Is there a formula to estimate clearing costs if the body type and year are known? Will it make much difference if I wait till 2013 to buy a 2010 model vs buying it now?

@hobatcash...its possibl u were called in error. Either that or u are on d border of their cutoff line and they got somebody who pushed u below d line. D person who called is most likely an intern or nysc.
@detrick007...your chances are very slim with a 2-2. And if u don't have any experience to back this 2-2 thn your chances are next to nothing.
@mobiss...I think its better u go and get your certificate and stay with this non paying job. Remeber in nigeria, experience counts only when its backed by d 'paper'. Debosky is totally right, don't get hung up and don't spend your life waiting. From my experience a 2-2 BSc + welding certificate means you're overqualified to be taken as a welder (OND is d norm) and also underqualified to be taken as an engineer (u know d drill) esp with no experience. U shld pursue other things, get some good experience and try again in 10yrs if u must.

in general - as to pay, the pay in these companies are difficult to put a number to, because of the way its generally spread. your monthly pay is not your annual pay divided by 12. and your annual pay is not your combined 5-yr income divided by 5, for example.
however, you can expect at least 500k naira every month, and about 10m every year - these are minimum, but they should be good enough for you if you are not already in one of those companies.
also quit planning how to spend the money when you'v not even got the job. unless you have a choice between 2 or more companies, you should care what exactly they pay. spend your energy getting information on how to get the job.

yea, 2sexy, 2005-2009 was the recruitment drive because of oil prices. now the recruitment isnt as much. some of the staff who go on study leave are not even able to get re-absorbed. and even then, i dont think they take HNDs - they take ONDs and then university degrees - BSc, MSc, PhD. the HND holders i know in oil had to apply with their ONDs - even some BSc holders who entered uni through direct entry had to step down to apply with their ONDs.

i would think total is the better company - even though coming in as experienced, the pay may be higher or less in any one of the two companies - but total is the multinational, and you generally get broader experience there, including more opportunities to travel, visas are easier to get - especially for your family - if you are employed by a multinational etc.

for now, i'd prefer smthn without the "n" in the name if i had a choice.
