Godspeed in getting the PR card.

hotD:
We were not given that option at any point, most agent even specify the organization they want your credit report from,i see equifax, credit union and is it narboly report or so and the way this guys are they would not respect anything from Nigeria honestly,i feel more secured holding my naija passport in the US than this place, waiting patiently for PR cards so i can hide the naija passport for only when we are going home(dats d only thing it is very good for honestly).

I have registered with credit union thou so i am watching my credit report.

Thanks for this response. Was actually thinking the credit system would work in the same way criminal and other global checks are conducted - checking with other national partners to foresee any risk.

Generally speaking, I’ll be surprised if there’s no existing program in place to bridge this gap.

Thanks again.

No. We don't even know or consider credit report from the US ...
You have bad credit in the US and move to Canada, you will start life afresh. No one will inquire about your credit in the US.
Same as if you move from Canada to the US
The funny part is that both US and Canada use Equifax for consumers credit record

So, to answer your question, your credit report in Nigeria won't help you in Canada

Hi, would a credit report from Nigeria be entertained for the purpose of getting teleco, housing, car, insurance etc services?

I know we have both local and international credit bureaus/companies in Nigeria that could verify one’s credit score such that they are globally recognized. Has anyone actively pursued this to that length?

Hi Guys,

Trust the start to the week was stress free.

So in my search for stories written by Nigerians who have moved to Canada, I came across this blog post (Blackmigrantgirl[dot]c-o-m) where the writer shared her experience on moving to Canada from Nigeria and what she has had to go through in settling down. From quitting her luxurious job in Nigeria, to the stress she faced getting a new job in Canada and trying to find a suitable apartment etc. I wish she would post her "application timeline" here as previous PRs have done.

Anyways, she is quite vivid in her stories, it almost feels like one is with her as she goes around. I literally read all her posts in one sitting. Apparently, she also did a twitter thread (Blackmigrantgrl/status/1001289127155777536) where she highlighted things she noticed were different from the Nigerian culture she was used to.

Thought to share this post, as it may give us an idea of what to expect on eventually moving to the Red Maple Leaf country. Especially for those of us who recently got the COPR and are preparing to move.

By the way, this is not an advert of any sort o but I hope postings like this are not against the rules.

Cheers.

HFTT.

Hi guys,

Came across the attached Express Entry budget on the web.

This should help anyone estimate how much the EE journey is likely to cost.

Obviously, some of the figures may change due to updates by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or even the peculiarities of individual cases and probably third parties involved in the process. But at least, you have a rough idea of what you may incur.

Cheers.
