A Nigerian national and three accomplices were arrested by the Local Crime Branch (LCB), Thane Rural for cheating a resident local of nearly Rs. 23 lakh in an online scam.

Police said the Nigerian offered a dealership for ‘special seeds’ that grow only in Nigeria, which he claimed can cure AIDS. The seeds turned out to be ‘Bitter Kola’ (botanical name: Garcinia kola ), which grows in abundance in Western and Central Africa.
Anil Mathur, a resident of Naya Nagar, Mira Road came in contact with the Nigerian, identified as Uzoma Eleazar, on social media and developed a friendship. Eleazar offered Mr. Mathur a dealership in seeds that he claimed used to produce expensive medicines in Nigeria. The victim fell for it and had paid nearly Rs. 23 lakh since June 21.

Police said Eleazar managed to sell seeds in 400-gram packets for Rs. 1 lakh each. API Prafull Wagh, LCB, Thane Rural said the seeds are sold for Rs. 1,000 per kg in Nigeria.

Mr. Wagh said, “We have arrested Eleazar and his Indian agents, Taufiq Hussain, 47, a resident of Panvel, Fazal Ahmed Syed, 28, and Yogesh Kumar Patil, 31, from Navi Mumbai. All accused have been remanded in police custody till July 27 by a Thane court.

We have also seized around 10 mobile handsets using which the accused called Mr. Mathur from different numbers, three laptops, Rs 4.20 lakh in cash and packets containing the seeds.”

He said more arrests are likely as the accused have conned several people in Maharashtra and other states through an online scam.

“We have appealed to the victims to come forward and register complaints against the accused,” Mr. Wagh said.

A man has been jailed for raping a grieving mother as she placed flowers on the grave of her son.
The mourning victim, was visiting the grave in the garden of remembrance at a crematorium when the man knocked her unconscious with a small statue he snatched from a gravestone.

Christopher Rode carried out the double rape as the mother visited her son’s grave on the 20th anniversary of his 1996 death. He knocked her out before ripping off her clothes and raping her.
Rode showed little remorse however as he left the woman cowering on the ground surrounded by blood. He was sentenced to life in prison after he admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm and two counts of rape.

Judge John Reddihough heard that Rode’s victim had finished tidying her child’s grave and was about to walk back to her car when she heard a rustle coming from a bush.
Prosecuting, Michael Roques told Reading Crown Court: ‘She attempted to scream for help but a gloved hand was covering her mouth.

‘She tried to clamp her legs together in order to prevent her lower garments being further removed.
The judge heard however that the victim was unable to fend off 30-year-old Rode, who anally raped her twice.

Judge Reddihough also heard that Rode, from Slough, was a notorious woman beater who had numerous convictions having beaten some of his former partners, including one who was pregnant.

Detectives searched the cemetery after the attack and found Rode. He was arrested on the scene and taken to a nearby station to be quizzed. The 30-year-old admitted one count of assault causing grievous bodily harm and two counts of rape at an earlier hearing.
Reddihough jailed him for life and told the defendant he would have to serve at least 14 years and eight months before he could be considered for parole.

David Cameron has announced he is quitting as Prime Minister after Britain voted to leave the European Union after a nearly half a century.

In a statement outside Downing Street, and with his wife by his side, Mr Cameron said that it was “not right” for him to be “the captain that “steers the country” in a new direction.

With his voice breaking, he said: “I Iove this country and will do everything I can to serve it” but he added “the will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.”

Mr Cameron said he would stay on while a new Tory leader was elected but expected that he would gone by the time of the Conservative Party Conference in October.

“We must now prepare for a renegotiation with the EU. Above all this will require strong determined and committed leadership.

“I think the country requires fresh leadership to take it in that direction.”
Importantly Mr Cameron said he would not invoke Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty that will start the process of Brexit – leaving that decision to his successor most likely to be the former Mayor of London Boris Johnson or the Home Secretary Theresa May.

A Tory leadership election is likely to get underway within weeks.
His statement followed a remarkable night in which British people voted to leave the European Union after a nearly half a century of membership plunging the country into unchartered political and economic territory.

With all the results declared, voters backed Brexit by a margin of 52 to 48 per cent.
The outcome is also likely to spark a second independence referendum in Scotland that, unlike England and Wales, voted to remain in the EU.
Nicola Sturgeon said it the vote in Scotland “made clear” that it saw its future as part of the European Union.

Markets reacted with alarm to the vote with the pound plunging against the dollar to levels not seen in more than thirty years. The FTSE was predicted to fall by around ten per cent.

One city analyst described the vote as "one of the biggest market shocks of all time".
The former Liberal Democrat leader tweeted “God help our country”. The German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble said it was a “sad day for Europe”.
But Gisela Stuart, the Labour chairwoman of Vote Leave, called for calm.

“In the long run both Europe and the United Kingdom will emerge stronger as a result,” she said.
The unofficial result was confirmed just after 4.40am in the morning after a surge in support for leaving the EU confounded predictions made just hours before polls closed.

Middle England joined forces with the country’s industrial heartlands of the North East and North West to comprehensively reject warnings of economic Armageddon and vote to leave.
Support for remain was strongest in London and Scotland but with cities like Sheffield and Birmingham joining with Canterbury, Torbay and Peterborough in favour of Brexit momentum drifted away from the remain camp.

The result will now trigger a formal process of British withdrawal from the European Union. A planned meeting of European leaders next week in Brussels will now become an emergency Brexit summit.

Popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Edmund Obilo has finally called it quits with the Splash 105.5FM Radio Station based in Felele, in the same city.
Obilo, who was one of the pioneer on-air personalities at the wave making broadcasting outfit finally cancelled his contract with the High Chief Adebayo Akande-owned outfit in the afternoon of Monday, June 13, 2016 after what sources called ‘valedictory meeting’ between both parties.

Signs that things were not well with Edmund and the owner of Splash FM started showing as far back as two years ago, PMParrot gathered.
That things would break down finally manifested on Saturday, June 11 when Governor Abiola Ajimobi was at the station to be part of Edmund Obilo’s popular ‘Voices’ programme. Obilo was nowhere to be found!

The governor, who apparently had been invited to the station by the youthful Edmund was livid with anger. When he was officially informed that Obilo would not be ‘showing face’ or making any kind of appearance, Ajimobi, who was oblivious of the internal politics going on announced on air that “Obilo should be here. He is instrumental to my being here. That I am here and he is not here is a sign of disrespect to me and my office.”

A source informed us that Obilo resigned a day before the Saturday programme. This development was triggered, according to an insider source by the ‘frosty relationship’ Edmund endured with the daughter of the proprietor of the station, Bisi.

A source revealed that “Bisi and Edmund are always at war. She is always holding him practically by the throat. Obilo resigned on Friday to put a final end to the unending rivalry. Baba Adebayo Akande has always been good to Edmund and most of us. It is Bisi that is the problem. Obilo could take it no longer, hence, his decision to quit.”

Another insider source informed PMParrot, an Ibadan-based top media outfit that Bisi, on her part queried Obilo on the issue of ‘contents’. “Obilo runs his interviews on his website, soundcloud.com and this is not making Bisi, who is the Chief Executive of Splash FM happy.

Obilo contested the ownership of the contents and finally, they could not agree on this. Obilo had to quit. Who knows, maybe Obilo will be back if, one day, they can agree on ownership of contents and other issues.”
Meanwhile, we were reliably informed that the highly erudite and talented broadcaster may pitch his tent with Yinka Ayefele, MON, who runs one of the most vibrant radio stations in Ibadan which he calls Fresh 105.9FM Radio Station.

He runs the outfit from his Music House, Challenge, Ibadan. Obilo, who started off at Radio Nigeria as a sports reporter, was not available for his own side of the story but Yinka Ayefele called us back after he missed our calls.
However, he denied having any discussion with Obilo saying “Obilo is my very good friend. Is he resigning from Splash FM?” he asked.

Names of all 50 victims have now been officially identified by the city of Orlando on its website.

In the early hours of Monday morning, Eddie Jamoldroy Justice, 30; Darryl Roman Burt II, 29, Deonka Deidra Drayton, 32; Alejandro Barrios Martinez, 21; Anthony Luis Laureanodisla, 25; Jean Carlos Mendez Perez, 35; and Franky Jimmy Dejesus Velazquez, 50, were added to the list.

Doctors have been left baffled after a baby was born with a severe condition which leaves the entire body encased in thick white plates separated by deep cracks. The condition means she was born without skin.
According to Paediatrician Dr Yash Banait, the tragic girl will have to moisturise her skin for the whole of her life. He said: "There is no cure for this disorder. All that medical science can do is try to keep the baby alive."

This painful disease leaves the afflicted child with grotesque features and requires constant treatment. She will have to use petroleum jelly and coconut oils applied to her skin and take special nutritional supplements for most of her life.
The little girl was born by a 23-year-old girl through Caesarean operation in the Indian city of Amravati. The condition is called Harlequin Ichthyosis condition and affects one in 300,000 births.
