Today's world can be a strange place. I remember growing up how my older cousins would paint my face, put clip on earrings on my ears and tie a head scarf on my head. We'd all laugh about how beautiful I looked. Same thing with some of my neighbours, we never had a feeling that our sexuality was in doubt. I was simply a boy wearing girly things. This days the hypersensitivity to what constitutes a person's sexuality must be seeping into kids and causing havoc. I pray such kids do not destroy themselves in the name of exploring sexuality.

I schooled in FGC Sokoto and female Muslims were allowed to wear a scarf instead of a beret and a tunic/trouser combo instead of the standard dress. We never had anyone complain that they were not allowed to wear the hijab. If agreements on what is proper are to be reached then I believe dialogue is the proper course of action rather than confrontation. Now that the court upheld the state's position I hope the participants will consider a sit down rather than a fight.

Sokoto? Two of my siblings schooled there too.

Somtimes we get discouraged because our hopes are not met while others wish they were as privileged as we are..All we need do is thank God for life & the privilege to see each new day! Have a blessed week!
