who knows more than you. i have one more request to make to you. Get away from these thread as fast as possible. is it a big thing to ask? |
Some people I told about the news are very excited. Join hands let's create the awareness. By December, there will be much traffic to the Enugu airport and I will be pleased to be amond those who will fly that airline. Let the proper arrangement of the boarding area and other security be in place. Coal city here we come |
adaobi123: But still I ain't paying for £700 just to go to Enugu.but no one is begging anybody to fly the airline. Just promise us that you won't change your mind one day once the airline starting making a great move and our people start to fly it like never before. |
my cacullations are as follows: fly from johanesburg to Lagos with south african airways will cost me like (amounts in rands which is SA currency) R5300-5500. Fly from Lagos to enugu will cost R1500 for going only which is about 30000k Naira. Return is the same amount R1500. Total amount = 8300 to 9500. However, you will still spend a day at the hotel in Lagos before heading to coal city. Add that cost too cause you wont get a ticket to Enugu from Lagos that same day if you fly from Johannesburg due to departure time which makes your arrivals late in evening. Fly from Johannesburg to Lagos with Arik Airline. prices from R4500 to 5000. Then from Lagos to enugu will cost like R1500 going and the same amount when return. Arik might still delay you in local flights. Then am not sure but you may likely get a flight to Enugu that same day from Lagos but am not sure but if not, you will have to sleep in a hotel and pay the charges too. Total price is R7500. Arik also will not be compared to a national carrier like SAA, Ethiopia and others. Their services are better. i flown Arik 3 times and i know what am saying. Fly Ethiopia to Enugu. Total price is R7500. i still believe that the price will go down cause they are just starting and they may have rise the price cause they expect low turn out from people since is beginning. There is nothing like flying home direct and since they have made it so, nothing will take me to Lagos or Abuja for flying. Lets us one and all patronize these guys. one thing is certain, if you have not suffered what our people from east experience when going abroad cause of these Lagos airport, you wont understand what am saying. |
adaobi123: I still think the prices are a rip off.Adaobi seems like london is expensive but from Johannesburg to Enugu, i just did the calculations and saw is better to fly Ethiopia than any other airline. i will soon release my observations and calculations to see my point in these. |
My people, shall we now rejoice in great happiness. Finally, Ethiopian airline has finally included Enugu airport as one of their destination. These means that you can now book Ethiopian airline now to Enugu from August 29 according to the information i got. However not relying on gossip since i know Enugu as 100% gossip city, i rush to the web site of Ethiopia airline and to my greatest surprization, enugu was there. These is real. No scams. Visit the website your self at http://www.ethiopianairlines.com confirm the information and help distribute the information to all our south eastern brothers to fly with Ethiopia. what we experience thru Lagos is so bad. if you land in Lagos, you still have to spend much money to get to east. lets fly these airline direct to Enugu and get the best of it. Remember that they fly to anywhere in the world. Europe, Asia, Africa, south and north America etc. When they start making the money and some other airline comes begging on the way, remember that Ethiopia suffered at first since its not easy to start something new. When these route of Enugu may start gaining ground, u will see may airline asking for approval. Let us not forget this airline Ethiopia. We are still expecting numerous pix from the interior of the airport in Enugu. Those who flew there recent can assist |
O boy, na true talk ooooo. Thank God that we can suffer again going to lagos or even landing in Lagos at night with no other place to go. I will definately buy tickets for these airline. Plz help distribute the information urging our south eastern brothers to start flying to enugu with ethipia to where ever they are going. share the news abd make the market competitive. let me visit their website now. |
ujoinme: enugu airport terminal finished as at may 2013This is old pix. Am among the first to post it here. we dont need this old one but new ones of the interiors. |
i have watched this show several times and the custom and border control of Australia don't check Nigerians traveling to Australia much like they do people from Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, south africa, Indonesia, cause these people use lots of drugs and that they carry it on them. But if the rate of Nigerians carrying drugs to Ausie increases, they may check us like they do other people. |
