João Pedro was electrifying for Chelsea in the recently concluded Club World Cup, he really looked sharp. As for Gyökeres, he’s coming from the Portuguese league, which is a different level in terms of intensity and physicality, so there’s always a bit of uncertainty. He could turn out to be a big success, or maybe not, it depends on how quickly he adapts.

The thing with João Pedro is that he already has Premier League experience, and that matters. If Chelsea can provide him with consistent service from midfield, there’s no reason he’ll be missing the kind of chances that Madueke and Jackson were wasting last season.

I never wrote Haaland off in terms of ability, that was never the issue. My skepticism was always about how well he’d fit into Pep’s highly structured, almost robotic system, which, at times, was evident last season. If you actually watch closely, when Haaland isn’t scoring, he often looks isolated or out of sync with the flow of the tactics. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad player, just that the system doesn’t always bring out his full range unless it’s built around finishing chances.

Haaland had an excellent first season, largely because De Bruyne and Rodri were in top form and consistently supplying him with quality service. That dynamic made it easier for him to thrive. Last season, however, that level of support wasn’t as consistent, especially with KDB out for a significant stretch, and it clearly affected Haaland’s overall involvement and output.

Salah won the Premier League and had a standout individual season locally. Mbappé, on the other hand, won absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, Palmer won two international trophies, the Conference League and the Club World Cup, and was the standout player, winning the Golden Ball in the highest-ranked club tournament globally. That’s not something you just brush off.

Let’s not forget, Messi won the Ballon d’Or off the World Cup, not Ligue 1. Modrić won it after a deep World Cup run plus a Champions League win.
Palmer has his own case, a trophy-winning season, Golden Ball, and crucial performances on the biggest stages.

So yes, he absolutely deserves to be in the top 3, especially compared to players who either won nothing or weren’t even close to being the best in their squads.

A Chelsea player might not be a regular Ballon d’Or name, but this one season from Palmer is different, numbers, trophies, and individual honors back it up. It’s not delusion. It’s just facts.

Why wouldn’t he finish third? He won two major trophies and the Golden Ball in the biggest club football tournament in the world. That alone puts him ahead of many contenders. So yes, it’s realistic to expect him to finish at least third. Let’s be serious here, Palmer had an elite season by any standard.

Palmer could have easily become a Ballon d’Or winner if not for the inefficiency of his attacking partners, Jackson and Madueke. Both players seemed to overrate themselves, yet consistently failed to deliver in crucial moments. Their poor decision-making and lack of end product often disrupted attacking flow and killed Palmer’s momentum, ultimately leading to his goal-scoring drought at a critical point last season.

I don’t think so, bro. With the arrival of Xavi Simons, I believe Palmer won’t be played centrally as much. Maresca will most likely stick with him on the right wing, where he was most effective last season. Neto and Estevão might get chances, but probably more in rotation or against lesser teams. Palmer’s consistency and creativity from the right is too valuable to shift permanently.

Having Palmer dictate play from midfield is honestly a waste of his attacking abilities. He’s far more dangerous operating closer to the final third, where he can directly influence the game with goals and assists. His instinct and creativity shine best in the attacking zones, not deep in midfield.

Poor finishing from Madueke and Jackson, along with injuries to Lavia and Fofana, really held us back from properly competing with Liverpool for the league last season. Hopefully, with those players staying fit this coming season, we’ll be in a strong position to win at least two major trophies.

I also believe Enzo Maresca will play Palmer consistently from the right wing, especially with the arrival of Xavi Simons adding more creativity and balance to the squad. Exciting times ahead!

As you mentioned, PSG often faced tired European teams, while Chelsea had to play Brazilian teams full of energy and better adapted to the weather conditions during the Club World Cup.

No wonder Botafogo was the only team to defeat PSG before we beat them in the final. Chelsea had a tougher path in the tournament because they faced strong and energetic Brazilian teams.

PSG is in a one horse league, a farmer league. They mostly rest their first eleven, they won the league on match day 22 already. Whereas, Chelsea play in epl, the toughest league in the world. Aside from Madueke and Delap, Jackson is one of the most affordable attackers in our entire squad. He is not Haaland, Kane, or Lewandowski, but he is one of the few forwards who can consistently chip in with 10 to 12 goals a season, along with a few assists. Below is a screenshot of his PL stats.
