PhonesMtn Fraud Alert - 08060140300 by HeroKing(op):
Dear Nairalander,

Be warned. I got a text from 08060140300 today. The text reads "FRom MTN, Dear subscriber, your num have qualified you for the sum of N200,000 ticket no. BC55 call 08060140300 pls don't send ur bank details."

I immediately suspected it was a fraud so i decided to set the sender up. I called the number and a fellow introduced himelf as Babatunde Jacob, the centre manager of MTN location in Abuja. While he was expecting me to discuss the N200,000 I qualified for, I asked him how I could get PUK as I have missed the number while loading credit on my phone 3 times and it was asking me for a PUK. He had no clues, but he was composed; he asked me to call him back in 10 minutes.

Calling back with another non MTN number, he answered same tone but quickly added congratulatiations bla bla. He said I had called before, to which i said no, no , no. He quickly said I should call him back to check the computer. Meanwhile, I could hear children playing and shouting at the background.

Please pass the information round that the guy is a fraudster. The prayer warriors in Nairaland can also help him by giving him few curses on his chosen option.

Be warned!

PhonesRe: Ban The Use Of Hide Caller Id On Mobile Phone Calls by HeroKing(op):
We make appeals to the telecom folks in the house to pass this to their managements. Please remove the "Hide caller ID" option from your telephone service. It is being used for more of evil deeds than good.

Let us take a cue from Ghana's example. You cannot make a call on any network in Ghana with your caller ID blocked. It will simply disengage the call automatically. MTN Nigeria, Glo, Zain Nigeria, Etisala, this an urgent appeal for you to help in the sanitization of Nigeria. It is not too much a contribution in the process of rebranding the nation.

God bless our homeland.

Thanks.
PhonesBan The Use Of Hide Caller Id On Mobile Phone Calls by HeroKing(op): 11:50am On Jul 17, 2009
Dear nairalanders,

I noticed that the use of the “hide caller identification (Caller ID) function” in mobile phone telephony is now being abused daily in Nigeria. This is contrary to the country’s posture of building investor’s trust and projecting Nigeria as a trustworthy nation. For transparency sake, I am of the opinion that the “hide caller ID” function in mobile phone telephony should be banned in Nigeria by government legislation as is being done in some other parts of the Globe.

Why does someone need to hide his caller ID if not for some sinister intentions?

It is a regular phenomenon to hear many fraudsters calling from Nigeria telling the person at the other end of the telephone that they were calling from the UK or some other countries. This is not good for the integrity of the country. As the nation rebrands, I am of the opinion that we need to look critically at some of our values that make people cast aspersion on us as a nation. The various mobile telephone networks in Nigeria should be compelled to, as default, set the caller identification function for all calls originating from Nigeria to show the ID of the caller.

Opinions on this propositions please.

InvestmentRe: Is Property Investment In Nigeria Worthwhile? by HeroKing: 5:12am On Jan 08, 2009
I make bold to say that property investment is worth the while not only in Nigeria but anywhere under the sun! Many people fail in their property investment decisions not because of the locations of such properties but because of the failure to understand what drives the property market.

As someone who has practical experience in property investment, I can readily give informed opinions on how to identify good properties for investment in any location.

Specifically in Nigeria, there is nowhere that one cannot invest in and make good returns. The main challenge is identifying the "hot-spots" in your immediate environment that you can invest in. Another key factor is the property investment fundamentals and how they inter-relate to give you good returns on your investment.

If anyone needs a fool -proof guide on property investment with proofs, verifiable facts, please contact me. I will guide you to profitable investment based on personal experiences in several locations in Nigeria. You will blame yourself why you have not come in contact with the loads of time-tested information that can work in any location anywhere in the world ealier! The fee for the guide is just N5,000.

Be a property hero in the new year!

Christianity EtcRe: Should I Force My Daughter To Go To Church? by HeroKing: 9:06pm On Feb 10, 2008
The Bible says "Aya Omode ni were di si, egba ni afi ntu", - Proverb 1: 8 also advised children to listen to the cousel of their parents. YOu have to apply the rod at this age. Prov 13: 24 clearly says He that sapres the rod hates his son; but he that loves him chasteneth him betimes!

Go truough Prov 23:13 -Withold not correction from the child, for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

This person here, (13 yea rold kid), by any standard is still a kid and falls under the purview of the persons being addresed in the above passages. She gotta go to church with you, either she pays attention to whatever is being preached or not. She can only decide for herself when she is of age (18 and above in most societies).

CareerRe: Salary In The Nigerian Army? by HeroKing:
Dear Nairalanders,

We have to commend V/Admiral for the wise expose, the matured way of writing and his dedication to his fatherland. I really commend the truhtfulness. He has said it all.

The military is not different from any other profession in terms of risk, challenges, transfers, benefits, rewards, etc.

Each prfoession has its own dose of risks, challenges frustrations and good moments. I am a banker. In my years of experience, I have seen several colleagues dying in the course of working. The location where I started banking experience (in Akure) had armed robbery iexperience in my first month of working. I have experienced wonderful rewards in the course of my duties. As regards family issues, you only need to know how to manage the issue. Plan your family, plan your life. Most working class professionals go through this experience.

Like V. Admiral, my family is sationed in Lagos, I have worked in several parts of Nigeria; like admiral said, you go here and there. My duties have taken me to several parts of the world and also of Nigeria. I am presently in Ghana on an international assignment, overseeing the activities of one of Nigeria's biggest banks in about 20 African countries. I still make time to attend to my family roles. My entire family has adjusted to it. If you think only of the challenges, you cannot climb any success ladder.

If it is posting, I have seen quite a few. Some Nairalanders do not know a town called Gbongan in Nigeria nor know Bangui, or Quagadougou, Conakry or a street called serekunda (in Gambia). I stand to be corrected, if you are in any profesion for about 5 years, ther is no way you will not be moved, either by promotion, relief assignments or whatever. They all come with challenges and their funs. Even your spouse could also be moved. So if you are transferred as GOC, Kaduna from a location in Lagos, would you not go? I can see many people giving testimonies in their churches or mosques!

The military is an enviable institution that I would advise a willing person to join. All over the world, they are respected men and women. I have friends there. In the course of my assignments, I have met very brilliant Nigerian officers and they are doing well.

I once had a small biz on broad street. One of my assitants there left for the US later on Visa lottery. She joined the US army and she is doing fine. We have many examples of very bright career officers.

I encourage the poster, please go and join, try to know your onions, learn and pay attention to learning, develop yourself. I don't know if you are aware that the military will encourage you to read to any level you so desire?

I hope these views are balanced enough for you to make up your mind.

Have a fun-filled career.
